this is not the type of game i normally play. with that said take this review with a grain of salt. the game works and that gets it a thumbs up from the start. for me though it seems easy ? it took me a few starts to see what to do but after that it became easy. this reminds me of ultima and like games from way back (the first ones). graphics are nearly the same. i like the way the characters are drawn. building the skills seems to be the best part of the game to me, the battles, like i said were easy once you knew what was going on. with not much out there for games and, a good bunch of them not working correctly, this one is ok, worth a try. i have 5 hours on it and could put at least that much more on it so, worth the price. good time burner.
This is a fun little sandbox RPG. Don't expect a sweeping story or anything like that, but if you just like a casual, tactical RPG, you will probably like this one.
This game looks grotesque, no doubt about it, and character attributes are very simplified. But get past that and you'll find a title with decent turn-based combat, dynamic worlds where areas get stronger or weaker depending, in part, upon your own acts, and balanced character progression. Permadeath is there, but optional. Combat is very forgiving because you can flee at any time, and there's no hunger or other such mechanic to sap your gold. On top of that, you can roll up a new world at anytime and keep your group so there is theoretically unlimited replayability. I paid full price and I'm happy with what I got.
Not Good. Tiny map. You have to have fast reflexes and click as fast as you can in combat (the video cuts off the bottom of the screen showing this silly "Golf swing" style mechanic thats blindingly fast. Dev says you can skip it but theres no way in game to turn it off). Very little depth. NOT endless at all. very limited. Cant make your own characters: you pick 4 pre-made characters from a list. very little world interaction. requesting refund dont buy this at anything more than $1.99 and thats probably still $1 more than what you get. there are better options for game choices if you like this style. I cant mention them by Terms of Service though.
Its worth every dollar
For a five dollar game, there's a metric ton of amazingness right in here. It's not too wide, nor too deep in terms of crunch. You have a few species to play, and your equipment determines what you do. You can start with up to four characters, and go up to 8. Everything is procedurally generated and open world. You do what you want to do. There's some bad places that open up after a while. You could set up trade routes if you want. It's really open. And for five bucks? It's an easy, easy recommend.
So I love and hate this game. Mostly love though. It scratches all the right itches for minor customization. There are some grammatical fixes that need to be put in place. Not really endless, can be do everything fairly quickly and really there are specific builds needed to really push through higher levels. Still, great casual fun. Some things I would love to see considered: -An alter or something one could use to remove bad or unwanted traits from characters. For a fee. Or maybe by completing a quest. -Unlockable player Werewolves would be awesome, since they're already in the game. Maybe you can purchase the trait after doing the druid outcast quest? IDK cuz I haven't finished that yet. Catching vampirism could be fun too - daytime penalties and night time bonuses, a life drain attack on cooldown, etc. -Some new quest types. Maybe a supply one where you deliver x number of swords, clubs, shields or armors would be fun, because you find so many while pillaging villains anyway. -Throw some craft goods and potions/food in with the loot? I only ever get weapons and armor as drops. -A quest to improve town's cash flow. I seem to run the towns out of money pretty often. Again, possibly because I find an armory's worth of loot every time I leave town. Regardless, really fun game with minimal required investment. Load and leave at a moments notice, great to kill 10 minutes or an entire evening. Lots of fun skill combinations.
It's Battle Brothers but for people who can't git gud. 10/10
actual really underated game. I played it on my steam deck and it was awesome.
TL:DL - buy it and play the ♥♥♥♥ out of it :D it is fun, it is well done, with solid mechanics and customisation + very engaged dev - really good deal ! I thought it could be fun - and it was. I thought it looks simple, clean and solid - and it was. I thought it offers freedom of choice - and, oh boy, it did ! Here you have a tactical grid-based group combat RPG set in a fantasy open, random-generated, living and upon-hero-independent world. You magically appear in the middle of everything happening. What can be happening ? First - the various cities grow, build buildings and communicate with each other. Then - the bandits try to mess with the everyone. THEN - random tombs, nests, dens and evil tower pop up to mess EVERYONE and EVERYTHING up (yep, even one another - great immersion!) AND THEN - evil agents manipulate and influence the cities (in a negative way...) and this in turn influences your progression - skills are bought, and money is tight. The start is rough, the end-game is GOD MODE (when done right, there might not be any end-game for you :D ) It reminds me of Rimworld - there is no set railroad - it s an RPG freeroam where you have to roleplay and create your own stories - it is actually fun, and here, it is done right. Wholeheartedly recommended ! Cheers !
