Very fun, but too short for its premise. It doesn't take very long to complete main quests, side quests and special challenges/puzzles. You can pad out the time by also trying to catch all fishes and aberrants, but that doesn't take very long either. If the dev's had more time and money, I'm sure they could have added more regions and padded the open ocean with more miscallenous curiosities. All in all, I had a fun 35 hours finishing the game (plus DLC) and unlocking all achievements. If you're looking for other lovecraftian seafaring games, I recommended Don't Starve: Shipwrecked . It's even got the same day-night cycle and panic/sanity systems.

quick and fun mystery has a small grind but not boring. very much enjoyed the atmosphere. lots of nice scary elements. wish you could do more with the abilities you gain. all in all a nice package.
Dredge is a beautiful game with the perfect combination between lore, gameplay and ambience. It does such a good job at balancing the cosy fishing with Lovecraftian horror, especially in the early and mid game. The gameplay loop does shift in the late game less from the mystery, lore-building and exploration side to centre around collecting all the fish and their unique aberrations (155 in base game, 230 with both DLCs in total), which I can understand why some people may find monotonous due to the lack of 'action'. The jaunty sea-shanty music faultlessly matches the ever-shifting mood, and the 2D artwork for every character and fish aberration has been meticulously crafted to perfect its low poly art style to seamlessly blend with the 3D aspects of the game. And for anyone who wants to know, my favourite aberration designs in the base game are the Barracuda aberrations (#162 and #163), my favourite in the Pale Reach is the Craterous Seer (#218) and my favourite in the Iron Rig and the overall game is Famine's End (#226). The main DLCs for Dredge (Iron Rig and Pale Reach) also add a decent chunk of gameplay and would recommend buying them either with the game or separately as a bundle afterwards if you do enjoy the base game. Compared to the Iron Rig, the Pale Reach does severely lack gameplay content due to its smaller, stand-alone story; but I would still buy it as part of the bundle or when on sale. Overall, Dredge is definitely a game I would recommend, especially for completionists or as a gateway game for those who want to branch out to more genres.
Fantastic lovecraftian vibe in an otherwise peaceful fishing game, with a twist. Interesting world and sound design. Would Recommend.
