Dinosaur Adventure 3-D (1999 Version)

Originally had this game as a kid. Your goal in this game is to collect eggs and play minigames to hatch them in order to eventually beat the main antagonist. A T-rex. Pros: Several mini games such as a fossil builder, map builder, platformer, maze game, lane runner/dodger, and a picture matching game. Short quizzes that give basic if outdated dino or prehistoric info Will give hints on where to look for eggs if you go several visits without locating one. Most dinosaurs have a short animation movie of them when clicked on. Cons: Heavily outdated dino information (not really the games fault). most noticable is that this was before it was confirmed most dinosaurs would have had some kind of feathers. This one gives Jurassic Park (original not world) vibes of all of them being reptile like. Designed with children in mind. So the information and games given are often simplistic in nature Short. Could honestly probably beat this game in under 2 hours if you maximize efficiency in minigames (just do the map builder its the fastest one to complete) If you never grew up with it i wouldn't bother with this game, i personally bought it for nostalgia reasons. if the price is too high wait till its on sale for half off. Heres hoping the Jurassic Park 3 knowledge adventure and Jumpstart games will be ported to Steam someday.

Peak childhood game. I was just thinking about this the other day and didn't realise it was on Steam now.

It's as Beautiful as the day I lost it on a CD-Rom... Many Core Memories Unlocked.

A real classic of late-90s educational software. But, and this is a big point. This game was made for kids, so please bear with any parts you may find annoying. Also, most of these depictions and dinosaur factoids are now out of date. But, if like me you have fond memories of being a dino-obsessed kid of the 90s. You could do much, much worse.

While definitely outdated in a lot of its information and graphics, there is still a shocking amount of facts that hold up decently well and the gameplay itself still runs as smoothly as I remember. I absolutely adored this game as a kid and played it so much that the disc wore down, so I'm glad a version of it exists now that I can use to relive my childhood without having to worry about actually damaging the game. While the story is nothing special, it serves as a good enough setup that will keep your dinosaur-obsessed child/inner child engaged nearly the whole time, and it educates about paleontology in an easily digestible way as you play. Although, I wouldn't blame parents or nostalgic adults if they occasionally get annoyed by the dialogue because this does definitely skew towards a pretty young demographic despite its decent science. Regardless, you can tell that a lot of love and work went into this game to not just capitalize on the dinosaur craze of the 90s but also make sure it was as enjoyable for players as possible. I can't imagine how many hours must have gone into the research, art, animation, model-rigging, gameplay and coding process during its production and I'm forever grateful it helped to cement my lifelong obsession with paleontology.

This is one of my absolute favourite games when I was a kid, learning about dinosaurs. I would play this for hours and hours, and now seeing this here on Steam just brings joy to my heart, knowing I can finally play this again. Oh, the childhood memories... Thank you for bringing this game back.

Had this game as a kid and it’s a blast from the past. The CG models are just as janky and off putting as when I first played it.

Was a surprise to find this here! Had this game back when I was a kid, good memories! This is a simple game for children with mini-games, short clips, and short descriptions for education (as of 1999.) I trip down memory lane for others, or just to check out. For those with kids, go for it!

Wild I was just thinking about this game again recently I haven't played this is like 25 years, I'm impressed the cd rom port didn't have any compatibility issues. Already hatched 2 eggs lol
