Escape Logan Estate is a FREE mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as a paid product, as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app admittedly has a somewhat charming premise that unforunately isn't backed by any serious quality or rewarding gameplay. The idea is that a small family goes to an estate and to uncover the mystery behind the estate you have to play a few minigames, which I guess is part of the problem. The minigames are not good, in fact they're, well, what you would expect from a trash mobile app. And remember, this is Steam, for PC games, not the Apple App store. The minigames are also highly derivative and in some cases potentially copyright infringing (yes, a game mechanism can be covered by copyright and has been enforced in the past, by the Tetris Company for example). In this case the developer ripped off games like Pipe Dream/Pipemania, Connect Four (copyright Parker Brothers), Rubiks Clock and others. Stealing other people's game ideas for profit. What else should we expect from mobile devs? There's an overwhelming amount of mediocre Visual Novel/E-book style cutscenes in this mobile app. The developers failed one of the most basic, fundamental requirements of game design.. "Show, don't tell." So you'll spend a huge amount of time not playing the game, but clicking through endless lines of poorly written VN text cutscenes because the developers couldn't work out how to relate their narrative through the game mechanics, and decided instead it would be better to compete with reading a book for your time. We're here to play games, not read through hours of garbage intersituals. My gaming rig is not a Kindle. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the mobile app, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the mobile app, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The mobile app features simple, fairly basic 2D visuals, and while some effort went into them, and they don't look bad exactly, they don't look great, either. In the 3D era of gaming, that kicked off in the mid 1990's with dedicated 3D GPUs like the S3 Virge and ATI Rage, phoning in the graphics like this isn't going to win any awards or appeal to enthusiast PC gamers. PC gamers will be insulted by the interface for this game as the mobile app devs demand you tap/swipe on your screen to interface with the mobile app. While this is probably just due to sheer laziness from the mobile devs behind this mobile app, it's offensive disrespect to PC gamers and a sign of an extremely shoddy mobile port. Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this mobile app is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality mobile app is to be expected. So, should you buy this mobile app? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? The asking price for this mobile app could get you real PC games like "Fallout: New Vegas", "Don't Starve Together" or "Outlast". Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $5 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile app just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. FIVE BUCKS FOR A FREE MOBILE APP. Just who do they think we are?
I don't like the story, and seeing new clues in previous clue locations breaks any possible immersion.
Very beautifully stylized game! The mechanics and puzzles were very fun, and I loved the addition of minigames that you can access and play outside of the main story. I had hoped for more character interactions between the kids and grandfather though. We didnt get much in the way of connections until act four, which is by far my favourite act. Lore makes games like these all the better, and I adored every piece I gathered. There aren't many clickables for lore purposes, which i suppose is because its an escape game, but even if we could get some thoughts of the characters when tapping on certain objects, it would add another layer to the charm of the game. I played through the game once fully, and then went back through the acts to find bits and pieces of secrets, so while there isnt much replay value, the first playthrough is still awesome! Overall, it's a very beautiful game, and you can tell lots of love and effort was put into it. Would definitely recommend! Lore stuff come back after you play! | | V [spoiler] From what I gather, it's either the mothers spirit that now haunts the woods, or the red tree was infact magical and encased some kind of forest spirit. Whichever way it goes, it is still very interesting. Though the figure itself doesn't seem to actually be a threat to the characters? Possibly the grandfather, thanks to his actions before hand which caused his own demise, but the children have run ins with it, and it only stares at them. [spoiler]
Couldn't even play the game, as the game is stuck in the intro cutscene, with no dialogue boxes showing up where they should. Seems to be a known bug for almost two years as far as I can see, with no updates to it. Bought the game from a bundle, so there's no way for me to refund it. Quite disappointing.
It was very obvious early in the game that this is a very old-style story/puzzle game. The characters and initial story pulled me in. I was left disappointed. The controls are inconsistent and the puzzles repetitive, the story is interesting, but never develops, is fragmented and at times just confusing. Shame on Steam for not ensuring this game met higher standards when it was ported to their platform.
Big Fat NO. Many Steam tags on this game are completely wrong. Nonsense is what describes this game the best. Be warned there is no story in this game, is just a mix of science fiction mini stories that don't even connect with each other. Therefore there is no Ending. The clues for the majority of puzzles are hidden in other puzzles, you need to figure out witch one you need to do first. You can get stuck in the intro unable to proceed, nor play. Also you can get the wrong pattern/clue. The game showed me a pattern to solve the puzzle that was incorrect, I had to verified on YouTube how to solve it, and yes, it was indeed a Game fail! This is due to the puzzles being different each run. So you can have mix up clues that do not match your puzzles. Unacceptable!
it is suppose to be a story catching puzzler? the story only gets a bit ok at the very last chapter. in the end i felt like i wasted 2 and half hours of my life on it..... i really did not enjoy it at all.. and after reading that it is a free app on phone.. i was like wtf -.-" if you are interested in the art of the game not the game play only get it on a high discount... otherwise meh...
An okay short adventure/"escape the room"-ish game. The puzzles are mostly good if slightly rote (a few requiring lateral thinking, but none requiring outside knowledge) and there were only a rare few times where I couldn't see where to proceed (once due to missing that a scene transition couldn't happen if holding an item, once where holding an item made me miss an important clue, and thankfully only once due to "where the hell do I click" shenanigans. Locales get reused from "day" to "day" (each of the four chapters having three of them, with some minor time jumps) so there's a mild sense of familiarity as most objects you see get used at least once for some puzzle. Where it fails as an adventure game is that not every day has a clear objective from the get go, including a few times where random tasks spawn items elsewhere in the house. It doesn't help that there's no lines for failed actions. I get not wanting to read a hundred "I can't use this here", but some lines could have helped now and then to guide you. There's sometimes NPCs present but they are extremely unreactive: one to no line of dialogue, making them feel rather lifeless. Finally, do note that the game (originally a mobile game) seems to be abandoned, so there's a bunch of plot points introduced that are left unresolved. It's not the worst esoteric incomplete experience (certainly not frustratingly cliffhangery as we've seen elsewhere) since some beats do add up in satisfying ways, but you can tell there's at least one chapter's worth of content which could have been there to wrap things up.
sırf bilgisayarım kaldırıyor diye aldım. basit ama güzel bir oyun. alın çevrenizdeki çoluk çocuk oyalansın.
