About
Welcome to the Magic Brick Realm! As a new adventurer, you need to defeat various monster enemies here through brick duel.
Bug collection feedback: young33y@qq.com
In a single game, the enemy and you will play monster bricks on the board one after another during the round. Choose your strategy carefully and try to occupy more plots to gain more points. The side with the higher score at the end of the game will win!
Monster bricks are the main units in the battle. They have different images, sizes and skills. Sometimes they will also produce different numbers of arcane bricks as a continuation of their influence, helping you occupy more land. .
However, it should be noted that arcane bricks tend to be more fragile, and you need to choose to place them more carefully.
Various terrains may appear in a single game. Learn to take advantage of these terrains, or stay away from bad terrains. Will these terrains make your plan more effective or a mess?
You can choose new cards after defeating your opponents and solving puzzles. Choose a route to avoid risks or challenge powerful enemies. Try to build decks of different styles to improve your card collection.

This is one of those times where I’m ecstatic that I took a chance on a game I knew nothing about! Despite loving Endgame of Devil, I’d almost written off Magibrick as a similar Luck be a Landlord-like with a similar pixel art style but that assumption couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality Magibrick is a brilliant roguelike deckbuilder melded with board game-like mechanics in the vein of Reversi (Othello) & Go. With a deck of creatures at your disposal (unlockable & upgradable with the metagame currency earned during runs), the player is tasked with outmaneuvering the opponent to cover the majority of the board with their color panels/bricks before a certain number of turns elapses. Your deck of creature cards each have various ranges & patterns of bricks they are able to lay alongside particular effects that can influence the state of the board & your score as well as a mana cost equivalent to their scoring potential. The strategy enters when the enemy also has a gamut of cards at their disposal & both you & the opponent are capable of destroying bricks that overlap one another essentially nullifying bricks that count towards score at the expense of not being able to claim as many panels as might’ve been earned if an unoccupied area of the board was targeted. Should you use your Mammoth’s range of panels to clear away a large portion of your enemy’s bricks to cut away their score or place it where the empty spaces available will boost your score? Focus on building a safe area of the board so you can place down the valuable piece that can quadruple the points scored by adjacent friendly units & panels or will that focus give your opponent the opportunity to gain an advantage in the areas of the board you haven’t invested in flipping to your color? These are the types of moment to moment questions that crop up in what I consider an excellent strategy puzzle deckbuilder - Simple to grasp but an absolute joy to master! This gem is an absolute must for anyone interested in unique roguelike deckbuilding games outside of the standard formats
A Nice Little Package Ruined By Frustration

Things I Like About Magibrick:
Gameplay

I genuinely believe the developer has created something interesting here. Players need to occupy as much space as possible in a 9x9 tiles before the final turn. Magi bricks(colored creature bricks) can only be destroyed by other methods, while overlapping arcti bricks(empty colored brick) will destroy each other.
Creature bricks have different patterns and abilities, and their roles are certainly interesting to play around. Some creatures can occupy multiple space at once; some can turn strong enemy bricks into lesser forms; and some can buff ally to score more points.

Things I Dislike About Magibrick:
Unfair Difficulty

I am not against difficulty, but the frustration makes it hard to keep going.
You are always using an incomplete deck against a well-synergized deck. Even the very first battle you are already fighting against a decent treant build, and depending on the AI you could hardly turn around.
Your upgrade is limited and scales way too slowly compared to the difficulty spike. In order to have a viable build you need to at least reach the third level, unless the RNG favors you.
Certain builds can be hard to use also because of the difficulty spike. The AI is relentless with their assault. Any builds that need warm-up or specific conditions will be immediately disrupted by tons of enemy bricks.

Magibrick is a really creative tile flipping game. There are lots of variations available to a wide variety of units in order to help keep things fresh. You wouldn't want to overplay it, but for $8, it's well worth it.
