Yet another item pool dilution game thats way too difficult for what it is. I thought other reviews were being too harsh, but it really only allows you one or two kinds of builds that actually work. Rerolling guarantees worse loot.
relies too heavily on RNG some runs you steam roll everything and others you barely make it to the boss if you are not lucky enough to get the right set items it is a failed run
a font in the game is terrible, your eyes start bleeding after few minutes a gameplay is boring, 90% of your time your read a loot description
DIdn't play the game for very long, but made it through the end several times. Based on my experience, character builds heavily rely on set items, however, as the game progress, more and more of new sets unlocked, while the number of loot opportunities remain the same, which makes it much harder to get ideal sets. I think the game should offer an option to disable those unlocked items.
This was ok at first but it gets insanely repetitive with little to no metaprogression. I thought I'd grind this out for the achievements but I just can't. Runs take way too long, build synergies are few and far in between, and the enemy variety is honestly just embarrassing. Feels more like a cool tech demo than an actual finished game, with only 3 characters, a handful of gear sets and like maybe a dozen enemies, you've seen everything the game has to offer in the first 2 hours, after that it's just grinding for achievements, that's it, nothing left to unlock, nothing left to discover. Maybe a choose-your-own-path map would have made this better, but in Overlooting, you just automatically move from one area to the next. Overall it doesn't make for very engaging gameplay imo and the couple hours I wasted thinking I could 100% this one in a couple days has left a sour taste in my mouth. If you can get it for dirt cheap, sure pick it up, but I would never pay full price for this when there's similar games out there that are infinitely better than this.
There's a lot here to love, but it definitely needs some work. I really like the core loop, it's nice and simple. But it quickly gets far to RNG dependent as you are leveling up, and there's no meta progression giving you re-rolls for loot, or ways to get into a better build. I think with some more time to cook, this can be a great game. I hope the devs put some more time into it, and take the feedback they are getting and polish it some more!
I got this through HB and fired it up thinking I was gonna close it after 5 minutes as is usually the case. Turns out it was way more fun than it should've been and I ended up playing it until I finished the game. Really scratches that loot itch!
32/32 Achievements... do i have to say more? :D
just not fun. i was actually pretty excited for this one from humble bundle but now i'm just happy i didn't pay more for it. definitely wouldn't recommend at full price. it's pretty boring, very rng heavy and runs can end in seconds because you can't use your health potions fast enough because enemies hit so strongly and randomly. autoplay is pretty weird and doesn't trigger if you don't click the screen yourself first. skills don't explain themselves very well and are not balanced. even the art is not polished. overall was surprised how little i was enjoying myself. for some reason there's no story at all either! you just get dropped in and that's it.
