I want to start with the fact that this was my first Final Fantasy EVER in 2000 on the original fat PS1, and it was what introduced me to the series. The memories of the hundred of hours I have of playing this with my father, and what we experienced together will always make me say: This is THE best Final Fantasy in the entire series, even to this day. But honestly, that's not all. A fun fact is that Hironobu Sakaguchi, the founder and original brains behind the Final Fantasy series wrote the overall story of FF9 and oversaw most of its production. This was his last Final Fantasy in which he had a direct hand in the story to this degree. This is HIS vision for the ideal Final Fantasy and a love letter to the fans up to this point. As well, Nobuo Uematsu, the famed composer for the Final Fantasy series has stated emphatically that FF9 is his personal favourite for its soundtrack. He was given a ton of creative freedom and worked with many during the creative process, and it shows. It's a timeless classic and will continue to be one for many years to come, all because the developers at the time poured their hearts into it. Lastly, the modding community for this game is one of THE BEST. They've breathed new life into it time and time again, if you're doubtful; I highly suggest taking a look at Memoria Mod Manager. It's a simple mod that aids in putting all of the greatest mods for this game into one place for your ease of use. The overhauls are INSANE and are continuing to be built upon as I write this review. They've re-done textures better than Square ever thought to, and have even added VOICE ACTING to this gem.. and IT'S ACTUALLY GOOD. (Not completed yet, it goes up to Lindblum as of Aug/15/26) Even if Square never remakes FF9 like they did with FF7, no one needs to worry. The fans are doing it, brick by brick.
Excelente juego, un JRPG clásico recomendado para cualquier fan del género. Con las mejoras de la versión de Steam se hace mas sencillo para aquellos que no estén acostumbrados a la velocidad de los juegos de esa época o para aquellos que simplemente quieran olvidarse de las peleas, el farmeo y centrarse en la historia, con personajes entrañables. Los gráficos mejorados ayudan también a no sentir el juego tan viejo. Es un Must Play para los amantes de la saga de FF.

FFIX is one of my favourite Final Fantasy games from my childhood, and getting to play it on Steam brings back so much nostalgia and enjoyment. I would always recommend playing FFIX, it has a great story and gameplay.
