Instead of hiding behind cover like in many modern shooters, you're encouraged to stay aggressive, dodge enemy attacks, and keep fighting. This fast, fluid combat makes every encounter exciting and incredibly satisfying. The atmosphere is another highlight. From the abandoned research facilities on Mars to the terrifying landscapes of Hell, every location feels unique and perfectly fits the game's dark and brutal style. Even years after its release, the visuals still look fantastic thanks to the detailed environments, impressive lighting, and well-designed enemies. The soundtrack deserves special praise as well. The heavy metal music perfectly matches the intense gameplay and makes every battle feel even more epic. It's hard to imagine DOOM without its iconic soundtrack because it keeps your adrenaline pumping throughout the entire game. The weapon variety is also excellent. Every gun feels powerful and satisfying to use, whether it's the classic Super Shotgun, the Plasma Rifle, the Rocket Launcher, or the legendary BFG. On top of that, each weapon can be upgraded, allowing players to experiment with different playstyles and strategies. One of the game's best mechanics is the Glory Kill system. These brutal finishing moves don't just look awesome—they also restore your health, rewarding players for staying aggressive instead of playing it safe. It's a clever feature that makes the combat feel even more engaging and sets DOOM apart from many other FPS games. Of course, no game is perfect. The story isn't the main focus, so players looking for a deep narrative may find it lacking.
