About

In the modern world where science reigns supreme, mythology has long been abandoned by the new era, with deities and monsters alike seen as mere fairy tales in the eyes of the masses. Yet in the underbelly of modern society, evil continues to lurk in the shadows, threatening the lives of mortals just as it always has. In the face of such evils, exorcists who command powers of the divine rise to stand against these supernatural threats, sworn to rid the world of monsters and evil spirits that intend to harm mankind.
Koyori, an apprentice exorcist, is sent to a remote village to exorcise the area as part of her training. However, what should have been a simple task soon escalates to unforeseen magnitudes as the dark plot behind the whole incident begins to unfold...

Divine Miko Koyori is a fantasy role-playing game developed by Circle Poison and published by Kagura Games that blends classic RPG Maker gameplay with Japanese mythology and supernatural storytelling. At its core, the game follows Koyori, a young shrine maiden who embarks on what begins as a routine mission to cleanse evil spirits from a secluded village. However, as she investigates the strange happenings surrounding the settlement, her assignment evolves into a dangerous battle against sinister forces hiding beneath the village's peaceful appearance. The story gradually expands into a tale of corruption, demonic influence, and personal resolve, giving players a compelling reason to keep pushing forward beyond the standard quest structure. The narrative is one of the game's strongest qualities, presenting a steady stream of revelations that maintain curiosity throughout the adventure. Rather than overwhelming players with exposition at the beginning, the game allows its mysteries to unfold naturally through conversations, exploration, and encounters with both allies and enemies. Koyori serves as a likable protagonist whose determination and sense of duty make her easy to support, while the supporting cast adds personality and emotional weight to the unfolding events. Although the overall premise follows familiar fantasy conventions, it succeeds thanks to its consistent pacing and atmospheric world-building inspired by traditional Japanese folklore. Gameplay embraces many of the mechanics longtime RPG Maker fans have come to appreciate. Players explore towns, forests, shrines, caves, and dangerous dungeons while collecting equipment, solving simple environmental puzzles, completing objectives, and battling hostile creatures through turn-based combat. Character progression feels rewarding as Koyori gains stronger abilities, better weapons, and improved equipment that allow her to tackle increasingly difficult encounters. Battles require more than simply selecting the strongest attack, especially during boss fights where proper resource management, healing, and skill usage become essential for survival. Exploration is another highlight, as the game encourages players to search every area for hidden treasures, useful items, and optional discoveries. The environments are thoughtfully designed with branching paths and optional rewards that make curiosity worthwhile. Instead of feeling like a sequence of disconnected maps, the world maintains a cohesive atmosphere that supports both the narrative and the gameplay loop. Players who enjoy uncovering secrets and gradually strengthening their character will likely appreciate the balance between combat and exploration. Visually, Divine Miko Koyori delivers attractive pixel art that effectively captures both the peaceful charm of rural villages and the darker tone of haunted locations filled with supernatural threats. Character portraits are expressive, enemy sprites display a respectable level of variety, and illustrated event scenes enhance key moments throughout the story. The retro-inspired presentation is polished without trying to overcomplicate its style, making it appealing for fans of classic Japanese indie RPGs while still feeling modern enough to remain engaging. The soundtrack complements every stage of the adventure with music that shifts comfortably between relaxing village melodies, mysterious dungeon themes, and energetic battle tracks. The audio design helps establish the game's emotional rhythm, allowing quiet moments to feel serene while making climactic confrontations considerably more dramatic. Sound effects during combat also reinforce the impact of magical attacks and special abilities without becoming repetitive or distracting. As expected from a Kagura Games release, the game contains mature content that is integrated into the storyline. Rather than existing as isolated bonus scenes, these moments are connected to the narrative and character progression. While this approach will appeal to its intended audience, players looking solely for a traditional fantasy RPG should understand that the adult content remains a significant component of the overall experience. Fortunately, the game offers enough meaningful exploration, combat, progression, and storytelling that it stands on its own merits beyond its mature elements. Despite relying on familiar RPG Maker foundations, Divine Miko Koyori demonstrates enough polish to remain enjoyable from beginning to end. Its engaging supernatural premise, satisfying turn-based combat, rewarding exploration, attractive pixel artwork, and steadily developing story combine to create an experience that feels more substantial than many games within the same niche. Some mechanics may feel conventional for genre veterans, but the quality of execution helps minimize those shortcomings. Overall, Divine Miko Koyori is a well-crafted fantasy RPG that successfully combines folklore, adventure, mystery, and character progression into a consistently entertaining experience. Circle Poison delivers a game that balances classic role-playing mechanics with an intriguing narrative, while Kagura Games brings the title to a broader audience without losing its identity. Players who enjoy story-focused RPG Maker adventures with strategic combat and supernatural themes will find plenty to appreciate, provided they are comfortable with the game's mature content.
WAAAAGH!
