This game is great and it really surprised me. This game definitely takes more inspiration from Metroid and similar games than classic boomer shooters. It has a nice simple upgrade path that expands your simple options. The combat is pretty simple but still challenging and creates tension between save points. My main criticisms revolve around the map. While I still very much enjoyed exploring and found the secrets rewarding to find, there were still some things I felt very flawed. First was the abundance of one way doors. Nothing is more annoying than to be locked down a pathway when I still wanted to explore more of the area(especially with the hooks that you can't recall). Then there is the fact that I don't think areas of a floor do enough to distinguish themselves from other areas. My method of finding anything was to basically run down every passage until I found something. Another issue was the map that you could pull up had a battery. I understand that the developers didn't want the player to be checking the map every second but ultimately I ended up just not using it and banging my head against the wall until I found where to go. There is an option to turn off the battery but I was too stubborn to disable it. I also felt the map itself didn't really tell you anything about the level due to it just being a bunch of squares all colored the same way. Ultimately I still very much enjoyed this game and would be interested in future projects from this dev.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A poor map, numerous one-way systems, and piss-poor signposting ruin a Metroidvania that I was otherwise enjoying. There are certain nuances in the level design which mean if you take anything other than the intended route, you'll be forced to go on utterly circuitous diversions, experiment with numerous unlabelled elevators (which don't always take you to the same place on the selected floor), and pray that you haven't gone the wrong way through one of several one-way sections - which, it happens, are the cause of numerous softlocks. I play a lot of Metroidvanias. I like them difficult. But I certainly don't like them as arduous as this. Exophobia feels like a genre entry that chastises its players as soon as they go off the beaten path - because once they do, it's a road full of empty corridors and nonsensical pathing to get them back on it.
A very fun Metroidvania that breaks the standard 2 platformer mold to be more reminiscent of Doom. I got stuck twice throughout the whole game and had to look up how to progress in a video. But overall this game is super fun and highly recommend. Great for anyone who loves hunting secrets! Edit to devs: the 3rd floor final boss fight might have a memory leak. The longer the fight went, the more frames I lost on my Steam Deck.
