Adequately priced. It would be a negative review if the price was higher because: - It's on the shorter side. - The difficulty level is not properly balanced. Some levels simply cannot be done in a variety of ways and you might butt heads on a given level, only to breeze through the next few. - Cutscenes & dialog cannot be skipped, how does that still happen in this day and age? - It's basically a pixel rip-off of Pixeljunk Monsters. It tries to be its own thing, but barely.
I was given a key to this game so I could stream it on Twitch. I absolutely LOVED it! I've never played a Tower Defense game, so it was a nice breath of fresh air. The music is a great, and the graphics are simply nostalgic. I especially love the sound effect when you upgrade your skills, it's the little things. For sure will be playing this in the future, to finish it up! I've heard it's "short" but you can always replay the levels. I would 10/10 recommend the game!
I've never played such a fun tower defense game. The gameplay and art is amazing, not to mention the incredible soundtrack. Even though the mechanics are simple, you still have to think about your tower placement as well as what you decide to upgrade, since that could be the difference between your castle getting overrun or not letting a single enemy near it.
Duke of Defense is a very fun game with nicely paired arcade action and tower defense mechanics. It has great pixel art and juicy visuals, funny dialogues and an absolute banger of a soundtrack. Both the single player and local co-op modes are a hoot, I can wholeheartedly recommend it to fans of either or both genres.
Number one reason to play this : You love tower defense, and would like to play it with keyboard or controller. It's smooth, it's fluid, it's challenging, Playing it still. I didn't play much but I finished 5 levels to write this. Your duke needs to run around catching the coins dropped from dead enemies -it's not automated like in other Tower Defense games. Lots of fun. You feel like you're actually part of the battles with the towers you created :) Recommended - especially for price - or on sale - I think there might only be 9 levels;
Im no fan of tower defense, but this one i loved. once i started i couldnt put it away until i completed it. it got a nice co-op too, i tried it with my kid and it was a success :)
I really like it. Especially the co-op. Now please make a sequel.
Fun gameplay, fun writing, fun characters. Would be super cool to see a game where you play as the Fire Wizard.
Absolutely a hidden gem, 7/10. If you have spare change and enjoy td games, buy it
Not a tower defense fan. This feels more interactive .. like i dont just plop something down .. hope that it kills enemies fast enough for me to buy another tower to kill what first tower didnt until the late game where its more a matter of triage of how much damage can i take overall before i fail the mission. I like the skill tree, anything to make me feel like my choices matter is a personal investment as a gamer and draws me in ...
