DreadStar: The Quest for Revenge

Excellent !

The problem with finding good games isn't the lack of good games, it is the massive junk heap of worthless games like this making it hard to find decent ones.

A complete game, with dynamic music and efficient graphics. With the possibility to customize your ship, it allows you to have a different course for each game. And the levels are not easy, which makes it fun.

Le jeu m'a replongé dans l'univers des années 90 mais avec un rythme et un gameplay beaucoup plus moderne. L'animation est fluide et au top. Au niveau jouabilité, l'utilisation d'une manette avec la configuration des différentes armes permet de progresser tout en veillant à ne pas se trouver en surcharge. Les boss rappellent également l'univers des shoot them'up et des beat them'all mais le plus c'est l'intégration d'éléments RPG permettant de configurer et d'améliorer son vaisseau et son armement. Et il le faut pour progresser dans les niveaux. Les graphismes sont soignés et les sons sont bien appropriés. La dissociation du niveau sonore et des effets intégrée est un plus. Bref c'est un excellent achat qui permet de bien se défouler tout en ayant le sourire !

A classic-style shoot-em-up, clearly inspired by classics like Tyrian. The gameplay is tight, the visuals and the music are nice. Unfortunately, there are just 5 stages, and you need to replay them again and again to farm money for the upgrades, and once you've built a half decent ship and blazed through the final level there's not much left to do. DreadStar provides a couple evenings of nice oldschool fun, but little more than that.

bad controller support, random fps drops- not good for a shoot em up

Jeu vif, et agréable. Très 80's dans la forme, l'aspect RPG apportant une dimension supplémentaire sur le long terme, voire le court terme, le vaisseau étant assez "faiblard" au départ. Belle expérience, jeu de mots mis à part. :)

Pretty good shmup with some light rpg mechanics

Controller issues make this game unplayable for non-keyboard users. The issue is listed on the forums (only visible for owners of the game) - the specific issue is that at times right/down/left are not reacting at all. This issue is reported by more users, and it is definitely not on my end. (stock xbox360 controllers) It has been reported as far back as 2 years ago, and after a while it was simply ignored, or cast away with the solution to use keyboard instead.
