For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. About

Expeditions: Samurai is an expansive roleplaying game set in our world during real historical events, with an intricate, branching story and a vibrant cast of characters. At every turn, you will be faced with life-or-death choices that will challenge your resolve.
Create the character you want to be and choose your own path through history. Even the smallest of your decisions can have far-reaching consequences for yourself, your crew, and - in many cases - the people of Japan.

In the year 1600, the navigator William Adams arrived in Japan. He would soon become the first European granted the title of "Samurai".
In Expeditions: Samurai, William Adams never leaves England; you will beat Adams to the punch and sail to Japan aboard the Dutch frigate De Albatros.
You arrive in Japan as the newly elected leader of a motley crew of privateers and are quickly swept up in an ongoing civil war that is nearing its climax. Navigate the politics, intrigue, and drama of feudal Japan as you and your crew catch the attention of powerful warlords whose struggle will determine the future of the nation.

Every crewmate has their own story to uncover - if you manage to earn their trust. Build your relationship with each companion into a meaningful friendship, a lifelong rivalry, or possibly even a new love.

Outnumbered but never outgunned, engage your enemies on your own terms in a fast and freeing turn-based combat system where movement, attacks, and interruptions can all play out simultaneously.
Use stealth and clever gadgets to toy with your opponents. Split up your team to position them in real-time and set up devastating ambushes. Utilize a vast array of weapons and abilities to maintain the upper hand - from mainstays of the pirate arsenal to iconic Japanese weapons.
Craft your own items and experiment with different loadouts to survive deadly and diverse enemies.

For the first time ever in an Expeditions game, experience the tense combat and deeply branching narrative of Expeditions: Samurai in drop-in/drop-out co-op. Play in single-player as your own Captain Flynn, or invite your friend and play as a pair of twins.
In co-op, talking to characters at the same time lets you wrestle for control of important decisions or compete for a companion's affections. Coordinate sneak attacks or clever combat maneuvers; throw a distracting firecracker at just the right time to let your partner sneak past a sentry, or execute a flawlessly timed double stealth takedown.

I only played the boat part but the new art style is grand xD
I love the equipment system, there is definitely good progression there, but should be a little more important/decisive. I think the crew size should be larger and encounters should scale up with it. More non-combat companions and more dangerous travel would be great to see! Overall, very very early in development, keep an eye open!

I'm a fan so far, only have had one bug so far that has impeded progress. Combat system feels good and I like the setting/map design.
Game is fun and the characters are entertaining My only complaint is the portraits seem to very buggy, they randomly will stop appearing only to work again before disappearing again This also happens in conversations where sometimes im shown both characters and other times neither is present
I enjoyed it. This is still very much an AE title that is evidently a work in progress though. There's certainly rough edges to it, particularly in the usability of the UI but the devs are very responsive on the Discord and seeing the major changes that were made based on community feedback on Rome, I'm confident that things will improve as well. I was a bit apprehensive at the tone of the dialogue, which is a bit modern for my taste but a couple of hours in the story, I was very much engaged and excited to see it unfold. The characters are varied and interesting with well done voice acting. Historical rpg's are exceedingly rare and these devs clearly care about their subjects. I particularly like the rare inclusion of Dutch characters, a first in an rpg? While the combat could use some tweaks it is largely similar to Rome so if you enjoyed that. Stealth is a big new addition and it could perhaps use the most tweaking, at the same time it's thankfully free of instant mission failures on detection, allowing you to improvise as you go. Co-up is an interesting addition that I still have to try. The game, particularly for stealth seems to have been designed with co-up in mind.
Its early. The overall feel of the setting seems quite good. Combat is satisfying. Wish there was an easier way to provide feedback. Overall though, Its going to be just fine and possibly amazing. Give them time. We need smaller developers to be successful since thew AAA ones have no idea how to make games, just money.
I'm giving this a thumbs up, if only because I think the game has potential to be fixed and be great. There's a lot to enjoy here if you love the expeditions games, but there's a few choices they've made that make it a bit frustrating to grit through. - First is just the strange choice of art style; I loved the previous art they used in Vikings and Rome, but when I saw the new designs, I thought it must be because they would have animated dialogue. They don't. There's a collection of facial expressions which make it slightly more varied, but not enough that it feels worth it. Personally, I think the cartoonish art style reminds me of Veilguard, Fable, or Fortnite, and it detracts from the fact we're playing what's meant to be a historical fiction game. - Second is the UI. It's clunky as hell. Everytime I try to exit a submenu to equip an item or look at the other half of the skill tree (which is divided into two for some reason), I seem to exit the menu entirely, making managing however many characters' inventories a complete chore. Purchasing items in a store is a confusing and frustrating task of either not offering enough or being WILDLY generous, as the game will remind me, and it becomes a time sink. - Third is the stealth mechanics. I don't know who decided a isometric turn-based game should have a real-time stealth section, but I found myself wanting to pull my hair out trying to figure it out. I found myself using my controller for the stealth as the keyboard settings straight up force you to sprint and out yourself when interacting with objects, but as in my previous point, the UI is so terrible that I have to revert back to keyboard when dealing with menus. Aside from all that? It's great, honestly. It's more of the same writing and character work that I love from the expedition series, the combat has some interesting additions, I really enjoy the customizability of the new skill trees, the characters are interesting (even if Etienne is just Syneros 1400 years later), and there's a ton to enjoy. Hopefully, the devs will listen to some of the criticisms and work on an overhaul in a future update, and if they do, this has the potential to be great. If you're considering giving it a shot, maybe see if they're planning any changes in the future, but I would still recommend. Just be prepared for a bit of a headache from time to time until things change.
