Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.11/day in the week to Aug 4 → 0.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Larian’s oddball strategy-RPG hybrid puts you in the role of a half-dragon, half-human heir trying to stitch a shattered empire back together through conquest and conversation. After 40 hours on Normal, I have some thoughts: this is a rough-edged but genuinely compelling hidden gem—more interesting as a cocktail than any single ingredient. On its own, each subsystem would feel thin. Together, they lock into a loop that’s greater than the sum of its parts. The Blend Works The campaign alternates between a political hub (your flagship) and a light grand-strategy map punctuated by bite-sized RTS battles. None of these layers are deep by genre standards, yet the rhythm—debate a policy, charm or annoy a faction, shuffle armies, then drop into a quick skirmish—kept me engaged. Crucially, the writing and relationship choices feel like they carry weight for the most part with a few exceptions. Writing & Characters This is the game’s backbone. The cast is small but likable, decently complex, and given satisfying mini-arcs. The satire, thinly veiled riffs on real-world politics and culture, lands surprisingly well. It’s pointed without getting shrill, and it doesn’t repeat the same joke to death. Choices rarely boil down to “saint or monster”; you’re nudged into trade-offs that reverberate in approvals, perks, and battlefield edges, feeding back into the strategy layer and the replay value. There are wallflowers however. A few seemingly important figures spend most of the campaign standing around until the plot yanks them into motion. When the narrative sets the table for them and then leaves them unused for hours, it’s VERY noticeable. Main offender is the wizard Maxos who you would think would be a constant mentor figure and advisor, but just sits around in the library as a vendor for your dragon abilities for 90 percent of the game. Thankfully most characters are active in their own stories. RTS Battles They’re fun and readable—easy to pick up, tougher to master. Unit micro is clean, and even with a compact roster there’s room for clever maneuvers and timing plays due to a host of unit abilities. The upgrade system is straightforward in the best way: no fussy trees, just meaningful abilities and passives that slot neatly into your preferred approach. It’s not a pure RTS feast, with early battles lasting 5-10 minutes due to how aggressive the game wants you to be. But towards Act II and Act III, the hits of action between council sessions delivers. This is also when some battles may last 20-30 minutes long as the ai is relentless when it has resources, forcing you into battles of attrition. Your mileage may vary on how you enjoy these battles. Personally I liked the idea of crawling through bodies of allies and enemies alike to reach the victory screen. Dragon Mode On paper, it’s the hook: transform mid-battle and scorch your enemies as a jet-powered wyrm. In practice, it’s… fine. Cool at first, then something you use sparingly, because managing the field from above often outperforms playing hero unit. This may be different on Hard mode, but as of normal, I can say I rarely felt the need to initiate dragon form for the tactical advantage. When the main feature becomes optional garnish, you feel the mismatch between premise and payoff. The Strategy Layer The board-game map is “okay.” Early on, resource constraints force interesting and tough decisions; later, abundance sands off the tension. The more you own, the less the map asks of you, and turns start to blur as it just becomes spamming units and winning through numbers and not strategy. The card system does little to assist in this regard as well. Cards are bonus that range from free buildings and units on the larger strategic map, to debuffs and buffs on the rts map. It’s serviceable connective tissue—never offensive, rarely exciting. Aesthetics & Presentation “Decent for the time” fits. The art direction leans toward chunky, almost WoW-like silhouettes. You know the ones: stocky and buff men with massive shoulders and buxom and attractive women with large 'assets'. Each fantasy race also falls into the stereotypes of slender elves, stocky dwarves, and steampunk imps. This feels like before Larian really nailed the look of their world, and gave each race distinctive physical traits. It can read as generic, but it’s not ugly, just unremarkable. Backgrounds in the hub are fun steampunk and the rts maps are pretty enough to look at but again, I would say everything is just serviceable. Pacing & Structure Acts 1–2 build nicely; Act 3 coasts along. It doesn’t collapse or break the game, it just stops inventing—more of the same fights, the same board pushes, the same council beats, and eventually you'll run out of character driven moments and just be sending units to kill each other on the map. This is a familiar Larian quirk: stellar early energy, finish line that jogs instead of sprints. Replayability High, primarily due to political and NPC choices. You’re not chasing wildly different tactical toolsets so much as different political landscapes: who loves you, who loathes you, which policy perks you lean into, and how that tilts your battles and economy. There is a deeper web of choices for character arcs that can lead to some fun outcomes but whether its worth starting up another campaign is based on how you like the characters. The Verdict Dragon Commander is a designer’s sketchbook brought to life: RTS spark, strategy scaffolding, and sharp narrative glue. It’s eccentric, occasionally shallow, and undeniably memorable. If you can forgive the bland Act 3, the so-so dragon mode, and a strategy layer that runs out of gas, you’ll find a smart, satirical campaign with characters worth leading to victory. Score: 7.5/10. Niche, but it pulls through with a sturdy gameplay loop and consistently strong writing. I would love to see a remake/remaster or even a sequel, but most likely just a wistful dream.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 10: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Encountered a glitch that prevents me from building troops. couldn't find a glitch for it
