Ouugggghhhhhh It's soooo goooood *rubs Disco Elysium shaped belly* 9/10
i would publicly have nice things to say about this game if ZA/UM wasn't pure evil
Absolute garbage, pseudo-intelectual, but honestly just stupid and cringe. Do not buy waste of money. I had it refunded as 2nd game in more than 10 years of using STEAM.
Not every game asks for reflexes, some ask for thought and patience
Disco Elysium is one of the most unusual games I have ever played, and for that very reason, it is not for everyone. It is not an action game, but a game about reading, interpreting, and deciding what to do with every conversation, clue, and failure. What blew my mind the most was literally talking to my own skills, because it turns the protagonist’s thoughts into a central part of the experience and can easily consume hours of my time without me noticing. To me, that is where its real strength lies. I enjoyed it a lot because almost every dialogue made me feel like I was shaping my detective in a very personal way. I liked that feeling of playing something strange, brilliant, and sometimes exhausting at the same time. My warning is simple: if someone needs constant action or very little reading, they probably will not connect with it. I definitely recommend it, but above all to people who enjoy reading, thinking, and letting a game take them apart a little before they fully understand it.
I gave this game 3 tries on separate occasions. As I grew older and played more sophisticated but similar games, this just became a boring blob of glorified book with horrible UX and pacing.
A game that tries very very hard to convince its players that its thought-provoking and interesting. It reuses the same sarcastic format over and over to try to seem informed about a myriad of social topics, yet barely actually discusses them. When it comes to the actual gameplay, it's a glorified visual novel with awful movement, awful fast traveling, and a stale RPG system. The worst thing, however, must be how overhyped this game is by its fans. I would recommend this game only if you really have an itch to play a detective game, but at that point you should just watch a show or read an actual book. This game is not deep, it's not complex. It has instead managed to fool those that can't see squabble for what it is.
incredibly boring gameplay, or maybe the better choice of words are that there is no gameplay in the first place
please do not buy this on steam. this game was stolen and the original creators will not recieve anything.
A detective who couldn't remember his own name, his childhood, or who he used to be. Chasing clues across the city, trying to solve the mystery of a murder and the stranger staring back from the mirror
