It was nice to jump straight into this game without any hassle. The interface is a bit different and not what I am used to, but it’s easy enough to find and navigate. It is user friendly. I am glad for the pause menu tutorial. It is certainly a much needed reference as it was easy to forget what I need to do when learning the game. But boy when you finally figure this game out it sure is fun! Fallen Angel: Hell Survival sure is a different flavour to all of the others of its genre. If you’re bored of these games always being about dystopian zombie apocalypse scenarios or sick of just trying to eat, drink and play doctors and nurses with yourself in a forest somewhere, this game is for you! Especially if you are into Fantasy/Myth and Magic settings. This game has shown me that it works well here and makes a nice, although dark and eerie change over the many other games of its genre. The combat is fun and challenging. I did get my butt handed to me a few times before I figured out the spells and how to block hits with the wooden staff. You definitely need to use a combination of melee and magic to master the combat, but it is pretty easy when you know how. I don’t mind the grind of mining lots of stone to build a base, when there’s suspense and combat going on in between. In Minecraft you had tunnels and torches to keep you safe, but here all mining is above ground and you never know what might come wandering over while you’re busy. Will it be a massive hellhound that will rip my face off if I don’t feed it some meat or will it be a creepy black goat for me to snack on? Or a range of other dangerous demons that pass by in the hells? The crafting and building is fun and easy too. Some might find it too basic compared to other crafting survival games, but here I don’t mind it. If you like it as simple as Minecraft then you will like it here too. There are lots of different things to look forward to in the progression of making stuff. Plenty of different building blocks, tools, weapons, armor, furniture, storage containers, crafting equipment, e.t.c. Then there’s blacksmithing for crafting better quality gear. Exploring the world is interesting too. You have a map, but not of the whole world. It just shows the region where you are. I like that you can craft Signs to stick around the place that you can see from a distance and they show up on the map too. That really helped me navigate hell and find my way back home. There’s plenty of different ruins near lava and fortresses in the mountains to find too. This is where the game has an element of dungeon crawling to it. They are somewhat eerie and full of atmosphere to explore, interesting and fun. There are usually demonic forces inside to battle through as any dungeon area should. There are loots to find, buffs and you can even mine the place down and use its resources to build your own place. That’s pretty cool! It’s like raiding a dungeon in Skyrim and then being able to knock it all down to build your own house! This has lots of replay value too. You can even enter a world seed before you start a new game to have a whole new different hell. Like all games, it’s not perfect. It does have its flaws here and there. Especially as you move around the world, I did get some lag and hitching. I guess that’s something to do with it being a procedurally generated landscape. I hear that’s normal for these kinds of games. I certainly remember it being a thing in Minecraft too. But it’s certainly not enough to ruin the game. I couldn’t really find much to complain about. Certainly nothing here game breaking and I really enjoyed it and can definitely recommend it. And what’s not to like about having a horny succubus companion following you around?
*Edit* I went into this game with an open mind and since I am a fan of survival games such as 7 days and minecraft I thought this was gonna be a game for me. I have only played 20 mins of the game as I could not go through with how bright the lava was even after adjusting brightness on monitors and the bloomfx in game it was still giving me a strong headache. I found the controls simple and easy to use though a "shift click" Would be great, I do not know if that was added or not but I did try. The other issue I had was the spells, I understand that utility spells are good to start with but the attack spells I felt, in my opinion, should be earned or maybe a level up process but I did not get to far into the game to see if they were. I wish the dev all the luck but this game is not for me I will be returning to the game after a few updates or so to see if anything changes but currently it is not something for me!
I play on Windows 10 and typically play games like Skyrim, Fallout and Tombraider. I haven't had the time to get into the game like I want. But so far it's been smooth and fun. I look forward to continueing the game and playing it through.
Once I found a goat, but obviously it was too powerful to slay with the rock I had. A tooltip told me to find a stick to make a staff. After 20 minutes of zipping around the endless wasteland I managed to find them, but by that time the goat was long gone. It would be irresponsible of me to recommend this game, but good on the dev for their effort.
Having played Minecraft, Terreria, and The Forest; I can say that this game combines elements of those games pretty good. While with Minecraft you can get something similar with mods, magic etc. Having this right out of the gate and with The forest style graphics is simply fantastic. Being able to explore and have a story that is already starting to progress is quite lovely. Also with being able to leap across the terrain and use magic with the vanilla version of the games where you would need mods with Minecraft I've also played GOG Games version of Succubus and while I enjoy the story and gameplay of it, it's replayability kind of goes down after beating it pretty quickly and not having many challanges afterwards. For the other things about this game, as plenty, if not any other game, there's also things I think could be better or added; here are those things. For one, being a unity game; I'd say at this point going for simply optimizing most of all would probably be best in this phase, since it is a bit hard to keep frames at times with it. Another thing would be a varity or more types of magic, ice, dark, and so forth. Then if there could be something like the wings mod from Terreria where you could fly but for a limited time. Those I believe would make a good edition to the game. Another thing is simply more weapons like a sword or throwing knives. Although I imagine those things are being planned out now. This is kind of a little desire of mine but it would be nice to see kind of vampric abilites added as well but I can see that it's more to the point of thirst with that kind of challenge; maybe if another lair was added like where you only refil part of your thirst or somethign like that. All in all, the game is well in it's early stages, and being with one person making it is quite the challenge indeed so I'm not sure where this will be taken, but the potential is definitely there. For someone who is as a Succubus and going for a good time killer and ripping up things in a hell like environment is quite a good choice for me.
It’s nice to see a game like this avoid the cliche of apocalyptic Zombie survivals and mix it with something Myth and Magic instead. Although it does have a bit of a Zombie element to it, but very different. They are nailed to crosses over the lava all day and they only come after you at night and they are pretty slow, so easy to avoid. And they fly! Flying zombies! Who’d a thunk it? There aren’t that many chasing after you at once, but they sure are hard! I’ve not been able to kill one single one. I just avoid them completely. They always seem to find their way to you, but if you build a decent secure house you don’t have to keep avoiding them. They can occasionally find your doors and attack them too, so you have to be prepared. There are other enemies to encounter during the day too. Some can be very difficult and you need a weapon and some armor to even attempt to attack them, or maybe that’s just me. Some might be able to manage it bare handed and naked, but not me. I definitely stay away from hellhounds and those creepy guys with the chains until I’ve got something to use other than nakedness. But it’s great when you have some surplus meat to give to the hellhounds, because they follow you around and fight for you. Having my own pet hellhounds is pretty fun. The downside is they don’t stick around forever. Sometimes they disappear after a while, especially if I’m running hell like a race car. There’s lots of fun things to craft, but it was hard figuring out what I could and couldn’t craft with what items I had until the latest update, which adds a nice book of recipes. Now I know what I can craft, what I need to get and go out looking for. Kudos to the dev for adding that! Anyways to cut this short, I guess this game is like a cross between Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Minecraft. I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes those games. I’ve seen a couple of people call this “jank”. Sorry, but I don’t see the “extremely” poor quality at all. All I see is good quality, especially considering this is an early access indie game made by one dude? Have those people ever played a game made by EA or Bethesda before? Now there’s your jank!
Definitely had fun with this game and man, what a hidden Gem! This Fantasy style/Hell flavoured survival game mix is totally unique and it works so well that it could really revolutionise what players expect from the genre. The player character is awesome and she feels like Taz the cartoon character when she runs. She turns into a black cloud and whooshes around like I’ve seen the other Devils do in the game. It’s definitely different and fun. Takes some getting used to, which is important near lava! As well as the unique way to get around quickly there are other fun spells to play with. The fireball is very helpful in combat, but I like sucking my opponent’s health to restore my own. It’s definitely a must considering how challenging some of the mobs can be. The combat can be long and drawn out sometimes, but it is really fun and satisfying when you finally take them down. I like the survival aspect too. The progression is pretty steady and decent. It’s a bit tough keeping alive with food and blood at the start of the game, but it gets easier, especially when you actually figure out that Imps can occasionally drop plasma fruit and goats are a good source of meat and blood. The hardest to deal with is the blood thirst for sure. And although you don’t die without blood or plasma, you can’t use your magic without it. So it can leave you feeling pretty vulnerable when she’s craving blood and you can’t find any and you can’t use the spells or even run like Taz anymore. Thankfully there are magical stone features with faces all over them that provide mana if you are desperate. It’s a good idea to stay near those things in case of an emergency. I built my base right next to one! Overall it’s pretty well balanced and takes a long time for you to need to eat and drink compared to other survival games. Too many other games like this leave you unrealistically hungry and thirsty all of the time, so you are having to eat and drink like every 5 minutes or so, but not this game, thankfully. I think maybe it takes over a day for you to start starving if I remember correctly. Blood thirst runs down a lot quicker, but like I say, it doesn’t kill you. It’s fairly easy to manage once you get used it. Especially if you can find plasma fruit and get a little crop growing, then you’re pretty much sorted for the rest of the game. Just remember to keep goats away from your plants! After I had one run away with my plant, I started growing them under my base in the basement. The crafting and building is great. It can be a bit of a puzzle trying to figure out what you can craft, but thankfully there’s a recipe book. I’d be totally screwed without it. The range of different storage containers you can make to store your gear in is pretty decent. After a while you will have a lot of stuff to store and having a large choice of things to store them in really helps to organise. Building floors and walls is just like Minecraft but with even more shapes than just cubes. Building and placing blocks where ever you like and making whatever you like to live in is pretty fun. There’s a lot less creative limitation with this kind of system for sure. But as well as building with blocks it has a different placing system for other crafted objects like furniture that allows you to rotate and place it anywhere. I guess I could describe the whole thing as kind of like a Minecraft-Fallout 4 hybrid building system. And then when you’re ready you can go off and explore hell, find dungeon buildings, raid them, loot them and even knock them down if you want to! Imagine something like Skyrim where you could just mine down the whole dungeon for bricks when you were finished with it and then use it to build your own place. You can actually that in this game! Like I say the progression is great here and by the time you’ve finally got fully enchanted epic gear that you’ve worked so long and hard to achieve, you feel like such a bad ass. It’s very satisfying. I totally recommend it. Even if you’ve never played a game like Minecraft before or even if you’ve only played something like an Elder Scrolls game, this could be the one to get you into appreciating this genre.
Minecraft in Heeeeeellll!! Some great character design and artwork. And there is some surprising depth to the game once you scratch below the surface a bit.
This is a very unique and promising game. It can be rough when first starting, but what survival game isn't? I Love that it takes place in hell and that you are this kick a$$ character. For being early access I haven't run across many bugs at all. I highly recommend this game if you like the survival genre!!
I did quite enjoy playing this game, though there isn't much to offer at the moment I am hoping in the near future different gameplay mechanics will be reworked/improved upon. The forging mechanic I especially like, it's got that sense of realism compared to other games. Having to make a mould to forge the ore you smelted is a really nice touch. though there are a couple of things I wish could be improved, I feel like the game would benifet from a building mechanic similar to ARK/Rust instead of a more Minecraft building style. I'm not sure if it's a bug but the Enemies currently don't seem to have a "De-Agro" range, and they seem to spot you from miles away. The game is still being updated so I can't be too harsh, I'm just expressing my current likes and ideas for future development.
