Its alright, I mean its just Harvest Moon with different characters, personally I have no idea who these characters are, I am sure they are from some popular anime or something, but I am not really a big fan. Does that really matter? Not at all its still Harvest Moon, if you are a fan of those games (or Stardew Valley - which is a Harvest Moon tribute / clone anyway) you will like this.
The isometric view is a tad annoying but yet the graphics are actually really nice and pleasant. It does take a while to get going and I found myself skimming a lot of the text. But after you get through all that the game is as I have already said Harvest Moon.
Now if you don't know what Harvest Moon is allow me to explain.
You inherit a farmland of sorts, its normally overgrown with weeds, branches, trees and scattered with rocks and other debris. It is your goal to turn this into a working farm, you clean up area's use the materials you gather (not just from your farm) to upgrade tools or parts of your farm - new buildings and the like. You plant seeds and tend to them every day to make sure they grow correctly, then when ready to harvest you can send them off to sell at the end of every day, or keep hold of them (they maybe used for some other event or something)
You can fish, mine and gather all sorts of different resources, again most can be sold, or used to upgrade equipment and your farm. You can eventually start taking care of livestock (cattle, chickens and sheep) that will be used to produce other things you can sell (milk, eggs and wool).
You have a town where you can interact with the townsfolk - very limited conversations, but you can give them an item, if they like it it will help their friendship level with you grow, now in normal Harvest Moon games, once your level reaches high enough with a person, you can end up getting married, and they will come live on your farm - I don't know if it is the same with this version though.
Again the further on you progress you will be able to unlock mysterious little helpers, these can help you perform daily tasks (watering the plants for example).
There are basic seasons and a calendar that is used to help you plan your crops and take part in events - these help break up some of the monotony of the game at least.
Really its a laid back game where you can do as you please, there is probably some sort of ultimate goal or story, but you don't have to follow it 100% - unless you are after the achievements.
if you are new to this style of game, then literally picking up any one of them is going to give you an idea what it is like. I would say grab this on a sale, the full price is a bit steep - I am sure it is more for some licensing costs for using these characters? Who knows.
Stardew Valley is a modern day take of the classic 2D style games that you may have seen on the Super Nintendo or GameBoy Advance versions. and would recommend if you are not sure about this type of game.
Of course if you are a big fan of Doraemon - you probably already own this game, but you will get more out of this I am sure.
Still a worth while purchase if you are into Stardew Valley / Harvest Moon games.
