WARNING: ABANDONWARE This charmingly dead game has a great tutorial experience and sends you off with no directive to find beacons which may or may not decide to add the intended waypoints to other beacons. Don't bother focusing on gear progression other than your tree potato launcher as you can't advance without miraculously clearing the fetch quest main storyline with broken typewriter speed dialogue that you must be stationary to watch. Great potential for a sci-fi styled minecraft reskin that you wouldn't even think of minecraft while playing at first but unfortunately the last update was in 2018. I would judge the game to be worth 3-5$ in its current state.
Last update was over 1 year ago. The game was't really that enjoyable in it's current state, but there are many games I have that I just let sit to be reevaluated when updates come in. Since it's been over a year since this game got anything (It's october 2019 and the last update was Sept 2018) I'm going to say that it looks like this is all you get, and that is not worth it.

Exotic Matter is an open world sandbox game with a lot of potential. The game has a very intricate lighting engine and an interesting juxtaposition of alien landscapes and futuristic interior. The surrounding environment, despite being procedural is quite beautiful with an extensive sky box and multiple different biomes. At the time of writing it’s currently quite a Zen experience, there aren’t that many threats besides the environment that will threaten your life. Though when you do die, you keep all mission critical equipment, but lose some of the resources that you were carrying on your person. The dev has mentioned on the forum that they plan on adding more monsters and combat capabilities later to spice things up. The GUI is near seamless, though I found increasing the default text speed to be helpful (open the Settings sub-menu from pressing <Esc> in game). Side note, if you’re running a middle to low end laptop (like mine), be sure to back up your saves. You can do so at: Documents\[account]\SaveGames
Been enjoying the game so far. It could use a few more QoL improvements. A flashlight of some sort is on my personal list. But there's story here. Lore. There's goals to meet. Sure you could construct your way out of a problem but sometimes it's nice to have the option to just run and gun. Once you get a gun that is. Edit: 12/11/2018 Though it may be more streamlined and easier to pick up I still have QoL issues. The biggest being the procedurally generated terrain. It's so terrible for no good reason. I can understand the planet needing a complex underground but could the surface please make up it's mind if its a series of sky islands, extreme sloping hills, or an unforgiving cliff. Falling into the underground with a basic mining laser is a death sentence to any play through. You can't break up anything and construct your way out. You could suicide but then you'll lose w/e you did manage to find. The acidic purple surface water/jello is the only wide open space and you either have to bridge it or very slowly do a sticky bounce along the top. I've stepped out of the ship to end up in sticky purple water then tried to jump out only to end up in a chasm with no way out too many times. I still recommend it. But the QoL is the biggest challenge. https://youtu.be/BgZhIihiUsk?t=42m33s

Очень не плохая игра. Это тот случай, когда вначале ничего не понятно, но не оторваться. Надеюсь данный проект будет развиваться.

so who should probably buy this game? If you are: a minecraft fan (or crafting/survival/block building) but would like to have a story, and/or If you like flexible, easier modding with much more freedom. the game is essentially an engine, so theoretically you can tweak everything and make a medival sandbox out of the game (not just the visuals). AFAIK Steam Workshop is also going to be a big part of the game. the game is aimed to change heavily based on player/community feedback, thats why early access. so I highly advise to actively make suggestions/report problems in the forums if you like the idea/potential and think it can improve in different areas, and would want to see more content, more detailed lore or whatnot. there are a lot of mechanics in the game that are still subject to change based on feedback. my assumption is the whole crafting system and the player-based tech setup of a facility is going to be pretty hardcore, but as it is now it can be hard to learn for the first timers. forum contribution might be a great way to share info/guides. I'm personally more invested in the modding potential of the game, especially since I can also make custom 3D models and replace them in (plus all the textures and skybox/colors). with the right support from developers and the community I frankly see a potential for this game to be like a relatively easy to use semi game-maker. Peace out.
I hate to compare this to Minecraft, but, the breaking and placing of bricks... there is SO much more to it though. There are a few bugs to smooth out but I'd love to see where this is headed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lTJ_3KtAc9M
