About
Dune: Awakening is an epic Open World Survival Game where you get to fully immerse yourself in one of science fiction’s most iconic worlds.
You have been chosen by the Bene Gesserit to go to Arrakis as their agent and uncover the mystery of the missing Fremen. Visit locations such as Arrakeen and Hagga Basin and meet familiar characters such as Duke Leto Atreides and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, as you unravel an epic Dune story never told before: yours.
Whether you prefer to play alone or with friends, Dune: Awakening gives you the opportunity to explore a vast, open world Arrakis brimming with secrets to discover, stories to investigate, gadgets to craft, vehicles to assemble, and bases to build. You choose which path to take as you rise from survival to greatness.
Avoid the roaming sandworms. Seek shadows to stay out of the scorching sun. Study the slow blade or learn to master the powers of the Mentat and Bene Gesserit. Build a modest home or a massive base and decorate it to reflect your character’s unique personality. Climb mountains or craft your ornithopter and take to the skies.
Dune: Awakening gives you a living, breathing Dune on a scale never seen before.
Discover a dynamic and immersive Arrakis, from the rolling sand dunes of the Deep Desert to hidden Fremen caves and the bustling city streets of Arrakeen. Climb towering mountains with the Shigawire hook and fly across sandworm-infested deserts in an ornithopter you built yourself. Escape the destructive might of the massive sandstorms towering above you as they sweep across the landscape, then take a quiet moment to witness the beauty of Arrakis when the sun is low.
In Dune: Awakening, you get to step into the books and movies and experience one of science fiction’s most incredible worlds up close. Join the Atreides or the Harkonnen and rise through their ranks as you explore their unique stories. Meet familiar characters such as Duke Leto and Feyd-Rautha, investigate the mysterious disappearance of the Fremen, and discover the truth about your own past. Unravel an epic, cinematic Dune story that asks the mind-bending question: what if Paul Atreides was never born?
Arrakis is a test that few survive. Those who do, awaken. Learn to survive the unique climate of Arrakis, chasing shade and extracting liquid from the bodies of your enemies to refine it into water. Study the teachings of the Schools of the Imperium to unlock a powerful repertoire of abilities, weapons, and tools. Wield the Trooper’s unparalleled firepower, use the Bene Gesserit voice to control your enemies, deploy the Mentat’s deceptive traps, or master the Swordmaster’s unique dance of death.
Carve out your own piece of Arrakis and build your personal base of operations. From small outposts to elaborate and towering strongholds, build everything piece-by-piece in the Atreides or Harkonnen style, or any of the other available architectural styles, and decorate it to reflect your personality. Equip it with powerful crafting machines and spice refineries and watch your power and fortune grow. Craft anything from useful desert-survival gadgets to entire vehicles such as ground cars and ornithopters.
Play alone, with friends, or head into the wider world filled with hundreds of other players and engage in the politics of Arrakis. Host your own server, rent one from a third-party provider, or play on an official server. A full single-player mode will arrive on September 22nd, along with many other additions and improvements.

This thing does not run that well on steamdeck, but I literally could not care less. Game is awesome and I haven't played anything else since I got it. Conan exiles was fun, but I lost interest after about 40 hours. I'm currently 140 hours into dune, farming spice like crazy and don't look to be slowing down any time soon.

Play in the sand, build base. Kill people, move and rebuild base. Get spice, rebuild base, but bigger. Don't like the way the base is, rebuild it. Draw penises in the spice sand. Move base to be near necessary materials. Nose dive in the middle of the desert. Get eaten by Rebecca the Worm, multiple times. Rebuild base. All in all, the game is fun... At first. I have over 500 hours in the game. I loved it, but then I got to end game and lost interest. The updates are fine.... but.... when those missions are done, you're left with nothing to do again to keep interest.
Managed to capture the hype around the Dune movies quite well. Played with a friend and stopped around 60% of the content. Considering base building and survival is usually not my type of game, it enthralled me quite a bit for the time I played. The storms and having to plan around the harsh conditions with water consumption was handled quite well. I intend to hop back in when single player gets a bit more focus.
I keep coming back, at first you will binge play then it becomes your staple game you tend to while you play other games too, which is great to have, progress for this survival game is slower but for a good reason. There are many milestones in this game and they all feel like you really accomplished something. The game is pretty deep as well, so your gonna be learning new things regularly. For your Map Size junkies its stupendously large especially in the mid game when you can access the Deep Desert "map that has resets and PVP" as well as Overland Map "essentially large dungeons''.
Scratches every itch I have for gaming. The fact that a small private server I can host with my friends is dirt cheap and it allows me to explore and play the game my own way is amazing, but playing solo has been more than fulfilling. I have even offered to buy this game for my friends if they want to play. In my opinion, combat is immersive and fun, even with the few bugs that are there. When you get strong enough, there's some real "Aura Farm" like moments- Like, when you can walk into a camp of scrappers and just cut them down without taking a hit to your shield, then steal their corpses for their moisture. The sandworms, sandstorms and heat really halt solo survival and progression in the best way possible, imo. Making you have to seriously plan your runs and and prepare. Knowing how much you can carry, how hydrated you are, the best time of day so you don't get caught in a storm or out in the sun and the Sandworm makes it so tense crossing across open desert. Combine all of this with a huge open area, BOTW style climbing, base building that can be surprisingly intricate and the vibe of "We all have to survive together" and I cannot put this down. I have put in 149 hours in the last 2 weeks and that's not idle time. One of the only reviews I've ever left for a game because I think it's worth it. 10/10 game imo - Would strongly recommend.
this games freaking amazing in so many ways. Combats a bit clunky but as a solo player I've had an amazing journey thus far. have not made it to the deep desert and i hear its rough as a solo so we will see.
A few bugs here and there, but ultimately a game worth buying (I bought it on sale)
