Reviews
I can now write reviews on steam so much faster thanks to this game 👍
ALRIGHT so hear me out, this is probably one of those games you might've come across by accident, since Steam™ most likely won't feature it in the new tab like many other hidden gems that get glossed over but I urge you to try it. If you're looking for something nice to chill and unwind to, this game is for you, however If you're looking for an insane challenge to your typing prowess, then this game is STILL for you! It does both, and quite well! We're all a little familiar with typing games, but usually they're not made as work of passion but rather as just some program to help you type faster. I've never come across something like this a proper video-game for fellow typing enthusiasts. From the subtle humor of the game, to the accessibility options for dyslexic people, You can truly feel that the developer had the end players in mind while making this game, it was a labor of love. It crosses the rogue-lite genre with typing in such a simple way that leaves you saying "how did i not think of this?" Did i mention it has achievements? I was able to write this review in -6 seconds thanks to the hour of Dungeons & Keyboards™ I played before. THIS COULD BE YOU TOO!
pretty neat little typing game! hoping for more gamemodes or anything extra in the future, would certainly make this one of the best typing games ever lol
Dungeons & Keyboards is a typing game with a beautiful retro vibe. The main game feature 200 floors with increasingly tougher enemies and a fitting chiptune soundtrack playing in the background as you slay countless enemies on your ascension to the top of the tower. I believe the game has even more to offer after you finish the main game (possibly infinite floors?), but do keep in mind it is a typing game in it's essence so the experience is a little limited. That's exactly why this game includes a few ways to improve your experience, by buying consumables, leveling up and buying relics. There are even challenges if you dare... The right combination of these will allow you to have an easier time climbing the tower, but keep in mind that you need to have a certain level of typing skills in order to fully appreciate Dungeons & Keyboards! Overall, a short and fun typing game with a beautiful artstyle!
I like the idea for the game and also the pixel-style is matching my expectations of such. The downside of this approach is that you just focus on the actual shown word and lose the view for the dungeon and the little graphics arround. If there would be more interaction with the enemy like specific timings for attacks or that the words are linked to the enemies, I guess the immersion would be greater. Maybe some (different) rest places (with effects and items) or additional cut scenes would make it a more unique adventure. 1 hour of grinding the tower and the hope for more futures to replay in the future. For me the price for the game was on the edge to say it is worth.
Just play a free browser typing game if you have an itch for that. The upgrade system is boring number go up, the shop choices mean little because you just buy them all every run, you don't pay attention to anything other than the word that pops up because it's the only interactive thing and the timer (that's not near the word for some reason?) starts ticking when the new enemy pops up and not when you start typing. I don't care about the art style, it's functional but I can't really get a chance to look at much due to the way the game's designed and the UI is positioned. The words being random kinda sucks, it'd be nice if they were more themed around the enemies that popped up, but it's just a big list that dumps words of varying difficulty. It says it's supposed to choose from the hard list more frequently the further you go in, but random selection from everywhere just sucks.
Can’t stop playing! Lovely concept, great execution! My fingers are burning!
Love the old school style and music. Once you start the game has a great one more go appeal. Improves typing skills too!
Really cool game, it's very reminiscent of games I'd play as a kid to learn how to type. I originally got this to practice taking faster notes while playing tabletop RPG's, but sometimes I just play it for the fun of it. I haven't beaten it yet but I won't give up!
