TL;DR: Fun, decently written, middle-of-the-road FMV romance game. Worth the $10 USD price tag. "Don't Fool Me, Beauties!" is another FMV romance game made by Storytaco, the same company who produced "Five Hearts Under One Roof" (FHUOR) 1 and 2. In "Don't Fool Me, Beauties!" (DFMB), you take on the role of Han-Bin, a 25-year old man who has never had a job and stays in his room gooning. After getting caught by his mother and kicked out of the house, Han-Bin applies for a job at a hot springs hotel, and seeing as he was the only applicant, he gets the job. Han-Bin is introduced to 4 women at the hotel and he goes through a journey to decide if he can find love. The four women that Han-Bin has the opportunity to romance are: [olist] [*]Ah-Young: A fellow employee at the hotel who specializes in teasing Han-Bin with tantalizing offers. [*]Ga-Eun: The CEO of the hotel whose got a tsundere attitude [*]Bit-Na: An Instagram model who is reserved and more stoic than the others. [*]Ji-Woo: Your childhood friend who is equal parts innocent and curvaceous. [/olist] The writing for the characters is decent. They are all pretty well acted and the romance arcs are mostly believable. I think the best written arc was Ji-Woo as the "friends to lovers" arc was the most compelling, although I think they leaned a little too much into the romcom "it's just a misunderstanding" situation. I think the one I liked the least was the Ah-Young arc. It was just a lot of teasing and not a lot of romance until the very end. Ga-Eun and Bit-Na were good for having both characters being standoffish at first, but you overcome that end up in a romantic relationship. Some of the writing was a little sophmoric, including a couple of fourth-wall breaks that were unnecessary. At one point, Ah-Young agrees to let you touch her chest as an apology for getting you in trouble with Ga-Eun, but as you go to touch it (the game forces you to do it, by the way), she pulls away and makes a remark that if the game was classified as adult material, marketing and promoting the game would be a lot more difficult. No real reason to include that in the game, unless they were addressing why the games didn't "go further" and show more. Making an entire game just to fit in that one quote seems ridiculous. Also, with Steam's relaxed attitude towards adult content, if Storytaco did decide to made an adult game, it would have no problem selling on this platform. There's also a couple of mildly homophobic undertones in the game where at a point when Ji-Woo is running away from Han-Bin, you are given the option to yell, "Anyone who moves is gay!" This causes Ji-Woo to freeze and then "The Manager" comes walking into frame. The whole thing is there to set up the joke about the manager, but this type of joke was set up better in FHOUR with "Sausage Guy" without resorting to early 2000s middle school comments. Also, why make the "I'M GAY!" ending a "Bad Ending"? Why not just make it a hidden happy ending, or a normal ending? The game also has some minor bugs which can be a little annoying when playing through. The rewards show as unclaimed after you claim them once and move off the story tree. After that, it shows them forever as unclaimed items that you can never claim. The game also lets you give "Likes" and "Dislikes" in a ranking system. I think this game was more used as a testing ground for that system instead of just giving likes. However, when you actually use them, the window that pops up to allow you to distribute your items will not close and the only way you can get it to close is to Alt-F4 the game and go back in. Since 2 of the game's achievements rely on using that feature, it's a little annoying to have to quit out and come back in each time you use it. I was also a bit disappointed with the lack of behind the scenes content that was present in FHUOR. DFMB had a short blooper reel, has some photos of the actors, and replays of the videos that you see in the game. No cast interviews, no "how it's made" or anything like that. I think the first FHUOR spoiled me in that regard, considering it was my first FMV romance game. In comparison to other games of this type, it falls short of FHUOR and even a couple of the better Chinese games I've played. It ranks somewhere in the middle. For $10 USD, it's certainly worth the price and even more so if on sale. Just set your expectations and enjoy it for what it is.

Another great movie game by story taco, if there will be a DFMB2 in the future, I would definitely purchase.

[h1]Don't Fool Me Beauties Not Recommended for completionist like me[/h1] [i]if you just want to see a more or less mid story with ok girls then wait for sale then its ok.[/i] Let me start with the positives because they exist. The game has some funny and unhinged moments. The Ah-young girl is a highlight she constantly pushes the limits of the 15+ rating in the most self-aware way possible, the game even gives itself an achievement called "Oops This Is Rated 15+" which tells you everything. The political onsen conversation came out of nowhere and was legendary. Some of the fourth wall breaking humor actually lands. But the affection system is the worst I've ever seen in this genre and I've played a few of these games already so you get some "six sense" for this type of crap. There is zero feedback or any clues. No indicators. No hints. Nothing. You have absolutely no idea which choices lead where. I asked my boss (Ga-Eun) what she was watching on YouTube and ended up on a private date with a Bit-Na How is that supposed to make sense? how you can predict this sh#t?! I played around 9 hours total. I focused entirely on Bit-na girl from episode 2 to 6, replayed the same sections three to four times trying to follow the logic and find the pattern. I unlocked the Ah-young ending I wasn't even focusing on. LIKE W#F ?! Bit-na's ending remains a mystery to me and at this point it always will. The story is mid. The girls are somewhat okay. But if you can't build a functional affection system in a dating sim then what are we even doing here. [h3]im sorry Storytaco's,worst entry.[/h3]
