14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

"The steel case Collector's Edition of F.E.A.R. 3 included an 18 cm pregnant Alma figure with a glow in the dark fetus" As a massive fan of FEAR 1 and an appreciator of FEAR 2, FEAR 3 is without a doubt the most terrifying of all three games, and for all the wrong reasons. First of all this was developed by a different studio, Day 1 Studios who also made Mechassault 1 and 2, two amazing OG Xbox games you should definitely check out. FEAR 3 however got taken in a totally different direction, so Monolith this ain't. I will write more about the development of this game further down so as not to spoil things early. Immediately the tone of the game is completely different, much more edgy and, "xbox 360-y" if I were to use generic terms to describe it. Almost every level is a bland mess of browns and yellows dosed in a healthy spray of the Deus Ex Human Revolution p*ss filter, set in seemingly intentionally boring and meh locations - you start in a prison then progress to "slums" which are 100% just sewers but not called that and then go to a warehouse and then houses, for example - and the gameplay quickly devolves into a cheap and mindless "shoot everyone in the combat zone until they stop shooting back" ordeal. Over and over, ad infinitum you take on squad after squad of the exact same merc-looking enemies for over half the game with little to break things up. It genuinely is a shadow of FEAR 1's gameplay, lobotomized and entirely lacking in understanding of what made the original game fun. When the game throws different enemies at you which I won't spoil they feel hollow, one dimensional, out of place and lifeless. I get that this was done to change things up but it really doesn't do much other than make me wish I was playing Condemned or Doom 3. Focusing more on the gameplay, FEAR 3 can be completed solo or in coop which is honestly a rare and experimental feature for an FPS campaign, one that wasn't intended to be a focal point of the game originally. It has a certain charm as a result, almost coming off as funny or goofy at times (potentially to try and even out the edge?) and other times feeling like a game that lacked any true direction with cheaply and poorly thought out ideas being thrown into an amalgamated soup. Unfortunately the controls haven't aged very well and there's permanent mouse acceleration. You're not going to have a great time here, but it *is* beatable even on the hardest difficulty, and even just playing as Fettel. Some things I'll give Day 1 credit for though is perfect ladder integration. Other FPS games should look at how FEAR 3 implemented ladders and learn from it, because I reckon it's perfectly done which is a weird niche to praise, but here we are. Another good part of this game are the occasional scares that DO land like in the Warehouse, some of the houses or the odd one in the airport. The DNA of FEAR's scary action blend is still in there, just twisted and abused into a horrifying parody of the original. As for the story, just wow. It genuinely makes me wonder what on earth the dev team was thinking. It took all the most questionable parts from FEAR 2's ending especially (you know what I'm talking about) and makes it the central story element. I *dare* you to play this game without headphones in front of your parents or SO. Past the halfway mark the game is a conga line of awkward and uncomfortable talk about pregnancy, birth and, uh, "conception" all while extremely loud and (hopefully) unintentionally suggestive moans reverberate throughout the game world. I have no words to describe how awful the choices in the story are, and the Fettel ending is just wrong. Bad writer, bad! *gets the hose* After beating this game I did some research on the development of FEAR 3 and it explains most of the problems. A gross oversimplification of what happened is originally Day 1 was tasked by another publisher Vivendi (the original rights holders) to make FEAR 2 in direct competition with FEAR 2 Project Origin, so not the one we got from Monolith but an entirely different one that got scrapped once WB Games bought out the full rights to FEAR. They then were tasked with making FEAR 3. This "full re-do" and retooling to make FEAR 3 caused insane and extended time crunch, unchecked burnout which resulted in most of the dev team quitting, a comic book writer penning the dumbest and edgiest script possible that was apparently so bad at times it had to be rewritten by Day 1 staff, John Carpenter "consulting" on cutscenes and other story elements and finally, publisher WB Games' insistence on "chasing hot topics" like forced co-op, forced world ending event set pieces and a forced score system that feels straight out of a 90s arcade machine completely derailing the tone and scary aspects of the planned game. This game must have been utter hell to make, akin to what Argonaut might have gone through making Alien Resurrection and it really shows. It feels as though the team working on FEAR 3 came to actively hate everything about it and became focused on just passing crunch milestones while all their dev teammates quit in frustration. Still, this is what they made with their time and effort and I beat it TWICE, which is probably more than it deserved. I really do feel bad for the people who had to work on this project; it must have genuinely felt cursed toward the end. So you might be asking why I recommend this game? Because there's actually a ton of exposition here so insane it borders on meme-worthy that you may never see if you thought "this game sucks, why should I bother?" and it also explains more deeply how Pointman and Beckett are different (they're not the same person according to FEAR 3's lore). You owe it to yourself to go through this experience; a shared moment of pain and suffering between us brothers who made it to the final curtain call.
fake difficulty worst short game don't recommend it
This game was clearly designed for co-op. Its too irritating to play by yourself. Every bit of challenge is just a little too much. The enemies that chase you down including the jihadis run just a little too fast so turning around to create some space just leaves you getting hit from behind. Trying to Megaman slide your way to victory will get you blown up. And there's just a little too many of them. Enemies do just a little too much damage and I found myself often taking hits behind cover inexplicably. The bosses (the mech especially) take just a little too much damage and chase you down just a little too fast and give you barely any breathing room. There's just a little too many take control away from you or slow you down for hallucination time moments. The worst source of aggravation is that the aim mechanic is borked. It feels like even if you turn off aim assist the game still has snap to target but it's more like snap you off target, like the game has an acceleration curve that's designed to troll you. I don't even care that it's not a good F.E.A.R. game. It isn't even a good shooter despite the promising early sections.
Forgettable ending to the trilogy. Weakest one gameplay and character wise, but hey, it was still fun. At the very least the game didn't crash on me and didn't give me any glitches. Also the final "boss" at the end is a joke.
Really don't understand negative reviews about this game. I've played F.E.A.R. 1 on release in 2005 when I was a child, now I've decided to try all other games in franchise because found it all on sale. Started with FEAR 3 because it has integrated controller support. And it's the same good, as first FEAR. Enemies are smart, use shelters, grenades, always in move and change their position. The same about you - you always have to use environment to succeed, cannot just run ahead and shoot. Scary elements are also here and the whole atmosphere of the game keeps you in tension. Maybe in some ways FEAR 3 is different from FEAR 1, but it doesn't make game bad. I enjoy it and have fun. That's all I need from game.

Cool game. I don't understand people's complaints about this game. They just wanted to do something different
