Doors of Silence - the prologue

A VR horror game that has a few problems mainly with interaction as it has the look and click of a flatscreen game instead of use your hands to open things etc. I put this down to probably being a Gear game first and ported to more advanced VR systems after. I may be wrong but it felt that way, although this is a bit of a design flaw in VR games today as we know the more interaction the better. Video gameplay of first half hour: https://youtu.be/juP5k8nJlUA Next is movement, the hold touchpad down at top for slow walking and I mean slow. Click touchpad twice and hold for run which you have to click down on touch pad to stop. It's not a good system with myself preferring the slide the thumb from centre to edge to control the speed of your locomotion. Direction is based on the HMD and there does not seam to be an option to change to controller directed. Last problem is and I can't say if this affects everyone but I was off by a couple of feet and doors didn't line up. I could of fixed in advance VR settings I suppose but I shouldn't have to. I found myself having to go through the actual open door, frame and wall slightly to the left of most doors. I also fell out of the map at one stage when a door pushed me out. Hopefully the Dev will look at fixing these problems and you can see them in the video I linked to above. Ok, with that out of the way, I enjoyed the game, it's got that dread feeling to it. You know somethings just around the corner and you're dreading having to go round it. The sound effects are good and voice acting also good, music builds up and does make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Story is good and it's a single player VR horror game with a story, my favourite VR games. The assets look a little similar to A chair in a room Greenwater and a couple of other VR horror games. Nothing wrong with that and it does look good in VR. Scares are there as well as the whole psychological dread as you continue your journey. Puzzles I have encountered so far have been pretty easy so hoping this changes soon. The torch with the gamma ray setting is a good game mechanic and there is a gun but I have not got to that stage as of yet. Overall it's a good game let down by some bugs but most of all the lack of interaction with your surroundings. killing the immersion and for VR in 2019 this is not good enough. Anyway it get's a recommended from me due to being my favourite type of VR game and still fun even though it could be better. I hate to leave bad reviews. This looked so good, but it's missing so many basic vr options that should be no brainers by this point: you can't see your hand, meaning interacting with just the starting menu is difficult. Movement is by pressing and holding down the Vive pad, double clicking to run (convention seems to be touch to move/click to run these days). Collision detection is way off, just navigation the starting rooms desk is difficult. You can't disable touch to turn which is also mapped to the interact button so you wind up confusing them. I couldn't even get into the game proper due to frustration. I really want another horror shooter, Arizona Sunshine, Organ Quarter and Brookhaven are wearing thin. This is a huge gap in the market and no one seems to be able to competently fill it.

Not recommended until the devs show some support in fixing all the problems related to controls. Yes, graphics and story thus far are good, but the controls are horrible and I have experienced a number of glitches like freezing, constant collision error message popping up every few minutes, etc. I do not believe this game was properly tested with the Vive, Rift, and/or Index. The Devs are not responsive and have not been active since the last update, end of Jan 2020. I sent them a glitch comment and have not heard anything from the dev team....that in itself tells you that they do not care about this game, they just care about the money. DO not waste your money on this game ....very frustrating game controls. If this is the prologue, not a good start.

[h1] Very promising horror game [/h1] My first Impressions: Amazing and realistic graphics (one of the best so far for VR), great gameplay and the ambience is terrifyingly stunning. The uv-mode attack with flashlight to scare off the crawling creatures is amazing and creepy. I'm looking forward to exploring other levels....this halloween night will be very terrifying.

Ok so if Five nights at freddies scares you then this game is going to give you nightmares. first class VR graphics and spine chilling audio make for a truly terrifying VR experience. The level design is clever and although its exploration based you will not get lost and amongst the simplicity of finding keys ,unlocking doors the game induces a constant sense of dread that as a seasoned horror buff i have yet to experience elsewhere, i will go as far as to say i find the game uncomfortable and very unnerving . The movement is a bit unorthodox and is taking some getting used to and there is a problem with door collisions for me but dont let this put you off. THIS IS VR HORROR!!!! Give it a try if you dare.

I struggled to like this, but the controls are so awful that it is an uphill battle. Eventually I gave up. Beautiful game marred by very very poor controls.

Gioco stupendo che nonostante sia stato fatto anni fa continua ad essere aggiornato. Pensate che pochi giorni fa hanno inserito la fisica degli oggetti e le mani visualizzabili e utilizzabili in gioco(cosa che prima mancava) . Addirittura ricominciando da capo ho scoperto che hanno inserito nuovi puzzle che prima non c'erano. La recensione finale la scriveò quando finirò il gioco, ma vi dico che questo gioco è un capolavoro dell'horror in Vr e non dovete lasciarvelo scappare...ancora di più in sconto! Non posso dire molto perchè non è bello spoilerare i giochi,ma vi posso dire che è un gioco che parte molto lentamente per poi diventare più movimentato. Sicuramente gioco influenzato da i vari Resident Evil e Silent Hill...ovvero il meglio del videogiochi horror. Provatelo e non ve ne pentirete! Forse l'unico rammarico è l'essere troppo corto,ma vi assicuro che ci metterete del tempo a finirlo.
