Who doesn't like a little bit of ball torture :)
Know Ball !
Why ?
Not launching.
Looking at the full price, it doesn’t really justify itself. I got it for $0.49 (-90%), which feels much more reasonable. It only took me about 11 minutes to finish, so00… it was fun, but not $4.99 fun for 15 easy levels. I just wish there were more levels.
Super meat boy if it was awesome
It's absolutely not worth the original price of $5 but it goes on sale for $0.49 to which I would say is a fair price. I was able to 100% the game in 7 minutes and it was fairly enjoyable.
Ball Torture, developed and published by khukhrovr, is a stripped-down 2D platformer that revolves around a single, unforgiving idea: guiding a rolling ball through tightly designed obstacle courses where precision is everything and mistakes are costly. There’s no elaborate narrative, no layered progression systems, and very little in the way of distraction—the game is entirely focused on movement, timing, and endurance. It’s the kind of experience that immediately signals its intent: this is about challenge first, and everything else comes second. The core gameplay is as simple as it sounds. You control a ball and navigate through a sequence of trap-filled stages, each demanding careful control and exact timing. Hazards such as spinning blades, narrow passages, and sudden movement patterns are placed in ways that leave little room for error. Even a slight miscalculation can send you back to a checkpoint, forcing you to repeat sections until you get them right. This creates a loop built on repetition and gradual improvement, where progress comes not from unlocking new abilities, but from refining your execution. What keeps this loop engaging—at least initially—is the clarity of its design. There are no hidden mechanics or complex rules to learn. Every failure feels directly tied to player input, which gives the game a sense of fairness despite its difficulty. When you finally make it through a particularly tough section, the satisfaction comes from knowing that it was earned through persistence and precision. The inclusion of checkpoints helps balance the challenge, preventing the game from becoming overly punishing while still maintaining its demanding nature. However, the game’s narrow focus also becomes its biggest limitation over time. While new obstacle combinations are introduced as you progress, the fundamental experience doesn’t change much. Each level builds on the same core idea without significantly expanding it, which can make extended play sessions feel repetitive. The challenge remains consistent, but the lack of variety means that the sense of discovery fades relatively quickly, replaced by a more mechanical process of trial and error. The difficulty itself is another defining factor. Ball Torture does not attempt to ease players into its systems, instead expecting a high level of precision early on. For players who enjoy demanding platformers, this can be part of the appeal, offering a test of skill that feels rewarding to overcome. For others, the constant need to repeat sections and memorize patterns may feel more frustrating than engaging. The game often relies on learning through failure, which can either motivate improvement or lead to fatigue depending on the player’s tolerance for repetition. Visually, the game adopts a very minimalistic approach. The environments are functional and easy to read, ensuring that hazards are clearly visible and movement remains the focus. However, this simplicity comes at the cost of visual variety and atmosphere. The game lacks distinct environments or evolving aesthetics, which contributes to the feeling of sameness as you progress. The audio design follows a similar pattern, providing basic feedback without adding much character or immersion. There is some replay value in the form of optional challenges, such as collecting items or improving completion times, which encourages players to refine their runs. For those who enjoy optimizing performance, this adds an extra layer of engagement. However, these elements don’t fundamentally change the experience—they simply extend the same core loop for players who want to push themselves further. In the end, Ball Torture is a very focused game that delivers exactly what it promises: a straightforward, skill-based challenge built around precision and persistence. It doesn’t attempt to broaden its appeal or offer a wide range of experiences, and that clarity of purpose works in its favor for a certain audience. At the same time, its lack of variety and heavy reliance on repetition make it a niche title that won’t resonate with everyone. For players who enjoy tight, demanding platformers and don’t mind a fair amount of trial and error, it can be a satisfying test of skill. For others, its simplicity and punishing design may feel more exhausting than rewarding. It’s a game that succeeds within its narrow scope, but rarely ventures beyond it. Rating: 6/10
