Dropsy is a non-traditional take on the classic point and click adventure formula starring the game’s perpetually carefree namesake clown as he explores a richly detailed world full of colorful characters and sinister secrets, doling out hugs along the way.

I'm not a fan of point n click games, but I decided to give this game a try, bcz it was on sale for less than a dollar, and honestly it was completely worth it! Dropsy it's a low-paced, "cozy" game I'd say, so take that into consideration. It has no dialog nor text (at least not in a comprehensive language), but still tells a wholesome story with beautiful pixel-artwork and soundtrack. The tasks are simple, yet interesting, and they require looking and searching around different objects that could help the characters, or objects that are related to the backstory of them. I love the message of not judging a book by it's cover, being able to surpass trauma, and the positive resolution of the problems. Sometimes you just need a hug and someone telling you that what you feel is completely valid!
I told myself to avoid impulse purchases until I had severely whittled down my game backlog but it was 90% off and such a steal... I dig the set up and the aesthetic: this horrifying but not at all horrible creature in a really horrible world... I fooled around here for 78 minutes but the truth is...i was dreding the next time I played. I was just bored by the idea of it. This feels like those games you could play for free online during the 2000s. That's to say that's not bad at all, there just should be less of it. One hour should break the back of it and two nearly complete it at least. You wonder around and I do get frustrated when navigating new places. It's not fun gameplay. There isn't really a story, only back story and tho you help people along the way, helping them seems over all inconsequential. I know it's probably all about how helping people is its own reward but bottom is: there's nothing really bad about this, I just cannot be bothered. I would so much rather take my chances with the next game in my backlog. I just don't want to put in the work to finish this. Sorry Dropsy :( I liked YOU, at least.
It's not my cup of tea, but I can see why it has a high Metacritic rating and Steam reviews. Due to its text-free experience, the story mainly uses a "show, don't tell" approach. You may miss something if you don't pay attention to small/implied details or if you only rush the main story. Both the visuals and audio are fairly good. I felt the solutions to some puzzles were nonsensical, although I saw it coming since some parts the game itself felt bizarre. I chose to use a guide after playing for an hour, and I recommend that you do the same unless you're a veteran of point-and-click games. As for the Warm Damp Hug Edition, all the audio files I got are 320 kbps MP3 files with cover images and metadata. I mostly skimmed the "Book of Secrets," but I believe you would enjoy it if you want to dive deeper into the story and lore. P.S. I don't really recommend this game, but I chose "Recommended" because I bothered to finish the main story.
Considering to it's playtime-length this game's completely worth it's price and the puzzles are challenging enough as well. The ending ruined the game for me though, but... won't spoil it for you.

This game is very good, for real. The best aspect by far about Dropsy is how you can spread happiness across the world. You have a small town and other locations inhabited by people and other creatures, each fighting their own struggles, and then you can make something to brighten their day, ending with a hug and knowing that now, their days are slightly better because there's still something good in that world, you. Really,
the part where you plant a new flower for the sad girl in the playground and come back in the next day, seeing her happily running around the flower and asking if it was a miracle. The one where you put some sense into the church woman and she realizes how "blind" she was towards the suffering happening around her. When you give the flower to a solitary woman or a locket to a widowed man. All these moments, they're so heartwarming and beautiful.
The gameplay is point and click, it's simple and can be boring if you're not into is, since you will be walking long distances before unlocking a fast travel system. The puzzles aren't that hard, except the ones that lead you to secrets or optional content. There's is a night and day cicle in this game and some NPCs are only available during certain hours or they move depending on what time it is. This can lead to some minor frustration, but thankfully, you can take a nap to change time and beds are scattered across the map. The ending is... weird.
You go from a start where you're a clown with a dog companion and a sick father who you have to help, to an ending where you discover Dropsy is an alien that was sent to Earth just like Superman, travels to their homeworld/homeship and becomes the king of his species. This ending is also just thrown at your face in the last 15 minutes, and despite some small hints about this plot existing around the world, it's just too sudden. I don't exactly think it's a bad ending, but a rushed one. I'd prefer this game was more grounded with some sprinkles of wackiness or at least having all the space stuff more present during the story.
Recommended because, although the ending is a letdown, the majority of the game was amazing.
The ending of this game destroyed me. Its sad, and at the same time, the road to get there is so beautiful. It really is necesary to give persons and things you think u think u dislike a chance and not always think with hatred in your mind. At least is what I take from this game.
