Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Jul 23 → 1.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Distant Worlds 2 is an expansive and unapologetically complex space strategy experience that aims to simulate the rise, survival, and dominance of a galactic civilization at an almost overwhelming scale. Developed by CodeForce and published by Slitherine Ltd., the game builds upon the foundation of its predecessor while modernizing systems, visuals, and interfaces to support one of the most detailed 4X sandboxes currently available. Rather than chasing streamlined accessibility, it embraces depth and player choice, offering a galaxy that feels alive, reactive, and persistently in motion. From the moment a new campaign begins, the sheer scope of Distant Worlds 2 is immediately apparent. Galaxies can span hundreds or even thousands of star systems, each filled with planets, moons, asteroid belts, gas giants, space creatures, pirate factions, and ancient remnants. Exploration is not merely a formality but a prolonged and meaningful phase, as unknown regions conceal resources, dangers, and diplomatic opportunities that can shape the entire trajectory of an empire. The sense of discovery is reinforced by procedural generation, ensuring that each campaign unfolds differently and resists easy memorization or rigid optimization. What truly sets Distant Worlds 2 apart from other 4X titles is its real-time-with-pause structure combined with extensive automation. The galaxy does not wait for turns to resolve; trade ships move, pirates raid, colonies grow, and wars ignite continuously. To manage this complexity, players are given granular control over what aspects of the empire they wish to handle personally and what they prefer to delegate to AI governors. Research, ship design, fleet management, colonization, diplomacy, and even warfare can be partially or fully automated. This flexibility allows the game to function both as a high-level grand strategy simulator and as a hands-on micromanagement playground, depending entirely on player preference. Empire management itself is multilayered and deeply interconnected. Economic health depends on civilian trade networks, private sector shipping, resource availability, and colony infrastructure rather than abstract currency alone. Colonies must balance population growth, happiness, and development, while governments and racial traits influence stability and expansion. Decisions made early—such as race selection, government type, and initial exploration priorities—can echo across decades of in-game time, creating emergent narratives of prosperity, stagnation, or collapse. Diplomacy and external threats add further texture to the experience. Rival empires are not static opponents but evolving powers with their own ambitions, alliances, and internal pressures. Independent colonies, pirate factions, and space monsters complicate expansion and force players to weigh military action against negotiation or economic influence. Wars are rarely clean or contained; supply lines, border systems, and civilian infrastructure all become targets, making conflict feel consequential rather than abstract. Combat reflects the game’s systemic philosophy. Battles unfold in real time, influenced by ship design, technology choices, fleet composition, and positioning. Designing ships is a game unto itself, requiring consideration of reactors, weapons, defenses, sensors, and logistical endurance. Fleets are not just tools for conquest but long-term investments that must be maintained, upgraded, and strategically deployed. Victories feel earned through preparation and planning rather than momentary tactical brilliance. Visually, Distant Worlds 2 opts for clarity and scale over cinematic spectacle. Star systems, fleets, and planetary interfaces are designed to convey information efficiently, which is critical given the volume of data players must process. While the presentation may not rival flashier space games, it serves its purpose by supporting readability and long-term play. The soundtrack and audio design are understated, reinforcing the sense of vastness without distracting from decision-making. The game’s greatest strength is also its most significant barrier. Distant Worlds 2 demands patience, curiosity, and a willingness to learn complex systems gradually. Early hours can feel daunting, especially to newcomers unfamiliar with real-time 4X design. Even with automation, understanding how and why the AI makes decisions takes time. However, those who persist often find that the complexity transforms into depth, revealing a simulation that feels remarkably organic and responsive. Over time, post-launch updates and expansions have improved balance, stability, and quality-of-life features, smoothing rough edges that initially held the game back. The continued support reinforces its identity as a long-term strategy platform rather than a disposable experience. Community mods and custom scenarios further extend replayability, allowing players to tailor the galaxy to their preferences or experiment with alternative rule sets. Ultimately, Distant Worlds 2 is not a game designed to be mastered quickly or consumed casually. It is a sprawling galactic sandbox that rewards long-term thinking, experimentation, and strategic foresight. For players who relish deep systems, emergent storytelling, and the challenge of governing an empire that never truly sleeps, it offers one of the most ambitious and absorbing space strategy experiences available on Steam.
Great!
best space game
Awesome space sim
I rediscovered the game after its rocky launch. There was always a great and deep game here but I just had too many crashes and ran into bugs when it released. Now it's actually an immensely fun and deep experience. I'm really enjoying my current playthrough and can't wait to dive back into it! The way you can slowly do the things you care about manually and get advices is working really well. I feel like I'm in control over the aspects of the game that are important to me and it's fully customizable. Sure it can be daunting, but with a Youtube guide or two you can easily step in and experience this great deep 4X strategy space game that keeps getting better and better.
I was loving the game but for some reason it will no longer open
Incredible game unlike anything else out there
Good Game!必须好评! 这才是群星,就是教程有点薄弱。 四艘驱逐舰、六艘护卫舰,加在一起锤不动对方的太空船坞,真难打!接下来让我的陆战队试试跳帮战!
If you like a deep strategy games i highly recommend it.
