About
Dune: Awakening is an epic Open World Survival Game where you get to fully immerse yourself in one of science fiction’s most iconic worlds.
You have been chosen by the Bene Gesserit to go to Arrakis as their agent and uncover the mystery of the missing Fremen. Visit locations such as Arrakeen and Hagga Basin and meet familiar characters such as Duke Leto Atreides and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, as you unravel an epic Dune story never told before: yours.
Whether you prefer to play alone or with friends, Dune: Awakening gives you the opportunity to explore a vast, open world Arrakis brimming with secrets to discover, stories to investigate, gadgets to craft, vehicles to assemble, and bases to build. You choose which path to take as you rise from survival to greatness.
Avoid the roaming sandworms. Seek shadows to stay out of the scorching sun. Study the slow blade or learn to master the powers of the Mentat and Bene Gesserit. Build a modest home or a massive base and decorate it to reflect your character’s unique personality. Climb mountains or craft your ornithopter and take to the skies.
Dune: Awakening gives you a living, breathing Dune on a scale never seen before.
Discover a dynamic and immersive Arrakis, from the rolling sand dunes of the Deep Desert to hidden Fremen caves and the bustling city streets of Arrakeen. Climb towering mountains with the Shigawire hook and fly across sandworm-infested deserts in an ornithopter you built yourself. Escape the destructive might of the massive sandstorms towering above you as they sweep across the landscape, then take a quiet moment to witness the beauty of Arrakis when the sun is low.
In Dune: Awakening, you get to step into the books and movies and experience one of science fiction’s most incredible worlds up close. Join the Atreides or the Harkonnen and rise through their ranks as you explore their unique stories. Meet familiar characters such as Duke Leto and Feyd-Rautha, investigate the mysterious disappearance of the Fremen, and discover the truth about your own past. Unravel an epic, cinematic Dune story that asks the mind-bending question: what if Paul Atreides was never born?
Arrakis is a test that few survive. Those who do, awaken. Learn to survive the unique climate of Arrakis, chasing shade and extracting liquid from the bodies of your enemies to refine it into water. Study the teachings of the Schools of the Imperium to unlock a powerful repertoire of abilities, weapons, and tools. Wield the Trooper’s unparalleled firepower, use the Bene Gesserit voice to control your enemies, deploy the Mentat’s deceptive traps, or master the Swordmaster’s unique dance of death.
Carve out your own piece of Arrakis and build your personal base of operations. From small outposts to elaborate and towering strongholds, build everything piece-by-piece in the Atreides or Harkonnen style, or any of the other available architectural styles, and decorate it to reflect your personality. Equip it with powerful crafting machines and spice refineries and watch your power and fortune grow. Craft anything from useful desert-survival gadgets to entire vehicles such as ground cars and ornithopters.
Play alone, with friends, or head into the wider world filled with hundreds of other players and engage in the politics of Arrakis. Host your own server, rent one from a third-party provider, or play on an official server. A full single-player mode will arrive on September 22nd, along with many other additions and improvements.

Some of the most fun I have ever had in a game was during the first few weeks after *Dune: Awakening* released — but the game has moved in the wrong direction since then. The early game is grindy, but fun to play through once. The real highlight was the original Deep Desert endgame: vehicle PvP, fighting over spice, shooting down cargo haulers, and stealing resources. That created real stakes and made the world feel alive. After the rocket pod speed reduction, vehicle PvP became far less enjoyable and mostly turned into bombing players on spice fields. Testing Station PvP was also great until the best blueprints were moved into PvE instances. Deep Desert base raiding during sandstorms was always bad and never felt like a good PvP system. Now the endgame feels like a PvE grind instead of meaningful PvP. Once PvP became fully optional, it lost most of its purpose. Instead of fighting over valuable resources, it often feels like trolling or griefing, such as thumpering ornithopters, because there is no real reason to win anymore. The economy was never good, and duplication glitches made it even worse. Early-game PvE materials become worthless the moment you reach endgame gear, which kills trading between playstyles. PvE players and PvP players should both have ways to make money and trade for items obtained through the other playstyle, but that loop never really worked. On top of that, the current augment system feels horribly imbalanced for PvP. The launch version was rough, but exciting. The current version is more polished, but much less interesting. For me, this went from a game with incredible endgame potential to something you play through once and then never touch again.
Everyone is disappointed that the pvp in this game didn't turn out to be what they wanted, I get it, it is not the best pvp in a game. But, I currently have 135 hours in this game and it is by far one of the best games i have ever played. I am not even close to finishing quests or having my base in a true end game state. I have also barely scratched the entire end game loop of the landsradd system talents and dungeon loop. I will surely put 100's more hours in this. What is the price of entertainment? The grocery store currently has steak priced at $50/lb, buy this game and not that steak. Buy this game, play this game, love this game. Give them our money so we can get another masterpiece even greater than this.
Dune Awakening is a perfect example of how you can take an amazing universe and completely ruin it at launch. I, like so many others, came to this game for the PvP, for the atmosphere of a real struggle for resources, and for a desert where every single day is a faction war. We were promised a dynamic world, random map generation, epic confrontations… and what did we get? A desert that feels like nothing but a backdrop, faction wars that basically don’t exist, and PvP that’s been crammed into some narrow, meaningless boxes. The peak online of 150K+ players has vanished, and now the servers are left with a pitiful 5–7K. And instead of fixing the fundamental problems and developing the content people actually bought the game for, you’re feeding us useless patches and DLCs full of skins. You keep saying the core audience is PvE players, but you straight‑up misled a huge community that believed in the PvP sandbox you promised. This isn’t game development—it’s ignoring your own players. I’m utterly disappointed.
even if you are playing solo, you can make your way in the desert. But, it is a great community of players to help you along your journey
Upkeep costs are too high, its not interesting enough to keep going but you'll still get a good time to value out of it, farming batteries for the base should take half the time it does, my server shut down before my base did, RIP.
I have played almost every Dune game over the years, and in my opinion, Dune: Awakening is the best one so far. The story doesn't follow Frank Herbert's original timeline, and as a longtime Dune fan I wasn't completely sold on that choice at first. However, once you accept that it's an alternate version of the universe, the game becomes much easier to appreciate. One of its greatest strengths is that you can play solo and progress at your own pace. It may take longer to reach your goals than if you play in a guild, but everything is achievable with patience and dedication. I never felt forced to rush or rely on other players. The atmosphere is outstanding. Arrakis feels dangerous, alive, and faithful to the spirit of Dune. Base building, exploration, crafting, and survival all fit naturally into the setting. No game is perfect, but if you're a Dune fan or enjoy survival games, this is an easy recommendation. It captures the feeling of living on Arrakis better than any previous Dune game I've played.
Have to be committed to play, bases and things degrade and fade away if you are not there to feed energy. Serious resource gathering to progress, so you have to be in to that.
