Fans of the older titles make it sound like this game killed their grandma but I like it a lot, and this is coming from someone who holds DiRT 2 at the highest regard. It's structured very similarly to the first two Motorstorm games when it comes to events, so no story going on to justify your racing. The handling is not similar to the previous DiRT games, it's more in-line with what you find in Motorstorm and Driveclub with some of the bones from Onrush under the hood, but that doesn't make it boring. The one mode that brings the experience down are those rock-crawling events, the handling doesn't do it many favors. The car selection has a bunch of oddballs but I take that a bit more of a plus than a downer. Still, there's a bunch of rally legends to pick from like the RS200. The visuals look amazing and the performance is rock-solid. The only visual compromise is the dated TAA they went for but it doesn't look that horrible during gameplay. The one thing that I'm sure killed the reputation of this game is that it was made to be an entry in the mainline series instead of a spin-off like Showdown was. Would've been easier for the hardcore fans to stomach it had they gone for a subtitle instead, but since Rally/WRC still exists it's not like it permanently ended the simulation side of DiRT. If you want a game with no BS holding you back then definitely get this on a sale. It's also one of the few modern racing games with split-screen support so it's perfect for grabbing a second controller and throwing it at a friend to have some quick fun. The online modes are also still up, just not as populated, though crossplay does help. The Playgrounds mode that's very similar that mode from Skate that lets you create your own park is also interesting to mess with.

13 on sale2 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 2 “not sold” markets are read from the Steam price pass of Aug 21: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price in those. The 13 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

I can't play this game more then 20 minutes. Sure, it looks fantastic, vibrant, colorful and the effects are nice looking. The environment and track locations are also pretty cool. But this game's handling is so alien like, impossible to describe it but when I play it it's just feels wrong to me and can't get used to it. The starter cars are not good enough and if you want to get better cars you either have to grind or buy one via micro transaction. The podcast stuff is cringe and the soundtrack is not fitting to the game, although there are few tracks which are good but not many. The game tries really hard to be more varied with the events, but there are not much difference and you can basically find 2 or 3 different type of events, every other is different by the car type you use and that's about it. I don't give up on games that easily, but DIRT 5 not made the best impression on me and didn't made me interested. I don't recommend getting this game, even if it's on sale.
Pros: -Excellent graphics and weather effects and good tracks -Fun "Playground Mode" -Interesting in-game podcast Cons: -Terrible physics/handling -No tuning option -No traditional rally mode -Crashy and bad AI -Short and too repetitive Career Mode -Small variety of cars -Game often crashes -Other smaller issues Overall: Not what you would expect from Codemasters. The game's not even worth buying on sale. Just get a DiRT 3 key. 3/10.
Just so everyone is aware, this is the watered down Dirt version of what DriveClub Rally would've been. Sony sold Evo Studios to Codemasters. What was left made this, what was left after this joined Criterion to make NFS Unbound. I love an arcade racer as much as a sim. I've platinumed this on PS5, and due to my PC not being able to run DriveClub emulated at 60fps, and a lack of good arcade racers currently available, I've come back to this.. It scratches the itch. Just don't pay non sale prices, full rip for all the content is a rip, it's a 5 year old game ffs. Whivh leads me onto performance, i5 10400 with an rx7800xt, 4k native, ultra is flawless, and the sense of speed is unlike the ps5 in every regard. It's my most impressive takeaway from this. It's fast and fun, performance is excellent. Just don't expect Asseto Corsa Rally levels of realism.
Where is the rally? this game made a collab with fortnite - looks so awful.
it does not load at all, it always get stuck on loading screen. people says its because of nvidia having isuue with the game. I didn't know it at the time and i guess i wasted money
Ok so this game got a update and now the game just crashes due to memory issues like what did you do the game played perfectly fine and now EA touched the game it is not playable for me anymore So it wasn't EA but just Nvida ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up as per usual
This will be a positive review - you have been warned. I both feel many things and feel nothing while playing Dirt 5. I think that sometimes there's poetry in the mundane and normie/arcade (nonderrogatory) racers like this one, aren't the exception. I came in with the worst of intentions going into this game. I was ready to bash, hate, and criticize, but every time I wanted to be mean, the game managed to soften me up. I've always had a weak spot for gorgeous aesthetics and Dirt 5 does classify as a highly polished experience imo. The only praise that I manage to find echoing amidst the many negative reviews is that the game looks damn good. That can be a double-edged sword, but when it's paired with a consistent and coherent sense of style, I think it's a single-edged sword that cuts through my apparent negative bias of huge corpo EA games (idk if that makes sense lmao, I just wanted to use that metaphor). What I'm trying to say is that the game looks really good and not only in the graphics fidelity department. The vibe the game exudes is kinda pristine. It is very cheesy and flashy and the music selection is kinda even more cheesy. It's a game that could have been released in the Fifa Street 2 days and could have blended in perfectly. I do, however, say this in the best way possible. It's cheese that is surprisingly digestible. What really made me enjoy the experience of turning off my Brian and engage with the arcadey racing is the amount of novelty the game gifts you. I was surprised to read that a lot of people found the game quickly boring. I, for one, enjoy greatly the amount of original tracks the game has. It features several locations from around the world. It has a quarry in Italy, a bamboo forest in China, a rocky desert in Morocco, and a bunch more creative locations. The weather in the game is really fun to experience as well. The game tries to be super grimey and dirty and raw and cool-looking, so in most races, there are heavy rains, mud, snow, and changing racing surfaces. Tracks do tend to repeat (although not often enough to get tiring), but the weather does actually have the power to change the gameplay in the track and this is something that I feel lots of racing fans have always wanted from their racing games. Tracks in the snow can get more and more layers of snow as the track progresses making the driving harder and slower. Rain can start in the middle of a race making the handling of corners more sketchy and mud starts to develop which does end up dirtying your car and shows up until the end of the race. It's a very immersive experience. The handling model was strange to get used to. I felt like all the vehicles were bricks trying to turn in the mud and I was kind of upset at first with it. I wasn't even sure why. After a while with the game though I kind of understood what they were going for and it started to grow on me - especially since there are a lot of cars and trucks to choose from and they all handle differently. The career mode is long and progression feels good to progress through. The game definitely gave me a feel-good vibe that I think I've been missing from games recently. This is an actual game that you can sit down and play to unwind from stuff in your life. Since the game is unfortunately published by EA, it comes with a lovely bundle of microtransactions built into its design. I will never not see how a "game pass" fits into a single-player game unless it's not a flagrant display of human greed by a huge corpo amalgam. It's always gross and it makes my stomach turn and I think it's trash how we never get the full game unless we shell out a little more money each time. My opinion is nothing new. I hate how I actually really like this game. I really wish it was made by a small team of indie devs, but I guess that creating tons of original tracks and a weather system does actually take a huge, skilled team to undertake that to fruition and whatever our collective beef is with corporations being nasty I can't argue with a good game. Dirt 5 is a solid racing game and I love that it exists. It definitely has little OG Dirt DNA in it, but I don't think Dirt has been going for that since like Dirt 2. In any case, I can definitely see myself giving this game 3.5 Colin McRae Rallys out of 5 🚙🚙🚙
Great game! Has issues locking up and the developers are doing NOTHING about it. Well known issue. Buy at your own risk.
