This game is unpolished, it shows your crosshair no matter what happens, even when videos or scenes are playing. The subtitles are cut-off from the screen. The English is so bad that even kids would know better English. The game has no sound or the sound is broken. The game is ugly and repulsive rather than an atmospheric or scary experience. Its horrific only in how bad it is. AVOID IT!
I now have the English version. Running game in 1920 x 1080 maxed graphics. Graphics: 5/10 Some are good and some are very bad. I dont buy games for the Graphics rather for gameplay. Sound - Fx: 4/10 Look it's terrible when one piece of music stops abruptly and then a different piece of music starts which sound way off. I mean there is no fade in or fade out. It's just does not sound right. Sound effects are not bad. There is no way to turn the volume up or down in the game. (see below gameplay) GUI: 2/10 They inventory is ok but if you click on a note you can edit the text in it? If I try to close the note(s) They will not close and then you have to do alt + tab = Ill get back to this in gameplay. Gamplay: This game has some huge bugs and i mean game breaking bugs. I skipped a scene and the game just froze so I tried to do what we all do (ALT +TAB) It did not work I had to do a full reboot for my PC. This is the worst thing possible and makes this review a (Negative) straight away. 1 - The game frezzes every 10 or so seconds for about 1 to 2 seconds. 2 - Characters talking to you have no lip movement. 3 - If you want to adjust your sound volume you cant inside the game and when i tried ALT + TAB to change it at the desktop my mouse pointer was restricted and i could not access the Volume control centre. 4 - Its snowing inside the houe when you enter throught the front doors. 5 - Potions - If you highlight the any of the Potions they are in Russian. Yiu have to guess what the are. 6 - Talk to old lady sitting in chair and skip the scene and the las paragraph text stays on the screen forvever Look I could go on and on but it's not worth my time. If you asked me should I buy the game I would say NO WAY. It has to many bugs and some are Game Breaking. I mean making someone have to reboot thier computer is just digusting sorry to say. I may change this review if the game is fixed up. To Dev: You said you tested this game. Did you have a blindfold on. I was hoping it was going to be very good but no it's a mess ATM.
Review copy provided by developer via Curator Connect Some games have a lot of heart, but lack the design chops to make something of it. You can see it in games that work hard to be different, in games that have unique art styles and paper-thin gameplay to make up for it, or in games with unusual gameplay systems that just don’t come together quite right. House of Evil is the latter, a game of great ambition that can’t really deliver on any of it. And while it’s a hilariously confounding romp for awhile, eventually you’re sure to run into something that’ll stop the fun dead in its tracks. Your protagonist is but a simple Russian man who receives a terribly disturbing (and confusing) phone call. His ghost hunter wife has vanished into a remote mansion and it’s up to him to extricate her. On arrival, though, it becomes immediately apparent that all is not well in the house. The occupants are varying degrees of eccentric, there are strange creatures roaming the grounds, and ominous portends abound. If your fated fellow is to survive this ordeal, he’ll need to bone up on the dark rituals being carried out there and whip up some sanctified remedies for the evil before it consumes him, his wife, and the whole world. That’s about as much as I could piece together from my hour with the game, really. I completely understand the difficulties of localizing a game into other languages but there’s a basic level of comprehensibility required, and House of Evil sails comfortably under that bar. You’re going to be dealing with item descriptions like “It allows to start expulsion a pianist” and dialog like “Eee, thanks! suddenly” pretty much universally here, muddying already confusing cutscenes where characters blink in and out of existence after not being properly established in the first place. I didn’t recognize my own character until half an hour in when he started talking to a little girl who may or may not be a ghost. These problems are only compounded when mixed with the game’s more involved systems. You’ll have a full inventory to manage here, cluttered with notes, keys, tapes, herbs, vials, and so on. Everything has a potential use, too, and your herbs are of particular interest if you can decipher the text block that explains the alchemy system. In lieu of actual combat, you must mix potions to perform exorcisms on the creatures that assault you. In and of itself that’s not too complicated but interpreting what you need, how it works, and how to perform the actual QTE ritual will take a few frustrating restarts and a fair bit of experimenting, too. All of this plays out in a mansion that looks cobbled together from a first-year AutoCAD project. Again, I respect the effort that went in to creating this place but it fails to resemble an actual, physical place, with stark white rooms attached directly to wood-planked chambers full of misaligned textures. Cutscenes will grab you and transport you across unseen distances, shattering any concept of space or setting here. And when you can explore, you’ll find troughs of coiled poop and sexy zombies beating on the bars of their cages. It’s a jumbled fever dream of a place, and one I was getting a genuine kick out of exploring until I triggered some monster that would instantly kill me without apparent recourse. House of Evil is one of those games that seems so bad it’s good, but ultimately just ends up being bad. I feel a little bad myself saying that, because I really was getting into the unbridled madness of the whole thing. But the further I got, the more the shoddy mechanics impinged on the fun until I got to that one zombie that ruined everything. At that point I didn’t really have the will to push on, because it’s not like the story or the graphics or the gameplay were amazing. It was a big, goofy joke until it stopped being funny, and that was that. I hope the developer can take some important lessons from this for their next game, because I’d hate to see this kind of passion die without getting a proper shot. It just needs to be way, way better and more polished than this. Did you enjoy this review?

I tried to play it but Inventory is broken and game-breaking. When you open something (like the help screen, which is inside Inventory, for whatever reason) it goes on top of the window and there's no "X" to close it, so you can't access what's behind anymore. They say to click on top of the open screen but it didn't work for me, so I had to uninstall just after finding the first key inside the house. Saying this lacks polish is like wanting to be very very fair, otherwise one should say this is a product you cannot release in its current state. https://i.imgur.com/xDyFctR.png
An atrociously bad game - 2/10 Nothing works like it's intended. The graphics are terrible, only topped by the terrible cut-scenes. This would not be too bad if the game would actually be playable. A ton of interactions don't work and most of the time I just sat there and thought "What is going on?" One of the worst things about the game is that the game can't be minimized or paused, the game does not stop controlling the mouse so I could not even minimize the game to turn down the way-too loud volume in windows, as there are no audio settings in the game. This game is not worth any money. If the dev works on the playability (real settings, pause, able to minimize without the game taking over the mouse) I might test it again. First impressions of the game are okay. The graphics are dated by that not a big deal. The game is in russian with very poor english subtitles again tolerable. The big thing is the inability to change the keys. Getting stuck with WASD is annoying. Game designers should recognize that a good portion of the population are left handed and give us the use of the cursor keys. Update Manage to change the movement keys and the mouse speed so game much more enjoyable. Update2 Now starting to come across bugs. Interacts don't line up correctly so difficult to press and had a white out scence in the crypyt after taslking to the little girl. Eventually jump somewhere else so suspect a transistion went wrong.
