[strike] I bought this game to play with my fiancé. I have had it for about a month. We bought it during the steam summer sale. We were really enjoying it but they are dropping multiplayer entirely in less than a month. There was no mention of this when I bought the game. They advertised this as a multiplayer game, and it is why we bought it. As of today, all of their promotional material on the steam page still heavily focuses on multiplayer (trailers, gameplay footage, and images). They "stealthily" removed all mention of multiplayer from the page like they didn't lie to everyone that bought the game previously, and recently, as a multiplayer game. I would have given this game a thumbs up but I can't knowingly support this game after what Phoenix Labs is doing to their customers and supporters. [/strike] In light of them leaving the multiplayer enabled, I am editing my review. I am leaving the original text because I think it is still important to know that it happened, but I am glad that they decided not to shut it down just yet. I am not a fan of the way they handled any of this. No announcement when it was shutting down and no announcement when they changed their minds. This whole situation could have used more communication and transparency. Overall the game is good. It was a lot of fun and my fiancé and I really were enjoying it. There are some bugs that aren't going to be fixed and that's not great, but we have been able to work around any that we have encountered in our playthrough. The characters and relationships are a bit flat in this game unfortunately. There wasn't really anyone I found particularly interesting. The farming also lacked any sort of automation to make things go quicker as you get into late game. It made it a bit frustrating at times. You want to go in the mines, but your crops are ready. Harvesting is slow and tedious, and there is nothing that makes it better until you get a certain potion. The seed makers are slow AF, so if you want to use the crops you just got to make seeds before replanting be sure to make more than one seed maker. You can use basically all of your mana to water them in a reasonable amount of time, but then you have no mana for the mines without constantly using mana potions. Or you can save your mana and water them manually, but that takes a lot longer. After harvest and making new seeds the day will be half over, and by the time you finish up with watering you basically don't have time for the mines anymore. And this is only one farm, you do unlock more than one as you progress. Its a good thing they left the multiplayer in the game. Basically if you wanted to do the mines you had to neglect your crops and just leave them for the next day. There were a few other minor gripes I had with the game, but even the ones I mentioned specifically weren't enough to ruin my experience of the game. It is unique, charming, and fun. It was enough of a departure from a game like Stardew Valley to be refreshing, and interesting, but similar enough that if you liked SV you would likely enjoy this as well. Many games in this genre just copy as much as possible from SV, and while it is a great game, I don't love everything about it. The combat in SV for one is boring and flat. That is one area that I think Fae Farm is a great improvement. It is still not very complex, but there is a bit more too it with the spells that you can learn that keep it a bit more interesting. It is worth checking out if you are looking for this sort of game. [b]Overall: 7/10[/b]
