A little bit of jank but a whole lot of heart. It’s far more interesting than yet another fantasy setting RPG, and although at first I disliked the resources and camp mechanic, once you learn it it’s actually an interesting extra layer of strategy. The combat is good, if a little limited, but it also opens up as you unlock more skills and specialise your characters a bit. Highly recommended for anyone sick of more of the same RPGs.
I am neutral. I like the combat, but there are times when you initiate the fight, but you don’t go first. I also found the bow and arrow to be a little quirky at times. The enemy would be standing damn near right in front of a character and I could not make the shot due to enemy “cover”. The characters are also pretty bland, and don’t have much personality. I really didn’t feel attached to anyone during my playthrough so far. And some of the missions you feel like a murderous errand boy. You are basically the attack dog for multiple clans and kings and you are always proving your trust by spilling the blood of others - only on a habitual and almost annoying level. It was pretty predictable. Finally, I am not a fan of the time constraint. That’s a personal opinion, and I don’t like them in any game really. I do enjoy the moments of that Viking rage and brutality in some of the choices. There were some interesting interactions and outcomes, and they were presented at a good pace. I think the customization was just enough to personalize things without being distracting or too limiting. There were some really interesting skills that were fun to use and also great synergy in team setups. Some of the fights were TOUGH! I am pretty new to turn based games, but there were a number of times I had to really strategize and plan ahead. Speaking of, I like that the game doesn’t always hold your hand. You must always think ahead as resources can be very limited at times. These can lead to dire situations and give the opponent the opportunity to decimate you. Would I recommend? For the 8 bucks I paid, YUP! It’s a bit older and some of the systems are not great, but when I look at the cost per hour and my level of enjoyment, I’d say it is worth it. $30 is definitely a stretch for the game overall (again, in my opinion). If you see it on sale, like viking themes, and enjoy turn based games then this may be for you.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Aug 8 → 0.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Expedition Viking is a big improment over Expeditions Conquistador. Where conquistador I barely managed to finish the game due to some of the issues it had. Vikings fixed and improved on it massively, mainly the travel on the world map and combat is much better than its predecessor. The main story was ok, but the story made a good job making you feel lika a viking. Overall I came out liking this game a lot more than I expected, so I am happy I gave it a try.
good soup
I hated it at first but if you force yourself to play 30min or more you won't be able to stop. Pretty rich story, not too much dialog.
Divertente e con ottime ambientazioni!
I absolutely loved this game and I really got into the story line. I`d admit my taste in p.c games is not exactly your average joe`s opinion but I liked the historical aspect & being an old school table-top warhammer/heroquest player in the 1990`s, I honestly didn`t mind the combat that much at all. I had issues with the broken RNG in Xcom 2 and found this way better (like 75% actually means 3 out of 4 chance) etc. I understand some will not feel the same way about the combat style but there`s clearly a lot of thought and effort been put into its structure and story literature. Yeah it`s a bit dated (2017) for some. I did come across 1-2 very minor bugs which can be easily overcome by just saving regular and It might be a bit of a learning curve for some if you jump in on difficult in the early stages .. But it`s worth a shot If you want a 12 GB game to run on a potato pc/laptop that gives you an historical solo DnD experience / game-book vibe. If you want something to get your teeth into for maybe a month and you like a chilled-out tactical challenge. I`d definitely consider this, especially if its on sale and you are thinking of trying it out before Rome: Expeditions. 8.5/10
Decent game for the price
