DREAMO is a narrative puzzle walking simulator that has quite fun puzzles to solve but with a story that felt flat in the end. Gameplay Using a polygon graphics art style, the game gives some The Witness vibe but the gameplay is linear. We can only solve one puzzle after the other, and except for the beginning area of the game, we mostly walk forward while listening to the story. Puzzles I personally found the puzzles the best part of the game. Given a limited number of specific gear types, they consist of finding the correct gears wiring to an exit gear. Difficulty is perfectly balanced through the game as it gradually increases as we progress and more mechanics are introduced. The game also offers a challenge mode with 10 extra puzzles (the first few are in the demo) with a short story that might have happened before the main game story. Plot We play as Jack who is in a coma after a plane crash. Thanks to some very advanced medical technology, a doctor, Tara, can communicate with him through his dreams, helping him to fix his brain damage (by solving puzzles), recover his memories, and maybe wake up? The story is told after activating some dialogue icon found along the way. We can then listen to (or read) a dialogue between Jack and Tara before walking to the next one or puzzle. This aspect might annoy some impatient player as we have to stay next to the dialogue if we want to hear/read it. Also, I would say the story can be divided in 4 parts, most of it was quite interesting to listen to, but the last part and ending were confusing as many questions that were raised during the game were not answered. Needs for improvement - The game only saves after solving a puzzle, so if we quit beforehand, we will have to listen again to all dialogues since the last save. - There is a slight up and down head bobbing while walking. I admit that it didn't bother me, as I only noticed it after I saw a thread in the forum about it, but as of now, there is no option to remove it. In all, even if the story felt lacking, I quite enjoyed the puzzle aspect of DREAMO. Some of the latest puzzles (story and challenge modes) were hard, but nothing impossible to figure out after taking a break. I would definitely recommend this game just for the puzzles.
Gets boring fairly quickly. The "puzzles" dont advance and the story/voiceacting is rather annoying and/or uninteresting
End of the game is broken; 100% achievements is impossible. Game dev does not intend to fix this. DO NOT BUY! Edit: Ending appears to have been fixed???
Excellent jeu de puzzle. Au début c'est assez facile mais après ....... Graphismes low-poly très agréables et histoire intéressante.
Yeah, DREAMO is a fun game. With its simple graphics, story that piques interest and unique puzzle system, it'll be an enjoyable experience for any puzzle fan. The background graphics are simple, which helps crucial gameplay elements stand out better. The story sees us taking the role of Jack, an airplane crash survivor who is trying to dig up his repressed memories and wake up from his coma. It's a fine plot setup for this kind of game. The puzzles, or Artifacts, are a unique design. The player has to solve a puzzle cube by using cogs, wires, switches, sliders and the force of gravity to connect the starting Power Gear to the ending Gear, which needs to be powered. The puzzles are logical, their difficulty progresses quite well and they are satisfying to solve. Overall I would recommend DREAMO to any fan of the puzzle genre, especially with its low price.
DREAMO absolutely reminds me of The Witness and Firewatch at the same time. The voice acting is really good and i'm enjoying the story and the relation between characters a lot so that's a big plus. About the puzzles, for me personally, they hit he perfect spot where they are a challenge but are not frustrating at the same time. The graphics are colorful and simple but regardless of that very polished, ideal for the after work chill experience :) I am not really a fan of puzzle games myself but after playing DREAMO i might become one, definitely recommended!
Really good puzzle game. The story is suprising and absorbing. I thought, at beginning, that puzzles are easy but shortly after it turned out I was hardly wrong. If you are staring, for like 10 minutes, at one cube that means it is challenging. Surely worth to recommend and play! 8.5/10
The puzzles were fairly simple and uninteresting, featuring only placing gears of 3 different sizes onto the six sides of a cube, and sometimes the pegs upon which you place the gears have gimmicks, like pegs affected by gravity, pegs that toggle other pegs, and pegs you can slide. Also sometimes some of the gears have lasers that act like drive belts. And then there's the story. The story felt kinda bland, vaguely alluding to events that took place. Furthermore, the story didn't offer much in the sense of a conclusion; just when I thought there'd be a cutscene or dialogue to wrap the story up, it just went straight to the credits. Overall, the puzzles were boring and the story left a bad taste in my mouth.
The game itself is nicely done with a good story. The puzzles get a bit tedious and the last puzzle is a monster. It gets a bit trail-and-error unless you can keep track of all possibilities across three cubes mentally. I finished the story in Oktober 2022. At that time there were two 'finish the game"-achievements that wouldn't unlock, despite devs being aware of this for years. The finish of the story is a bit abrupt and seems to skip a part when going to credits. I looked at this game again in November 2025 and the broken end-achievements seem to have been removed entirely, so my previous complaint of not being able to 100% this game is solved. I have not replayed the story-line, so I do not know if the ending (or the rest of the game) is still the same. I changed the recommendation to positive, but if I'm honest; I'm on the fence on this one.
