Gripping winter survival horror game with solid set of game mechanics and eerie atmosphere. Fade to Silence combines survival with combat, exploration, base building and resource management, and throws in a collection of NPCs to boss around. Although the mechanics are a little bit thin, for example the combat is simple and there is a very limited number of enemy types, the pieces with together very nicely, creating a very compelling gameplay loop. It's quite the opposite to many AAA games with useless bells and whistles added just to pad the game time. Fade to Silence has a solid core, great atmosphere and enough original ideas to make it feel fresh and captivating.
It is not a good multiplayer game. The second player is a follower and cannot do everything that the main player does. I do not like the fact that you are not equals in it. Plus some of the achievements do not unlock as the second player.

There's no one in the world who could make me start again everything from tutorial. No ***** way. Especially when I die because of the lousy, low responsive control mechanics. Nah. Instant delete.
👍🏻👍🏻

I haven't played this game in a very long time, but when I did, I loved the atmosphere it created for the level of technology that could be used at the time of release. Game takes a bit to get used to, because it doesn't really play like a traditional survival base building game. Once you do get the hang of it, it can be quite fun if you appreciate it for what it is. I'm a fan of the survival genre, especially single player games, and more so if it is a winter theme, so without even know what the game was about, I just bought it and started playing it. I can't remember when it was, but I jumped on this train at the tail end of the whole thing, and the game had been long abandoned when I arrived. It was still fun to play for what was, and although some aspects can feel repetitive, it isn't so much so that I felt bored. I'm not sure if it makes sense, but this game felt like playing Shadows of Mordor - though obviously not to that level of magnitude - in a roundabout way that you progress. You harvest resources, clear an area of infestation, find survivors/dogs, and move on to the next. I have no idea how well it holds up in this day and age, but I would imagine it would run great with modern hardware. Not sure whether to give it a thumbs up, or down because although I liked the game, it is dated, and no longer being supported... However unlike other old games that are still being sold at full price - which is just insane - this game still gets thrown on sale at ultra low prices. As I write this, I see it on sale for under $10, which is a deal and a half. I'll say if you can find it on sale for $10 or less, give it a try, and I will rate it a thumbs up because it was very fun, challenging at times, and overall I felt it paced ok and kept you pushing for progression. If you like winter vibes, and that survival element, this has given me a bit of anxiety when you don't quite make it back to your encampment, and are far from home, as a blizzard descends (by the way that blizzard situation is just amazing from what I remember!). I wish they'd revamp it for modern hardware, and resolutions, and take care of the community's suggestions for improvement, but it is what it is. GG everyone.
