About
Almost five hundred years of history unfold before you in Europa Universalis V, the latest version of one of the greatest strategy games of all time. Guide the destiny of any of hundreds of nations and societies in a simulated living world of unparalleled depth and complexity.
Europa Universalis V builds on the franchise’s core concept of developing and advancing nations from around a deeply researched historical world, adding more detailed diplomacy, a more sophisticated economic model, a revised military system and greater logistical depth that will challenge even the most experienced strategy gamers.

RULE a land of your choosing. Hundreds of nations are yours to command, as you guide the destiny of millions of people through the late Middle Ages up to the Age of Revolution - from the mighty Yuán Dynasty to the city-states of Italy, from the warring clans of feudal Japan to the Pope himself.
DECIDE which course your nation will take. Historical events and situations await as you chart a unique path through a new history written by your decisions. Experience The Hundred Years’ War, the Protestant Reformation, the collapse of old dynasties and rise of new ones.
EXPLORE alternate histories as you shape the world to meet your ambitions. What if England succeeded in pressing its continental claims? What if China pursued an overseas empire? What if Mongol supremacy in Russia persisted? Every action opens the possibility for an original history.

IMPOSE domestic peace in a divided realm. Keep your nation’s factions in line as Estates jockey for power in your nation. Offer privileges to one group of citizens while you limit the power of another, all in the service of keeping your population under control.
NEGOTIATE your way through an uneasy peace. Use diplomacy to entrench your dynasty across realms or build an invincible alliance. But remember that nations have no permanent friends - only permanent interests; so use your ambassadors carefully. Exact favors from friends, send threats to enemies, and keep an eye on everyone in-between.
CONQUER new lands to expand your borders. Wage War on those who impede your ambition in a completely new Europa Universalis military system. Start in the age of levies and mercenaries and, through social development, evolve to vast standing armies and impenetrable fortresses. Choose skilled commanders to oversee both land and naval forces.

BUILD a strong economic infrastructure in the most detailed trade system yet seen in a Europa Universalis game. Dozens of goods and crops are available for production and trade on a map filled with new riches to discover. Invest in feeding a growing population or trade your surplus to less bountiful societies.
MOLD your society to meet the historical moment. Choose your societal values, with new options opening as the ages move on. Centralize power at court or share it with your nobles. Pursue a tolerant policy for all faiths or condemn heretics. Emphasize massed armies or an elite cadre of quality soldiers.
GOVERN a nation composed of many cultures and faiths in a detailed simulation of the past. For the first time in Europa Universalis, populations are represented on the map in detail, so provinces may be divided by religion or culture. Your decisions will determine how these populations will fare under your leadership.

PREVAIL in the greatest strategic challenges of the past. Test your expertise in grand strategic planning on a worldscape larger and more detailed than seen in any previous Paradox Interactive game. Challenge yourself to outdo the most famous rulers of the past, eclipsing their grand accomplishments and building your own vision of a richly detailed globe.

Reviews
This is the first review and comment I ever wrote on steam. Why do I do it? Simple: I am afraid this project will lose momentum and be abandoned like Imperator: Rome. Why do I care? It is the most ambitious strategy game I have ever played. As someone who has for many years been short on cash and lived through a lot of FOMO regarding Paradox's DLC and business policy, I certainly understand any annoyance and pain. But I have to be honest, too: of my top 10 games ever played, 5 are Paradox Titles. And that is for good reason. The sheer ambition and complexity of their games are generally truly enjoyable. They are living pieces; the upside from their business policy is continuous development and following-through on visions and ideas. And I think this game in particular stands out, despite a strong benchmark. - 500 years of slow-paced, detailed historic gameplay? check. - simulation of more or less EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL of every country's population? including economics, food & growth, literacy, culture, religion, migration? check. - a well-thought-out, complex and quite realistic economic base for everything happening in this game? check. - internal politics, classes (estates), diplomacy? check. - few direct, but hundreds of indirect levers to do anything (like in real politics)? check. - addicting exploration & colonization mechanics? check. I might be biased toward economic simulations (as I'm an Economist myself). But it's still different in scope from Victoria 3 (a top-notch economic sim). It "simply" uses a deep economic system as basis, which is extremely ambitious for a project with a somewhat different main idea. I hope ambitious is the right word, not insane. The incredible ambition is also what causes many of the concerns that you can read in the comments. It certainly cannot be easy to build all these layers into a game and then not have frequent balancing issues - especially, if you think about the historical timespan of 500 years leading up to industrialization and modern societies. And if you look closely, many of those negative comments come from players with hundreds of hours minimum. That should tell you at least one thing: money was not wasted on this at all. It's mere a very high standard this game is held to (which is a good thing, too). I also want to be clear: this is not a game that you understand after 5 hours and master after 20. It can also be quite frustrating in the beginning. And I definitely think there is still quite some room for improvement on the in-game explanation of deeper mechanics and even calculations. But please, dear reader, give this game a try if you enjoy complex grand strategy games or want to get into it. If only to support the grand vision behind this game. And please, dear paradox team, keep on the amazing job you've been doing, creating what are essentially all of my favorite games. This game especially has huge potential.
傻逼老外,天天教你爹玩游戏,玩你妈呢
has the potential to be the best paradox game. it does not live up to this at all. in its current state, eu4 is a lot better
oyun inanilmaz derece kötü 2015 yılından itibaren eu4 oyuncusuyum bu oyuna yıllarımı verdim eu5 i bır heves bir umudla satın aldım ama eu serisiyle hiçbir alakası yok ♥♥♥ basıt kardesım eu4 temel alınıp yok kontrol yok bilmem ne olayı olmadan devam edip genisletilmiş ticaret nufus ve diplomasi görev agacı ve tek bir tarih odaklı degil eu4 gibi tarih odaklı olmalıydı
They deprecated support for my system because they toggled a flag to block my generation of CPU. Beyond that and after emulating a new instruction set, the game is half baked and worse than eu4 by a large degree.
Not worthy of your time and money as of version 1.3
rezalet
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass game
This game has so much potential, but all of that is outweighed by baffling design decisions, lack of basic functionality in some core aspects like diplomacy, AI behavior and historicity, and an inability or unwillingness on the part of the devs to address any of these issues. Maybe I'll give a positive review in 5-7 years (bruh)
Not great
