It's too bad that there isn't a 'maybe' option for recommendations, because that is about where my feelings lie with this game. On the upside, most of the game is very engaging. I like the visuals, and I like that we slowly work our way back in the main character's mind to figure out what's going on. I like the way the main character and the guide interact. I like the puzzles, and I like the way you're eased into the different dynamics. However, that all goes out the window in the final chapter, and for me the only reason for that is the ridiculously difficult final puzzle. I normally save my reviews for once I've beaten a game, but I honestly don't know if I can beat the game. I consider myself decently good at puzzle games, but the puzzle itself suddenly becomes so convoluted that my options are to spend an exorbitant amount of time to beat the puzzle or watch a video of someone else doing it and try to copy their movements (and I'll be honest it's so finicky that even while doing the latter I'm struggling). Narratively, I admit the puzzle being that way makes sense, but it is beyond frustrating nonetheless. Overall, I would still recommend this game because 90% of it is good, but be warned that the final chapter is more of a roadblock than a payoff.
I really enjoyed the puzzles and the way that you are introduced to new mechanics. As you progress the puzzles of course get harder, sometimes giving me a headache. The satisfaction of solving a puzzle though is amazing. The art style and story reminds me a bit of Outer Wilds, which is one of my all time favorite games. I would highly recommend this to someone who enjoys puzzle games. However, there are a few cons. The biggest one for me is the Finito Achievement, which you get for "discovering Jacks Secret". You are supposed to receive this achievement for beating the game, but I (along with many others) did not. There are also two other end achievements, which I did not receive until replaying the game for a second time. Another con (but not that bad for me) is that you can not interact much with the world (other than solving the cubes). For a puzzle game this seems a little disappointing, as I would like to explore the different areas and find hidden or more challenging puzzles that a some type of secret. In all I think that this game is great for those who enjoy puzzle games. If they fix the glitched achievements in the future that would increase my liking for the game. It gives the player a nice challenge and an interesting story that keeps you guessing throughout your journey.
I have mixxed feelings about this game. Story-wise, it hooked me and kept me interested for the entire duration of the game. I also really like the visual presentation of the dialogues. The graphics and colours are lovely, reminding me of The Witness. Regarding the puzzles, they can sometimes become very frustrating, especially the last one (I admit, I had to look for a hint on YouTube). The puzzle cubes with gears gradually add new elements, which make them more challenging but also interesting. The core concept revolves around spatial imagination on a rotating cube, which is something unique in contrast to other well-known puzzle games. While rotating the cubes, I often found it hard to keep track of the position of gears on all the walls, and it got even worse after the introduction of
more dimensions
. That being said, if you keep a cool head and persevere, the eventual solution brings a lot of satisfaction, and it feels really good when the gears fit together and start moving as they should. Beyond the story line, the game also includes 10 extra levels, which I found to be a great addition to the game. They didn't evoke any negative feelings in me, unlike some of the final levels of the main game. All in all, if you're okay with the game being purely about the placement of gears on a cube with a basic, gradually unfolding story, then I would recommend it.
不太行,在一个地方待很久,又解不出来,我会很恶心,生理上的恶心。
太单调了,只有解箱子,剧情和玩法对应不上
If you're into first person puzzles with a good background story, this is for you. There's one single kind of puzzles, which is: put gears on a cube to make the target gear spin, thus revealing a fragment of your memory. New mechanics are introduced along the game, so puzzles never get boring. The story is just a bit unclear at certain stages, but it's overall intriguing. Polygonal graphics remind a bit of The Witness (but that game is like mount Everest, compared to other games).
Really calming game that is perfect for quiet evening. If you liked Firewatch, you would like this one too. Nice for concentrating and to practice your brain a little.
Decent puzzle game for an evening chill
I'd give this a 4/10. I feel bad about giving this a thumbs down as at heart it's not a bad game. It seems well made and the story is intriguing enough. However the game mechanic gets tedious quite quickly and the final puzzle was so ridiculously difficult that it spoilt the game for me - I was close to just abandoning the game. Also, I found the ending a bit underwhelming. That said, if you like puzzle games and can get it very cheaply, then perhaps it's worth a go...
