About
A puzzle platformer about turning failure into progress, inspired by the developer's struggles with cycles of manic highs and depressive lows.
You’re trapped inside a dream-like dimension, with no clear way out.

She wants to guide you forward.
But, the path ahead is full of deadly traps… and your only real ability? To fail.
Fortunately for you, there are mysterious orbs that let you leave a fragment of yourself behind. What remains will become barriers against hazards or platforms paving your way forward.
Fail and fail again, until you succeed.
Persistence and clever thinking is the only way out of this place.

Originally conceived while a student, Fail Fail Succeed grew from feelings of being stuck in a cycle of manic highs and depressive lows. The mechanics were designed as metaphors for those struggles: failure as an inevitable outcome, but traces of progress being left behind. In a bleak world of exhausting repetition, small comforts in the companionship of a loyal pup often became a guiding light.
Fail Fail Succeed is developed by a single developer. What began as a small weekend project, slowly grew after positive feedback, was further developed for Gotland Game Conference and Swedish Game Awards, and is now finally coming to Steam for everyone to play!

I'm proud to say that without me this game would not exist in the form it does today, and yet my contribution is a drop in a sea of a million tiny decisions the developer had to make along the way. It takes a lot of thinking to make a good puzzle game. I've played, what, over a thousand games in my life? Heck, I'm a game designer myself. I like all sorts of games for all sorts of different reasons, but games that tend to leave a lasting impression on me are often the ones that explore a clever idea in a creative way. Fail Fail Succeed, in that sense, feels like it was made for me. It's more than just good game design. It's beautiful, atmospheric and meaningful. Full of soul and subtle storytelling. Lots of little touches that show it was made with love. Games like Fail Fail Succeed are the reason I will never quit playing games. This humble puzzle platformer is more than you might initially give it credit for.
I had such a blast playing this game. The game mechanics are simple but used in so many clever ways. The levels provide a variety of art styles and puzzles to figure out. Most importantly to me, the puzzles were able to be figured out and did not require “cheap” tricks. I have played other puzzle platformers that I had to look up guides to figure out things, but this one always has a logical answer. All this, and an outstanding price, made this an easy buy for me.
A thoughtful puzzle game with satisfying mechanics! The sentiment behind Fail Fail Succeed is lovely. As the title says, game play has you create your own success through necessary failure. Highly recommended!
Really cool little puzzle game. Simple idea, but it gets clever fast. I’ve only played about an hour so far, but it already has that “just one more level” feeling. Fun, charming and definitely worth checking out.
It's a nice game! - The controls are decent. - Something special of note is that the puzzles are quite well done; I would get stuck on something and have to often think it through before doing the right solution, which is the mark of a great puzzle game. - The progression of the player learning small challenges before taking on bigger challenges that build on the previous ones are handled well too. I was able to solve the whole game without needing the visual hint feature, but I liked turning it on after solving to see if I solved it in the intended way. - The music is relaxing. The motif occasionally reminded me of Factorio Space Age's motif, which was fun. - There are some bonus levels that explore mechanics that are far-out, but its neat how it exposes the depth to the mechanics that the game lays out. I implicitly helped contribute to this game's development :)
I was super excited to see Fail Fail Succeed finally releasing in full on Steam! I played the original prototype at GGC, and I really liked it back then. I am super impressed to see all of the changes and improvements that have been made since then, but delighted to see that the original vision seems to have remained intact! This is honestly a delightful, challenging and quite cozy little puzzle game. If you're into that then this will probably hit the mark! A great way to spend an evening!
A fun puzzler that is challenging without being annoying. Fez got repetitive, Baba is You made me feel stupid, this one just lets me figure out how to get to me doggie without too much angst.
Your world may be full of deadly lasers and spikes, and your brain may be going numb from managing the corpses of your past selves. The road to success may be rough, and you may fail over and over. But even the missteps take you forward: accept them as part of the process. Every time you get back up and try again, your resilience grows, and you learn something. Nurture that determination, and it will carry you. Because in the end, you can pet the dog. DOGS. ALL OF THEM YOU CAN PET ALL OF THE DOGS!!!
I played the demo of this game for almost 2 hours, so the time shown might be a little inaccurate. With that said, I like this game. It's a fun platform puzzler that focuses more on the puzzle elements and 'problem-solving' aspects, rather than the platforming aspect which I think works to its benefit. There's no tricksy finnicky platforming outside of what's expected from a very basic platformer, everything feels fair, which leaves the puzzles to do a lot of the heavy lifting, which is does very well. The puzzles feel challenging yet fair, and the game gives you a lot of tools (such as zooming out) to help you solve the puzzles yourself, which really helps facilitate an 'a-ha!' moment. The only real complaint I have is with the 'enter' button being very awkward to press given the current control schemes, but even that's a non-issue as you can remap controls in the options tab. Speaking of which, you can swap the breed of your dog there, and even ask to have yours in game! If that alone isn't reason enough to pick up the game, I don't know what is...
