Fun
Love Disgaea 1, whether it was Hour of Darkness, Afternoon of Darkness, or Complete, its still a great goofy and funny tactical RPG. I wish they would have updated this to include an option to switch between this and the Complete version because it deserves it, but its still worth playing if youve never played Disgaea.
one of the best games/game series of all time. this game was my entry to it. its not some triple A level game, not even a perfect jrpg. but it has more heart in it than 99% of other projects. especially in this day and age

I needed something to play for a bit and now I'm almost up to 300 hours and on my fourth loop at time of writing, haven't even gotten anyone to their fourth-digit levels yet... Totally worth it, but I do tend to lose focus in the item world. Still not sure if I'd risk my life for soup, dood.
Probably the best game in the series along with Disgaea 2, after the first couple of titles the games absolutely lost the plot on what made them good. Disgaea is a turn-based SRPG with a focus on leveling up characters until you hit a level cap, have them be reborn starting from level 1 while maintaining their starts and keep going. They’re games that to be quite honest require a lot of patience, you really cannot just blaze through the games going from one stage to the next as eventually you’ll end up against a configuration of enemies, traps or a boss that will absolutely mop the floor with you. It’s a game that to be honest I think it’s better suited for portable gaming as a lot of the time you’ll find yourself doing proceduraly generated dungeons in order to level up your monsters and git gud against whatever the game throws at you later on. The area where D1 and D2 get right where all the rest fail in my opinion are the characters and the level design. Quite a lot of the levels are ‘puzzle rooms’, which although a lot of fans of the franchise seem to hate I absolutely love, basically sometimes it’s not just about the level of your party but also the composition of it, sometimes you need to make one of your most mobile characters eat dirt early on in order to open a path for your heavy hitters and some levels don’t even require you to be advanced level but rather think of how to trigger the level’s traps in the most efficient way possible to clean the board. The characters of D1 are also a fantastic funny crew that I feel haven’t been made justice whenever they appear in other medium like anime. They’re not serious characters by any stretch of the imagination but I find their antics and interactions to be very funny. There’s also the matter of the lore and the world which is not that interesting but it has a twist that I won’t spoil regarding the relationship of humanity with the afterlife. I recommend it only if you have a lot of patience and time, this is not a game you can really rush, if given the chance play it on a portable like a steamdeck or a psp I honestly think it’s better appreciated there.
Demons chase power Numbers climb beyond reason Chaos crowns the throne

i usually play disgaea 1 afternoon of darkness and i played for a long time and i tried this version and the graphics are really good and u get to choose the new UI or the old one to one and u get Pleinair from the start and it's too strong for the early stages i don't like it tbh.also u can double ur weapon stats by killing the item general and item god/2 and emergency exit but over all it's a really good version and if you love disgaea 1 u should really give it a try
Very fun tactical RPG with lots of humor and deep systems. I will warn that there is a lot of disgusting anime ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of the "shes a 5000 year old demon with a 14 year old's body" variety. If you can hold in the puke response from that kind of stuff it's a recommended game for sure.
