About
eXoSpace Combat Engineer is inspired by Reassembly, Nova Drift and FTL. It is a mission-based spaceship building game with bullet-hell style combat.

Use an intuitive snap-and-rotate system to build your ultimate warship. Balance thrusters, armor, and energy systems, or use advanced mechanical parts like pistons and hinges to create transforming warships.
The spaceship designer is gridless, allowing you to snap parts together in any orientation, and has plenty of quality of life features.

Raise the ranks of the eXoSpace Combat Engineers by taking out bosses deep in dangerous areas of space. Each hyperjump brings you closer to your target. Each hyperjump brings a new encounter: an asteroid storm, a pirate ambush, or even a hitchhiker looking for a ride. Who knows what will happen next? You will need to evolve your ship from a small drone to a true dreadnaught to face all bosses.

Satisfying game loop: gather resources and tech to upgrade your ship. Complete missions to increase in rank, improve your crew and build even bigger ships in your hunt for the most dangerous of criminals.
Gridless spaceship designer that lets you easily snap parts together in any angle, allowing you to quickly try out new designs or upgrade your ship.
Intuitive engineering constraints: balance thrusters, weapons, energy and armor to create an effective warship.
Bullet-hell boss fights: each mission ends with an epic phased boss-fight. Find weak points while dodging projectiles.
A fully-featured sandbox allowing you to build any ship, create your own faction, and share it with a click on the Steam Workshop. Fight intense battles, and set up endless waves of invading enemies for complete chaos. You can even build your own boss!
Get challenged in the Arena: face design and piloting challenges ranging from 1 vs 1 drone skirmishes to cruiser battles. Or create your own arena and share it on the Workshop.
More than 600 different ship designs to discover, including many community creations.
More than 200 parts to build your ship with, including powerful faction-specific weapons.
5 playable factions with their own tech tree, powerful unique parts, and crew.
And more is added in regular updates!
"This game feels like Reassembly if it was designed as a game, first and foremost, instead of a shipbuilding sandbox."
“I like how here, I can quickly design something and experiment. I can iterate quickly and comfortably."
“This game is ingenious, amazing and AWESOME! Something that fills the gap between Reassembly, Cosmoteer and Starsector.”

i really liked the game, however after i completed my bounty i lost all my unlocked blocks. and my uniques. also my ship i spent hours designing..... only to be hit with a starfield like gimmick,,,, of new game plus........ dude this game would be perfect if you could keep your ship and progress from one bounty to the next but to have to completly restart all over agin is a game killer for me.
EA offered very little above and beyond what the demo suggested exists. The first boss is a bullet sponge. I almost went over the 2 hour refund limit holding down right click afk watching an HP bar tick down slowly over 20 minutes just to see what I get for being this horrible to myself.
I like it so far. It's a more traditional arcade-like combat design (like SPAZ, Star Valor, Drox, etc.), with ship building as another main focus. Your parts do matter, they effect all your stats and ship characteristics.
Awesome! Like Cosmoteer but not a laggy pile of crap.. Great game. Come on modders! Where you at? If I were the Devs I'd look up top modders from cosmoteer via steam workshop and gove them free keys to jump start this bad boy. Also Devs, you need to let our stuff carry over from mission. Balance it, do what ever you need to do. Get it done.
I like this game so much I bundled my own game with it. Highly recommended if you like spaceship building or the old game Reassembly.
From what I've played so far it's a pretty good game. The concept is really cool, and the building mostly works the concept and music are also really well made from what I've seen so far (though I've only played 1.5h). Sound design is also well made the only things I can think of to improve are maybe: -a bit more explanation on things like that there are building items (like antimatter and weapon gems) and that there is warp fuel (unless I missed it in which case ignore this) -either explain/fix the building connections (when a part is connected to 2 others, and you remove 1, a lot of the time it says it's fully disconnected even though there is still 1 connection left), -minimap feels kinda bland to me, with everything being gray and sometimes items leaving the boundary (not important in the slightest but I felt like mentioning it. I don't know how it works with UI but even just a sprite mask or any post-processing might make it better imo) overall great game tho!
this is a tremendous experience, the customization is very fun and deep, and i was the first person to get the space invaders achievement which is better than starting a family
Great 2-d ship builder/fighter game. The spiritual successor to Reassembly (but with articulated parts.. very cool), been watching this for a while and loved it during the playtest. If you like optimising a ship, trying different strategies this game is for you. Well worth the price!
srry, but not srry, this game just sucks edit| controler does not work, nor does steamdeck controls
Actually very fun game! I thoroughly enjoyed designing ships. Some balance issues were observed (e.g. there's really no reason to use any burst missile launchers if you have the regular missiles as they're better in every way) but otherwise a very fun roguelike space ship builder. I noted some other reviewers complaining about ship designs not saved across runs: I think it's fine; each run I get different set of equipment and situation and needed a totally different ship anyway. In fact, I redesign my ship a lot, sometimes after every battle, especially on higher difficulty and almost never reused an old design since they're all gonna be obsolete the moment you get new stuff. All in all, very fun game!
