Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.33/day in the week to Aug 4 → 6.29/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 21 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 12 places towards #1, and the 2,501 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Prepare for the deepest, most intricate simulation of a world that has ever been created.

Not just generated geometry -- a whole simulated world. Generated rise and fall of civilizations, personalities, creatures, cultures, etc. Infinite hours of gameplay.
Now with beautiful pixel graphics!
Learn the basics with in-game tutorials
A lifetime “living” project - created/updated since 2003, with no end in sight
Generate your unique world and manage a bustling colony of dwarves, even as they probably mine towards their eventual demise.
A new endless hobby, just for you!

The legendary Dwarf Fortress is now on Steam! Build a fortress and try to help your dwarves survive, despite threats of starvation, dragons, and madness.

In this complex construction/management/roguelike simulation, every generated world brings a unique challenge, whether it’s dwarves with their own simulated personalities or aquifers. Observe what makes your civilization fall into eventual decline, and learn for next time… until something else inevitably goes wrong.
The combat model includes skills, body parts, material properties, aimed attacks, wrestling, pain, nausea, various poison effects, and much more.
It’s difficult to convey the depth of the generation. Hundreds of animals and monsters, many of which are randomly created for each world, as well as generated poetry, musical forms, instruments, and dances for your dwarves to practice and perform. A dynamic weather model tracks wind, humidity, and air masses to create fronts, clouds, storms, and blizzards. Over two hundred rock and mineral types can appear, in their proper geological environments.
Remember: Losing is fun!

This is still good old Dwarf Fortress, but with graphics support and music provided. A few bells and whistles won’t change its essence.
Classic Dwarf Fortress mod-artist Jacob "Ironhand" Bowman collaborated with artists Carolyn Jong and Neoriceisgood to create an all-new sprite pack for the game, which they continue to add to regularly.
Dwarf Fortress also has hours of music in a two-volume soundtrack by Dabu and Simon Swerwer, including tracks in the Dwarvish language!
It's never been easier to start playing! We've improved the new player experience with the addition of tutorials to guide you through building your first fort and keeping your dwarves happy.

Command your dwarves as they search for wealth in their generated mountain. Your dwarves will need a steady supply of food and beer, but they’ll also need your guidance in surviving attacks from hostile civilizations, the wilderness, or even the dead.
Craft treasures and furnitures from various materials
Establish a barony and support the increasingly demanding nobility
Read your dwarves’ thoughts to keep them happy
Build floodgates to divert water for farming, and/or prevent magma mishaps
Build structures and watch your dwarves discover and build their culture, like taverns, libraries, temples, honey, wax, pottery, animal training, bookbinding, and more.
Go anywhere! Explore any civilization, earn a reputation, and recruit followers to join you
Experience your fortress and the simulation in a new, more embodied way
Explore mythical dungeons to find magical items, artifacts, and fill your quest journal
Hints of mythology and magic as a start of future simulation enrichment to come
An additional hour of music from Dabu and Simon Swerwer, presented as a second volume of the original soundtrack

Dwarf Fortress - Simple in presentation, yet steeped in complexity. While the game might look like something that was spawned in the 80's - there is a lot going on within the game world itself and is actually one of the more complex simulations you can play. Dwarf Fortress is an interactive story-creating experience. There is a lot of text involved - so if you don't like reading.... this might not be the one for you. With that said, even if you gloss over a lot of the text there is a deep and engaging experience for you to get immersed in. Before you even start a new game, players are required to create a new world and in doing so, Dwarf Fortress will simulate the passage of time (250 years by default) and create a historical legacy for the world the player is about to embark upon. NPC's of all races set out to explore the world setting up villages, towns, cities and dungeons throughout the game world encountering (and exploiting) the various flora and fauna located within any particular region / biome. They establish complex relationships amongst one another, establishing trade routes and alliances, waging war while, charting the rise and fall of various civilisations. And it's all done before even hitting the "play" button. There are three game modes to engage in : 1. Dwarf Fortress - This is your classic city building god game. A party of 7 dwarfs set out to a location of your choosing carrying provisions that may or may not have been picked by the player with the goal to establish a thriving settlement. 2. Adventurer - Allows you to create a player character and enjoy the game world as a top-down RPG. There's just too much in the game for me to write in this review. All I can say is - it really comes down to the type of video games you like. If you enjoy games that are run at a slower pace, and operate in a similar vein to Dungeons & Dragons. Then this one is definately for you.

recuerda perder es divertido :V ,la verdad es un juego muy completo en construcción de bases y manejo de fortalesas lo mas importante es recordar no buscar completar todo en un poco tiempo es un juego de paciencia y pensamiento a largo plazo
An absolute classic for those with specific tastes. True to the sprit of the original ascii graphics based game with a few of the rough edges filed off. Still actively supported with a thriving community of like minded savages, the game will reward those who are willing to invest a little time in the learning curve. Probably best enjoyed by those not obsessed with "winning" or those in a hurry though. The games world generation system is a standout, cranking out detailed world maps with detailed geography, geology, and plant biomes. True to its' era, the procedural generation does run a little thin on the text history, so location and faction names can feel pretty sloppy if you read them for detail, but the dev team built full language systems for elven, dwarven, and goblin civilizations. I recommend new players start by reading the Dwarf Fortress Wiki quickstart guide and play in adventure mode a little to get a feel for things before going all in on Fortress mode. Also, tweaking the world gen settings can make getting used to the game and controls easier on your first worlds. Lastly, there is a grand tradition in DF to embrace the art of failure. Instead of obsessing over executing perfect play and planning in the beginning, slow the game speed down and just let the clock run. Focus on finding a figuring out one thing at a time, starting with basics like mining and farming. When your fort crashes, figure out what went wrong, and either back out to a save or restart the fort and keep at it. You will learn more and faster on the fly. Embrace this and you will unlock the key to understanding the time honored DF phrase "Dying is Fun"
love my dwarves, love the game, looking forward to future development
I absolutely love Dwarf Fortress. The sheer complexity of the game is probably what I enjoy most about it. There is always something new to learn, some mechanic I didn't know about, or a different way I could have built and managed my fortress. The amount of freedom and creativity it gives you is incredible. You can build your fortress however you want, experiment with different ideas, and just see where things go. The generated worlds and histories also make every playthrough feel different, and some of the best moments come from the completely unexpected stories that develop naturally while you're playing. It's definitely a game with a learning curve, but for me, learning how everything works is part of the fun.

Talvez uma das melhores coisas que já aconteceu na minha vida.
Limitless possibilities of [strike] dwarves finding ways to die [/strike] fun. World generation and RP potential are *chef's kiss*
Великая игра. Ещё играл лет десять назад, когда не было в стиме. Приятно видеть прогресс с тех пор.
