About
Elsewhere is a sandbox crafting game that combines survival, exploration, quests, and magic with deep progression. Start with basic tools and gradually unlock new technology and/or magic systems as you explore the world and complete objectives. Build your base, try different playstyles, automate everything, and discover how far you can push your progression—from simple survival to hi-tech systems and powerful alchemy, with plenty of room for experimentation and long-term play.
The game is inspired by old-school Minecraft modpacks and features many new and unique features such as character creation, building templates, monster-filled castles, and many more.
Hi everyone! My name is Sergio, and Elsewhere is a game I’ve been developing since 2012. Since late 2018, I’ve been working on it nearly full-time. All code for the game is done by me, while the art assets are either done by me or by my more talented artist friends.

In Elsewhere, players can explore the world, fight monsters, and collect loot, or gather and process resources while gradually advancing from simple tools and medieval technology all the way to fusion power and particle accelerators.

The game also features magic, alchemy, ancient ruins and temples, and vast procedurally generated castles and dungeons filled with bosses to discover and conquer.

Players are guided by a quest system, though it doesn’t need to be followed linearly - or even at all. Building a fully automated Jaffa Factory, for example (or more precisely, a Chocolate Cookie Factory), can be a real challenge, with countless elements to consider and many resources to automate and process.

Elsewhere features a large, procedurally generated, and fully interactive world with dozens of unique biomes. Players can place and remove blocks, build castles and machines, gather and process resources, farm and cook food, explore ancient ruins and temples, fight monsters, avoid traps, collect loot, and much more. The game includes over 7,500 blocks, more than 6,000 recipes, and upwards of 300 quests.

The game includes pre-built bases and building templates, a wide variety of decorative blocks and items—including arcade machines with mini-games—along with character creation, pre-made skins, and many other unique elements.

Planned future features include NPC interactions, story elements, expanded modding support, and much more (see below).
Please note that while Elsewhere already includes most of its intended mechanics, it is still a work in progress. It’s also a very large game that takes time to fully explore and unravel.

The game features plenty of jokes and references, and there’s even a free-to-play modification called YogLabs: Testing Initiative, inspired by the YogLabs series. All Yogscast-related content is included with permission.

Elsewhere is built on a desire to recreate the joyful nostalgia and spirit of classic Minecraft modpacks. This game wouldn’t exist without the creativity of the hundreds of mods that inspired it - so I want to say a particular thanks to the modding community for their brilliance and dedication!

I am begging you, buy this game. Support the development of this game. I will write a proper review in the morning, I've been playing for 9 hours, I am deeply tired and deeply blazed, I need sleep. If you are a long time old school Yogscast fan like myself, and loved the classic Tekkit modpacks for Minecraft, and completely disagree with the direction Micro/Jang have taken modern MC, you will adore this. It has a little jank around the edges, not a single thing that'd ruin the experience however, and is being developed by literally a single man. If you want this to grow, fund it's development and get an amazing game in return. This may genuinely be the true Minecraft killer.
In development almost as long as Minecraft, and very much like Tekkit turned standalone game. I found out about this game and bought it within the week. I've often thought to myself that I really wanted a Minecraft modpack turned into an actual game, and this has given me just that. There are a lot more voxel sandbox games coming around lately, and I very much appreciate it, especially with so many of them actually trying to do something unique. If you like Minecraft modpacks, you'll likely have a great time with Elsewhere.
Highly addicting game. Yah it's a janky version of Minecraft, but it's so satisfying to play. The sounds I need to stay the same, the chill game play too. It can get pretty hectic too if you're looking for it, you'll find it. To me, it's like a mix of Minecraft and Vintage Story with QoL mods, well kinda. I'm really enjoying it, took me a sec bc initially I was a snob about it, but you end up loving it really fast after playing. Again - to me, best Minecraft like game you can find here on Steam. I def recommend it.
I didn’t sleep all night after downloading the game. It’s incredible. A slap? No, a hammer blow. I’m in love with this game. Yes, in love. I don’t care if people call me crazy or a clown. My life is decided now, it will be Elsewhere. My real life is over, everything else is over. I will just live Elsewhere and there’s no way anyone will drag me out. I even feel pity, almost anger and disgust, for those who don’t have the game. Some of them are even on my friends list, and I’m ashamed to say it. But I forgive them, because they don’t know. Some people walk straight, others walk backwards, but I walk Elsewhere. And that is something everyone envies. My only disappointment is that there are no achievements or badges to collect. But I trust the developer, and I sincerely hope he’ll add some. Intense farming achievements, like collecting 500,000 stones. Please dev, do it for me, the unknown player you don’t know. Meow.
if you loved the tekkit mod pack for minecraft then this will be right up your alley!
Minecraft clone/killer - well, not exactly. Hytale clone/killer - nah. Vintage Story clone/killer - no. What this is - a mostly lone dev passion project that's been in the works for years. There are several advantages that this game has over Minecraft, with the main one being that it already has built-in systems that you'd normally need mods for. Want to use magic - it's in there. Want to build windmills, waterwheels, and use them to power things - yep, in there. Want electricity or nuclear power - got that too. Also, while it has these things, modding will still be supported in the future. Other things to still be added include a train/rail system, boats, and a bunch of other things. Now, while that all sounds nice, there are obviously some caveats. Minecraft has been around for a very long time, and after MS purchased Mojang, they had quite a lot of money to "play" with, thus a larger group of coders, artists, etc. This game cannot match that, so the character models look a bit janky...well, janky af to be honest. Also, the biomes aren't quite as diverse as I'd like, and the spread between certain things appears too much, but he terrain generation (with rivers) isn't too bad. They've got a built-in quest/campaign system too. You don't need to follow it, but it teaches you about the game and you earn coins. The coins can be used to purchase several things in-game, including blueprints for an automated builder. You feed the blueprint to the builder, and then feed in the required components, and soon you'll have a factory, or hovel, or tower. If it isn't already in the game, or planned, it would be cool to take your own existing structures and turn them into blueprints for reuse or sharing. There are some rough spots like the map system, progression (needs more work), the rather empty feeling overworld, and some seriously weak mobs. However, I've only had one crash so far, and have encountered zero bugs - meanwhile Minecraft always gives me problems. It can't beat Minecraft in the looks and polish departments, but it is a work-in-progress. Give it a shot, but realize what you are purchasing - this isn't AAA and is far from finished, so it could be a long time before the big ticket features are added.
it's basically a minecraft modpack sort of focused on automation stuff. I'm not sure if it has anything that separates it from Minecraft, I tried once asking for the dev to sell me on why look forward to this instead of Minecraft but he just said that he isn't concerned about that as there will be differences that happen naturally. I suppose one difference this has is that there's a quest system where one quest says to get X copper and then the following quests tell you what to do with the copper and so on. So I guess if you'd like a game that gives you clear goals and doesn't want you to mess around with it's systems too much outside of those goals then this might be good(Don't Starve for example originally had a quest system but got rid of it since it tends to make players just focus on doing the quests instead of properly engaging with the world) Anyway I do like automation but ultimately this doesn't seem like my thing. The "humor", references to things I don't know about and overall style doesn't really appeal to me and neither did the obviously lying disclaimer at the start saying that it has nothing to do with a game owned by an "evil corporation" despite it's own page saying it's inspired by Minecraft.
Tekkit without the minecraft. peak.
Minecraft killer!!
A better version of Minecraft. No idiotic mobs like Creepers that instakill you or Skeletons with bows. The more Biomes it has next to each other make the game so much more interesting than Minecraft.
