2/5 While the ominous oppressive atmosphere, worldbuilding and storytelling make this game very unique, it feels at odds with its own idea of what it wants to be. The potential for a great story is there but it seemingly just refuses to go all the way and even backpedals from achieving greatness in some areas in order to serve more 90s shooter tropes instead of embracing its own identity. The level design is a super mixed bag with great highs and nauseating lows. The game is very cool to think about but it can, at times, be a pain in the ass to play. A strong indicator of things to come from David Szymanski but I think his best work is still ahead. P.S. Big John alone brings my rating down a whole star, what an awful annoying level.

Spooky boomer shooter. The game is pretty fun and really helps put that old boomer shooter vibe in well. I like the arsenal of weapons with my three favorites being the sword, the super (doom) shotgun and the hunting rifle. The enemy design is really cool and wacky, I like how there is your usual kinda spooky stuff like the cultists, the sword guys and wendigos, then there is those weird ass enemies in Chapter 3 that have their mouths wide open, the goofy chomper and the flying boney guys that shoot a billion skulls. Overall, really interesting enemy design and probably my favorite part of the game. XD I recommend this game to anyone who has played other fast paced shooters, you will enjoy this one too. I mean even if you're new to the whole genre I would recommend this game to you, its really fun!
