Underwater platformer of your dreams. Save aqua creatures from extinction and you do so by activating shards to disperse poisonous substance that tries to pollute their habitat. Gameplay is a bit slow but relaxing. Creature can take on two shapes, one is bipedal and another for swimming like a manta ray. Overall seems like a nice game but wonky controls and hard to maneuver underwater gliding is too much to handle. Visuals are nice with distinctive scenery. Characters are interesting and game have its charm. Execution a bit buggy sometimes and those controls make it hard to recommend. Still not that bad underwater game.
If It's one thing that I hate It's flying simulators but this game showed me that It can get better over time and I quite enjoyed the game. The beautiful and colorful graphics, nice little story and characters that reminded me about furries or dragon fandom from DeviantArt few years back. It's really good game.
"Ellisar" is a reasonable enough third person platformer with a mild environmental message and an oceanic theme. A bit like Abzu from Temu, I guess. You explore the world in this casual platformer with two modes, walking and swimming. Unfortunately not a lot of effort was put into polishing the swimming sections and the controls are pretty bad, hinting at a kind of console-centric design philosophy which always harms the overall quality of any game. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Yes, believe it or not. This just scrapes over the "maybe" mark due to the agreeable price point, no donationware nags or MTX, and you get a "complete" gaming experience for nothing. While this is far from a perfect game, the deficiencies and drawbacks can be overlooked due to the zero up front price and the value you get out of it. It's greater than the sum of its parts, and worth downloading if you're a fan of this kind of gaming experience. But do be warned about the swimming controls and camera stuff... hopefully the developer will come back one day and fix that.
