Review of 0.99c Pros: Interesting maps Music and sound effets match the graphic style Combat is fast Many interesting weapons, armour, accessories and enemies Repair mechanic is interesting Fun puzzles Cons: Random encounters occur too often; it inhibits exploring No autosave.
TLDR: Great rogue like with very interesting mechanics and lots of progression to keep you playing. I personally refunded because it wasn't what I personally look for in Rpgs. Great rogue like grind and you'll get your playtime and feel like you are progressing every time you play. But if you are really into Rpgs for party members and team building, this game didn't do it for me. This game was not for me at all. That being said I see a game that is worth giving a shot. The biggest gripe that is definitely that one of my biggest pet peeves in turn based rpgs is I cannot stand when there are no characters on screen. You see the enemies and your attacks float in midair as if it was your point of view. There isn't any issue with doing this, But I can't stand it. If Dragon quest doesn't even do it anymore then surely by now we can get some character animations. Will repeat however, This stylistic choice does not negatively affect the gameplay at all. The other thing that was the final nail for me, is that I am a huge fan of party members. The first one I got was strong had a price to sign up and was very worth it. However based on the UI you can only have one at a time. And you cannot (at least at first) interact with anything about them from gear or skills. That to me is a Golem, not a party member I can get excited about. From purely a gameplay perspective again, the companion works and is very helpful. To me this game excels at every rogue-like quality, just fell quite short for me on the rpg side. If you like a reasonably tough grind with a reasonably interesting story and tons upon tons of permanent upgrades to make every run feel like progress. If you love the genre but a difficult rpg sounds intimidating, there are several options to adjust for difficulty that seemingly can be changed anytime. Even on the easiest settings boss fights seem well desgined and fresh (i only fought 2 but both were very different and had reasonably mechanics for an early bosses). The gear system with durability was my biggest hesitation on giving this game a try, and it really isn't a big deal. You certainly have to pay reasonable attention it, but certain qualities of armor are unbreakable, and there are items to restore durability. if anything I had to swap equipment purely for stats much sooner than anything broke.
https://youtu.be/Luv0burx498 Stacked with mechanics that lack impact players will be swimming in options to choose from with no benefit from picking any of them.
is gud
Very nice game, the loot system is interesting, and the pixel art is very nice. The difficulty is right on and if you got some problem with it or find it too easy you can set a lot of parameters in the settings. Congrat's for the full release :)
kind of torture to get 100% achievement in this game
Unfortunately, scaling enemies hammers the difficulty curve into a flat line while at the same time making any progression systems meaningless. As the story and world-building are nigh non-existent, there isn't much left in the game to enjoy.
vitevotum´s 3|3
Old-school feeling but falls flat after a few hours. This game could not hold my attention to finish, I like: 1. In the beginning choose your character assets (out of 16). Just visual but i like it if i have a choice. 2. Equipped Items give skills to you char. 3. Classic, nostalgic story. Collect crystals. Fight the evil guy. I do not like: 1. Bland game design. Boring maps, One Map to move to other maps. Just your mc, no "real" companions. Loot is just annoying (It is level bound). Just one way to raise your mc. 2. Take one other dude with you or your dog. But no, you cannot equip gear, look at skills or so. Just baggage or punching bags. 3. Combat. Turn-based is great. The rest... Just Equip a weapon with high atk and hit the Attack button.
I love this game. I'd pin the developer against the wall and kiss em
