What you've got here is a nice indie tactics game with heart. If you love games like Battle Brothers, this game should be in your library.
Fun indy game. I am waiting for something that is a final boss. Something past defeating the seal challenges. Goblins rule. Every member should have their own wolf.
What a really fun and exciting game. The procedural maps are great for replay. Along with the classes charaters meaning you can mix and match any combo of skills you want. The dungeon crawlling is really interesting with a variety of events as you explore, so not just battles to move through the dungeon/ruins/caves. The game is super stable, no bugs and perfomance is smooth. I recommend this game for any rpg, dungeon crwalling, battle brother lite fans out there.
This is a solid sandbox game with lots to do and a tonne of character customization. I rank it up next to Battle Brothers, but with the fantasy aestetic.
Exactly what we mean when we call something a "hidden gem".
This game is extremely cool & ambitious. I always wanted this approach to sandbox RPG. Just the idea of it is exactly the direction I want: I'll list a few things that, in combination, make this great for me: - a big dynamic world map where units move around, towns can change over time, offer quests, send out patrols of troops and stuff just feels "alive," reminding me of Mount & Blade. It gives the impression that things are happening organically and independently of the player, and I hope it continues to explore that idea. - a variety of races & classes, customizable player characters & party members, reminding me of a DRPG like Etrian Odyssey or Wizardry. simulations of dialog & relationship building makes you care more for the characters, too. - turnbased SRPG tactical RPG, the best kind of turnbased RPG combat. Flesh this out further! Let's get elevation and more stuff going on, like Age of Wonders, Our Adventurer Guild or other more fancy Tactics RPG games. - interesting cave & ruins system where you can find surprising things in generated dungeons. I'm assuming much of the content is in places like these I don't love the art style - I'd prefer slightly smaller heads, haha. But that's just a taste thing and it's not that important. Fancier effects for skills and creature animations would go a long way, too - but the game does a lot with what it has so I should not complain. Hopefully I've only scratched the surface so far. This is the kind of framework for a sandbox RPG that I believe is the foundation for what could be my ideal game.
Actually really good.
I spent more hours in this game than I expected, what I like about this game is how simple everything is, which also can be a problem for someone who lacks imagination like me, core gameplay is great, but adding more features and things to do would be a massive improvement for the game.
Where has this game been hiding? This is a prime example of simple presentation hiding a massive level of creativity, I would say significantly more than the store page indicates. Several things weren't really clear to me regarding gameplay until I bought and began playing it, like the turn based combat being grid based rather than a static ATB final fantasy style system as some of the pictures would indicate. The level of interaction and jobs in towns aren't really mentioned other than talking about the dynamicism of the generated world, but to me it seemed from the store page like that world existed almost independently of the party's adventures, like it was just kind of a backdrop as you went dungeon diving. To clarify in case anyone had the questions I did after reading the store page, combat is movement and positioning based, the world exists parallel to your adventure with some opportunities to influence it in small ways, which is a really remarkable approach and makes your characters feel like citizens of the world you're in rather than the main characters. It creates a lot of really fascinating emergent stories without them explicitly having to be told. I do think there's a lot of opportunity to grow here and I hope the developer comes back to it. Having variations of events or more dialogue options rather than the same "it was the apprentice with the box" outcome every time would be relatively little writing to keep those events much more fresh and adaptable over the course of a playthrough. While there's enough gameplay here to last a few dozen hours per playthrough you'll unfortunately see most of the events in the world within the first 2 or 3 hours and they'll just repeat after that. Having variations or even random events and storylines based on your characters' personality hooks like in wyldermyth would just add some engagement with the world and make the settlements more distinct. All that said, this is really good. It relies a lot on the core gameplay loop and dynamic world but in a way that really sucks in the player and makes for enjoyable exploration and combat, and I really like the way settlement interactions are handled here. I sincerely hope to see more content from this developer.
