YUZO KOSHIRO IS BACK BABY!!! An amazing shoot'em up game with an incredible heart pounding soundtrack, good challenge and awesome graphics that push the Genesis hardware with awesome graphical scaling. My only complaint is that the soundtrack price is as much as the game. I love your music Yuzo, but come on man, that's crazy LOL
There isn't a dev around that can more completely continue the Genesis/Megadrive spirit and aesthetic. I love the soundtrack and that it's still pushing what's possible to render on a 16bit system. Looking forward to grabbing the physical cartridge when available
This game is fantastic if you meet it on its own terms, a sega genesis game with a couple design flaws, a bit rough around the edges. But that doesnt stop it from getting a spot easily on the top 10 Megadrive games of all time, along Shinobi 3, MUSHA, Streets of Rage 2, Lightening Force and Castlevania Bloodlines. Hell, the sound designer actually crafted the OST for this, SoR and Shinobi, and it doesnt dissapoint at all on this entry. I bought this initially for the ps5 along with extra copies for two friends, + obviously my steam copy, do I regret buying this game 4 times? Not at all, shmups deserve more love and support. My biggest complains would be that, on steam deck at least, the reset button crashes the game so you have to close and restart it. Also the lack of savestates is a mayor pain for practicing your 1cc, I actually had to get a, uhm, rom to practice with savestates through emulation, although I may just suck at shmups, as apparently a lot of people got their first 1cc easily after just starting the game. Mine on normal did take roughly 15 hours across platforms but it was time well spent, I will definitely be returning to it throughout the years.
I love this game, but at some point an update forced it into a different language and no matter what I can't get it back to English.

Will end up being regarded as one of the best shmups on the Genesis. Great visuals and gameplay that is challenging yet feels fair. The mechanic that allows you to restart a run with your existing upgrades is interesting, but feels overpowered to me (too easy to beat the game with a fully stacked ship). Maybe on harder difficulties this becomes more fair/essential to use. I also must say while the music is very good, I was expecting a few more hyper-memorable tracks from Yuzo Koshiro. Perhaps it's my fault for expecting Streets of Rage-like house tracks in this genre, but even still, shmups need amazing music and the music here is merely very good. But it's still very good.
masterpiece for retro lovers
Games good. Soundtracks good. It's forgiving enough for bad shmup players (like myself) to enjoy themselves while also still offering a challenge for vets. I enjoyed this greatly.
One of the best SHMUPs of all time & a modern classic. Intense, action-packed space SHMUP heroics with top-tier graphics & music. Fans of THUNDERFORCE, R-TYPE, GRADIUS & DARIUS are required to play EARTHION. A+ Please hurry up with EARTHION II
