To put it bluntly, the game is terrible. If you can even get into the game without the menus freezing or losing connection, the gameplay itself is utter garbage. You are forced to use the 3-Click system whether you want to or not since the over/under-swing mechanic on the sticks is humanly impossible to do. Even with perfects on the 3-Clicks, the ball will rarely ever go where you want, and hazards seem to have super ball magnets in them. Putting is atrocious, as the grid system changes the break on its own whims and the putt assist mode is wrong 90% of the time. Then to top things off, the whole game is just a microtransaction grind scam to begin with. Easily the worst golf game I have ever played.

Absolutely not worth the money,...! And on top not really playable due to limited functions and limited control options as well as only imperial system numbers ,... very much a ghame that could be something in 2004 but not in 2025! Thanks for robbing me
When the game is stable, running without lag on my PC, I really enjoy the experience and the range of courses. (refer my PC specs) I control the game with an Elite series 2 Xbox controller. I have the Steam version for PC and I keep it current. On a fairly regular basis this game goes laggy and the swing timing is very unpredicable, which makes for a crap game experience. I have turned off most of the graphics enahancements (like other players, crowds, shaddows etc) and it still randomly misbehaves. It was so bad I gave up playing for a while until I learned about turning off most of the video features. I have played browser based games in the past with a more reliable game mechanic for consistent play experience. For the price and given this is an EA title, I think there is a significant amount of work needed to make the play experience consistent across platforms and PC specifications.
What an absolute piece of garbage !! In the menus you cant update the item you point to, it changes the item above your pointer (NOT the highlighted row). I can play racing games at full resolution with no hitches, I had to keep setting the graphics lower and lower to get ANY kind of decent frame rate. Worst part is I left it running while I went to the store and now I can't refund the $8 I spent on it. Pretty bad when a Triple A game is not even worth $8. I will never buy another EA game.
The gameplay is good, using the 3-click method since I'm on a PC. But, it's not perfect. You can hit the ball perfectly on the swing meter, and it randomly goes well off-target anyway...drives me nuts (yes, I accounted for wind). Graphics are good but not flexible. I have a 3840x1200 monitor, and while other games offer this resolution, this one does not...I have to opt for a lower 2560x1080. More graphics settings would be nice. The thing I hate most about the game...zero stats. Wanna know your best score at Augusta...better write it down on paper, cause you won't find it in the game. Played a course 10 times, and wanna know your average score on Hole 12...again, you have to have transcribed all your hole scores to paper. Want to compare you recent plays to see how you are improving...you can't. This game has potential to be great...but lack of some key features holds it back. A driving range and practice putting green are also lacking. I need lots of practice with my chipping at the green. Would help greatly if it gave you the option to practice, hitting many shots greenside until you figured it out. Changing your golf ball is impossible. After 50 rounds, the only option I have is for the standard ball. In real life I play with a yellow ball, but no options here. You slowly get options for new balls, which cost money. Balls are an expendable resource.. You should have many ball options out of the gate with zero cost to the player. I would give it 2 stars. One taken off for graphics, ball choices, and stats. UPDATE: The game forces you to play with a controller if you play online, so I got a controller. The way they have the swing set up with a controller is stupid. The swing moves so fast that hitting a precise amount of power on the swing is impossible. The putting scale is way too small, almost need a magnifying glass to see it and be precise. They should ditch the interface for the controllers, and make it match the 3-swing method. I find the game unplayable online with the controller method. Unfortunately, online is where you stand the chance to earn money for upgrading your equipment. Since they don't offer money you can buy in their store, the moneymaking process is woefully inadequate. I played Career Mode, and won a PGA tournament...but got zero money/tokens you could spend to upgrade your clubs. After playing 50+ rounds, I still have the same money/tokens that you start the game with
