About
Eclipse Breaker is a timing‑driven action roguelite that asks you to dodge, parry, and counter in real‑time combat while forging ever‑shifting builds from the divine powers you collect. Conquer procedurally generated dungeons ruled by elemental gods, recruit the lingering spirits of lost allies, and push toward a climactic showdown with the sun‑goddess Solara. Built from scratch yet wrapped in late‑’90s PlayStation flair, every run rewrites the battlefield and your fate until you finally make your last stand.
Every battle balances timing and relentless divine punishment. Dodge attacks, block incoming strikes, and reposition on the battlefield while managing cooldowns, chaining abilities, and seizing the perfect moment to strike.
Procedurally generated dungeons shaped by the elemental gods who rule them. Defeat these celestial warriors and discover new elemental abilities, crafting new builds every run. No two runs are the same.
Select from a roster of Companion Spirits, the lingering souls of Ember’s former friends and party members. They grant powerful abilities, guide her through battle, and challenge her with their own regrets, humor, and memories. Their past lives fuel your fight, and who you bring with you shapes your journey.
Battle a pantheon of bosses and enemies, each with unique attack patterns, elemental abilities, and unpredictable tactics.
In the late ‘90s, a legendary JRPG was released and all but forgotten. OK, maybe it wasn’t…
But if it had, Eclipse Breaker would have been the kind of game you rented from a video store and played obsessively. Now, returning to your save file after 25 years, this lost classic is making its grand return and morphed from a classic JRPG to an action roguelite; fully “remastered” (read: developed from scratch) with smooth mechanics, enhanced visuals, and the challenge modern fans crave.
Back in ’99 you led paladin Ember toward a showdown with the rogue sun‑goddess Solara… then life (or a corrupted save) intervened. Twenty‑five years later, you’re loading that save again. Ember returns to a world still shrouded in darkness, hailed as myth by some and blamed by others. To restore the sun, she must storm the Divine Realm run after run, mastering new powers and rewriting fate until the cycle finally shatters.
Hey everyone, I’m Jorge Rodriguez, the developer behind Eclipse Breaker. This game is a love letter to the roguelites and PlayStation-era RPGs that shaped my love for gaming: fast-paced battles, deep mechanics, and a world full of mystery and danger. We’ve had a blast crafting this ‘remaster’ of a game that never actually existed, and I hope you enjoy discovering it as much as we enjoyed making it.
If you’re curious, try the demo! Your feedback means the world to us, and we’d love to hear what you think. Whether you’re here for the strategic combat, the nostalgia, or just to break the cycle, thanks for giving Eclipse Breaker a shot. Now get out there, challenge the gods, and let’s see if you can survive.

Been playing the demo till this gem finally released offically.. and... game straight up changed my life and raddled my bones from within every clash Ember, does, every parry... every frickin second makes me feel like i gotta let out a fat "BABABOOEY" the game possesses a pretty replayable structure, so new runs still feel fresh and so are the upgrades I can easily play for hours bc the battle mechanics are quite fun and addicting once you can spam upgrades on one of your abilities to abuse lol my fav ability "Glorious Assault" (aka E key) is so satisfying when you can place Ember is the the right position to attack multiple enemies at once when used, if you get good at doing that, you can EASILY wipe out tons of enemies in a short amount of time not to mention the whole parry/dodge sequences you have to do is pretty fun too, I love how it stress tests ur reaction time to really make sure you can sufficiently dodge/block anything i also think the devs did a great job with the animations on when the bosses attack (just like Dark Souls) each animation of their attacks look different so you can kinda predict in a split second what they're gonna do, and react appropriately The whole battle system is well thought out and designed and i'm honestly surprised this game isn't more popular With that being said.... that E key stronger than my minoxidil 💀 (my hair loss medication) God is good. Eclipse Breaker is glorious.
I hate leaving a negative review for this game. I think the developers worked hard on this.
There is a lot of good here. The aesthetics as a whole are good, the principles you follow in roguelite progression are solid, and some power combinations are cool. The issue is that each run starts off so boring. When you get around the third biome in your run before the double boss, your build CAN start come to life. I say CAN because there is a lot of absolute worthless fluff upgrades you can get RNG'd into. Certain elements are bad on their own but can combine into amazing combos. This makes me dread my moments in the beginning where I've started with Fire and know how weak it's going to be. Then after slowly wacking the same few mobs the game has to get my next element and then HOPE and equipment upgrade offers me the power combo upgrade. There's a chance you set yourself up for the combo and don't get it and then you're just stuck with incredibly weak fire and another element. It's so grueling to replay the first 2 biomes because it goes so slow. You might get lucky and grab a nice element upgrade to help facilitate some fun. Maybe even a decent equipment upgrade to help. I feel less like the RNG is determining if I am strong enough to make it to the end, which is a big part of it, but more whether or not I'm going to super slowly clear the levels or clear them explosively and in a very fun way. Cool combinations and upgrades exist but you're many runs between these cool upgrades. I'm not sure if I eventually unlock a re-roll when granted upgrades but I haven't gotten one yet. I've cleared Solara twice because I keep thinking the runs are going to get more fun, but ultimately the 2 runs where I cleared Solara were my most fun because my build actually rounded out and was cool. Meta progression is extremely slow in the skill tree and offers tons of flat powerful upgrades for your character. Stacking them will make a tremendous difference in your overall damage output. Properly kitted out in the skill tree could easily double to triple your damage output, maybe more. The action economy in the game feels off in general. Your magic ability is pretty horrible because you can't trigger it. Even with a partners upgrade that makes it aoe, it's still a much worse option than your special MOST of the time. Magic offers a higher modifier for elements but it has worse upgrade offerings through your arena clear upgrades. Your special on the other hand benefits from both trigger, special AND backstab upgrades which give you a lot more variety and more importantly ways to correct a run that is going poorly from RNG. So you can dash effortlessly across the whole map hitting every target you cross with every cooldown, proccing tons of stuff and getting a trigger... Or you can use your magic, hope enemies are close enough with the AOE upgrade, get no trigger or backstab proc and work that way. There's a tandem upgrade where you can mark with magic and then pop it but you're then using the much worse magic skill that does less damage anyways to amp your normal skill that could do more damage for both hits with the SAME action meter.
TL;DR

Pros
-Cool aesthetic -Good idea for a combat system, not completely exciting -Some neat skill combinations that create fun gameplay -Bosses are very cool -Devs clearly worked hard on this
Cons
-First 2 biomes are so tedious because your build is so basic -the RNG truly determines if you'll have any fun at all in your run, in addition to clearing it -Certain characters power changes for your main character are really weak -Certain elements are mostly horrible until you get a combination upgrade through the hopes of RNG -Action economy could be retooled, it's hard to want to use the worse action abilities like magic -Enemy variety is low -Meta progression is very slow, this could be a pro for some people, but it's both slow and primarily basic stat improvements.
TL;DR: Play this game, for God's sake! Slightly longer review: picked this up on a whim and was immediately struck with a strange feeling. I felt like I was playing parts of so many games from my childhood but without the desire to actually go play them - I wanted to play more Eclipse Breaker! Very rare that I get that feeling from a game without it being due to that game being a worse version of another game that I love. Eclipse Breaker just NAILS 'the feels'. The combat had me in a flow state in minutes, I love the music and art design (the running animation was made with love and detail, clearly!) and just about everything else I've encountered so far, too. At a higher level: this is the sort of game that makes me think about people who complain about AI slop ruining culture and creativity. This game and with a unique vibe like it (Pseudoregalia, Metro Gravity, Mortal Sin, Astlibra to name a few) deserve to be paraded as what creative design is all about. If you (like me) want to protect this creativity, put your money where your mouth is and buy this game! Putting this review down so I can spread the word, then get right back to playing ;)
The game's fun at its core. I love the Vagrant Story-esque hybrid battle system. But it's undercooked. I would not readily recommend the game to a friend. Player meta-progression is glacial. Enemy stats bloat with each biome. The better you play, the more you suffer, fighting through drawn-out encounters the developer expects you to die against. Despite its direct inspiration from classic JRPGs, the HUD/UI/menus are dreary in sound and visuals do not cohere. Sound effects are limp and play late in an attack animations, making poor telegraphs. Many enemy attacks lack sound entirely. Attack indicators and enemy wind-up animations are confusing. One recolored enemy attacks you at the end of its walk animation, where the previous recolor doesn't. I constantly run into bugs with cutscenes and prompts. Combat will continue without pausing through dialogue sequences... Tutorial prompts linger past their introduction and completion... Advancing too quickly through dialogue causes issues... Stuff like that.
Game is Fun Definitely recommended.
An incredibly unique gameplay structure (real-time turn-based) with an amazing and very original setting. I wasn't super impressed just reading the description of the different Spirits (classes) but they all feel super unique in actual gameplay; I'm insanely impressed by this. Also a super responsive dev team; posted a performance issue I had in the discord and they said it should be fixed in the next patch asap. All in all, great game made by great people :)
A good roguelike gives you the feeling of wanting to go on one more run no matter how many how times you've done so in a single session. With my hours so far in Eclipse Breaker, the game easily gives a strong feeling one more run feeling.
I don’t usually play JRPGs, but Eclipse Breaker pulled me in fast. The combat feels surprisingly snappy for being turn-based, and the rogue-lite progression kept every run interesting. I kept wanting to try new builds just to see how far I could push them. The bosses are all unique and genuinely fun to figure out, every fight feels like a new puzzle. Even after finishing a few runs, I kept coming back for “just one more.” If you enjoy roguelites or experimenting with different play styles, this one’s a gem.
awesome game super fun and unique combat
