pretty barren for early access and lacks some charm from the killer bean universe I suppose but all I know about it is from meme videos and that one video where the beans are dancing to the clubbed to death soundtrack from the matrix with shizo posting true facts on how the US Government, Deepstate, CIA, FBI, NSA, and so on spy on you. For some of the bad things of the game I will list them out for ez reading -tweaker energy in dialogue scenes where the beans heads move rapidly -dialogue audio issues where some don't play audio at all or have a voice actor like the one dude with the shades -not a very structured story / a bit random -bullet sponge bosses -horrible checkpoints especially on level 5 before the laser thing at the top (if you die you gotta climb the one thing over and over again) -RC explosive cars have no noise -Running back and forth across the entire map for missions -Capture the flag objectives in a single player game -Very repetitive gameplay -Enemies can spawn right in front of you -Things on the trailer / screenshots for the game don't appear yet in the early access Those are just some of the things I could think of and some of the things I did like were the voice acting and the npcs using vehicles. This game kinda feels like Just Cause in a way but in a barely in the oven state. I can see why some people say this could be a Roblox game tho lol. This game needs a lot of work to be enjoyable and I would suggest coming back later when the game is mostly done https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EIdpCsmD4g
enemies spawn in walls, sometimes button inputs straight up don't work, its very much a unity game as there is like no decorations or any environmental ambience like at all, if you have a health regen biohack it can make you go over your max health (for example, 101/100 hp if your at 99hp and you have a biohack that heals 2 per second.) theres no subtitles option which really sucks, and enemies essentially have aimbot, some of the things that drop eggs also just become invincible after playing for a while. this game is fun though, and the gunplay and strats you have to come up with is also very fun. its obvious he put a lot of time into the action and gameplay, but not much else. I've loved your work ever since killer bean 2.1 came out (my favorite tbh) and I have your youtooz on display, this is a really good game, it just needs some work and I hope this is some good feedback. Love your work Lew.
Very few games can really carry the title of "indie" with dignity, integrity and grace. But not only that, but the creator of Killer Bean, the movies and the game, has a commitment that few artists in his craft genuinely have. For that reason, it is hard to say anything negative about a game that celebrates everything joyful about the interactive medium. Yes, there are many things that would be unforgivable in a larger title with a larger IP. The game is crushingly hard, relentlessly unfair at times and relies a lot on trial and error, even with very adjustable difficulty scales and some surprising leniency compared to its more rogue-like initial incarnation. Many mechanics may seem underbaked and there is surely a lot of gameplay burdens inherent to the engine and the fact its mostly done by the hands of a single man. But what is it about Killer Bean that allows us to overlook these genuine flaws? Killer Bean, throughout its history, as a character and an indie IP, really has stood the test of time and acts as a testimonial to dedication in bringing something silly, but inspired to the ever cruel and judgement audience of the internet. The fact the game exists, it is playable and it has more content than most Early Access games, is proof that Killer Bean is more than just an idea, more than just a passion project by a lone man who wanted to share it with the world. When you think about it, Killer Bean is all of us. The aspiration to embrace tropes, whether they be cringe or silly or over done, in full fisted parody and endorsement for "fun above all". Killer Bean is a relentless embrace of a genre oversaturated with silliness. In its core, its enduring and light with impressive cinematic gravity. What it lacks, it actually gains. By discarding a deeper narrative, it can focus on humour. By unironically emulating Call of Duty Warzone, it in term, is a competent parody of it. By being Killer Bean, it allows itself to be a bit of everything, but mostly, unapologetically, itself. Killer Bean is in a language we all understand.
I would give this game a 2/5 and that is being generous. If you're a fan of the movie and want to enjoy playing as killer bean, it is sort of enjoyable but the game itself is clunky. The visuals are good and the game mechanics are decent, but it feels unfinished. The story is maximum 2 hours of playtime and the mini game modes are enjoyable, but I can't imagine anyone spending more than 10 hours on this game. I logged almost 5 hours on this game and 2 of those were me being afk while I watched the world cup. In that time I was able to complete the full story (on easy) and try out all of the mini games. If this game was $3 this review wouldn't be as harsh, but after waiting for release and paying $15 I am extremely disappointed. The UI is absolutely abysmal and the game in general looks like it could have been made on Roblox. The shop is probably the most useless feature because there is absolutely no incentive to actually acquire money nor waste your time driving to the shop since the guns aren't any better than the ones you can acquire for free. The best part of the shop was the option to buy attachments for the weapons and the biohack that allow you to improve killer bean's abilities, but genuinely not worth the time driving to the shop. Also, the car was included in the game for absolutely no reason, you are able to play with the car for maybe 20 minutes total and it is never used again in the game. The game was buggy, buying the biohack + gun upgrades made the game 50x easier and the story was mid at best. I also hate that you could fast forward the dialogue, nor skip it after you died. Overall, I am extremely disappointed and would recommend playing literally anything else (unless you really like killer bean).
alrighty so I started off on an absolute high. Amazing graphics, splendid story development, attractive protagonist (am I right ladies ? *winks* *tips fedora*. I chose the omnious 'play mission 5' option, only 30 minutes into gameplay. Although some may say it ruins the integrity of the lore development, I had an itch for level 5. No, not because I have scabies, or eczema, but because what ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game puts PLAY LEVEL 5 ON THE MAIN MENU????? Anyway, what I initially thought was a FPS heavy game, QUICKLY turned into what a blind child would create during a kids learning game development crash course, funded by their parents, who wants to just play assasins creed but doesn't fit the age rating. Long story short, not graphic enough, not enough diversity in the beans, and i ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hated mission 5. bye
I'm beeeaaaniiiiing I'm beeeeaaaning so haaaaard rn.

This is babies first Unreal project. It's genuinely just the most basic shooter gameplay coupled with a few "roguelike" aspects and the buggiest, most unsatisfying feel to the controls, aiming and gunplay that a game can offer. For the price it's asking, I don't see a world where it's ever reworked into being an actual quality game. Don't be fooled by the joke positive reviews, this game is just slop for some youtuber to make content on.
Oof, Killer Bean is rough and underbaked. I know this game is currently in Early Access, but the developers have a ways to go to make it adequate. Let the developers work, but for now I'm setting this game down and walking away.
