The unhinged roguelike for the tactically obsessed. Forget maps—your journey is a deck of Tarot cards you build on the fly. Manage a tight inventory, chain questionable combos, and watch your gear shatter. Got unlucky? The virtuous can resurrect; the sinful, however...

About
As fate would have it, you’ve stumbled upon this game. Might as well give it a try. Who knows what you might encounter… ayyy. Get it? Encounter is the name of the game. When I said, “who knows what you might encounter,” it was a play on words.

Encounter: The Lost Cards is a solo, turn-based roguelike where Tarot cards drive the journey. Each card represents an event—an enemy, a stranger, a blessing, a curse—and your run becomes a chain of choices that shape how far you make it.
There’s no traditional world map. Instead, you travel through a deck of encounters, learning how to read risks, build momentum, and survive whatever fate deals next.
Your adventure starts with a single crate. What’s inside? Something useful… or something that forces a painful tradeoff. Either way, you’ll meet oddballs, outlaws, and outright disasters—sometimes in the worst possible order.

A run is a sequence of cards. Every draw is a situation to solve: fight, bargain, gamble, retreat, or take a hit now to avoid something worse later.
Turn-based combat with action economy. Every move consumes energy or other resources. Winning isn’t about spamming attacks—it’s about timing, sequencing, and using your gear intelligently.
Adapt or die. The same card can be helpful early and lethal later on. Build your stats, equipment, and deck so you can turn bad draws into survivable outcomes.
Resource management is the real boss. Everything is limited: rare items break, inventory space is tight, and food runs out. Each pickup is a commitment—taking one thing usually means giving up another.
Managing resources is only the beginning; chaining actions together for strong combos is where the deeper strategy shows up.
If you like roguelikes, inventory management, a touch of deck-building, turn-based RPG combat, and nostalgic pixel graphics, you’ll feel right at home in Encounter.

✔ 250+ unique and powerful items
✔ 100+ adaptive encounters
✔ Inventory management
✔ Deck manipulation
✔ Action sequencing
✔ Deep, flexible builds

Encounter rewards patience, experimentation, and flexible planning. Fate will sometimes hit you with the worst possible timing—but if you learn the systems and make smart tradeoffs, you’ll start to feel the moment where “random” turns into something you can actually control.
It’s big-brain if you want it to be, but easy to pick up and play. Either way, your fate is in your hands… mostly.

It’s a fun game. The whole tarot card concept is quite unique and was interesting to figure out. It has a bunch of different mechanics that are great imo(the whole virtuous/sinful system which doesn’t necessarily makes one way better than another, the fact that each event has two variants which brings a ton of randomness into the run) and the whole RNG aspect can be mitigated if you know the game well I suppose my only issue with the game is that as far as I know, it’s not outwardly stated that the game is still in the active development. It’s definitely worth playing, but it seems like most of the negative reviews stem from that. You gotta get to properly figure out the game to beat it, but the moment you finally do it, you suddenly find out that the main story isn’t finished yet and there’s nothing to do anymore. Anyway, it’s worth buying and playing, but still a bit raw also I have around 20-30 hours minimum, I was just playing it on the mobile version, so it’s not shown here
So, i tried the game and i liked it. In general it's a rogue-like based on resource management, you need to get to an objective throgh a chain of encounters and you need to have enough resources to survive and win the fights. Some people say it's luck-based, but that's not entirely true, my runs after a few hours definetely got much further than when i was just starting out. Goog points: 1. Graphics 2. Music 3. Overall gameplay hooked me up 4. More deapth/progression than i thought. 5. There's a mobile version you can play for free if you have this game on Steam. 6. Interesting story-based tutorial 7. Morality system which allows to revive for free if you're good and has some punishing events if you're bad. 8. Good enough variety of events and itrms, each event has 2 verions, depending on is its tarot is flipped ot not. The bad points: 1. Meta-progeression is a bit wierd and slow. You get 1 scroll (1 is used per run) per real life day, playing with the scroll allows to earn meta-progression points (knowlege) to unlock new high-tier items, but if you don't play well, you won't get much at all and without scroll it's just reduced amount of XP to unlock chars and starting kit. 2. Not all mechanics are explained well in tutorial, like armor can block only up to 5 damage at a time and solud armor just means the armor point remains for the NEXT strike, not blocks 2 dmg outright. Or that stamina isn't fully refiled each turn and instead i have the stamina regen stat. 3. Progression after going through all minor cards (first 5 days) is not really guided in any way and some extra endings may need exploration. Basically, you don't know what to do and have to figure it out. Some do like it like this, tho. 4. After a dozen runs all minor acana events get a bit repetitive.
Encounter: The Lost Cards is a good roguelike! I dont usually like roguelikes but this one is pretty fun! 8/10
great look and feel
