Dino Market

This is essentially one of the best purchases I have ever made.

I enjoy this little game. There's cute little animal sprites and just watching them work their shops makes me a tad bit happier in this cold world where we live. There's not much to it other than clicking the fellas and watching them produce goods for customers, but I like that the game also offers a chill mode to let them walk around my desktop. There's also a task system which I'm sure people could take full advantage of if they were trying to stay focused on school or work. The Streaming aspect of it is also pretty fun if you'd like your viewers to interact with your stream. Overall, small little game, pretty cute, but worth throwing on in the background.

An idle game more focused on being a gimmick than being a decent idle game. (For context, i only ascended once in this game to optimize my achievement hunting, but some of my gripes still apply.) For starters, the gimmicks like the timer and desktop pet thing range from useless to bugged (mostly for Linux players.) In terms of gameplay, everything is so slow, no matter how many upgrades and abilities you get. Days will always be the same. Customers still have their respawn rates no matter how many efficiency upgrades you get for your animals. the game literally halves your animal's food efficiency rate at different milestones and it does nothing. no obvious roadblock and no obvious power increase. scrolling through your nearly 50 animal upgrade tabs is so tediously manual. Side note, Why does an idle game released in 2024 have no auto buy? that's criminal. For a game that touts being able to be played as a "passive" idle game, this game punishes you for being passive. Stop monitoring your animal upgrades for 5 minutes? surprise, you just got a customer who either needs a new animal's food you haven't auto upgraded, or takes 10 minutes to go through without upgrades. you can fix this by closing and opening your shop, but until you satisfy a customer, you don't make money. This game will not let you accumulate money unless you micro manage. no, i don't hate that the ghosts and challenges are pointless to your progression, but they certainly don't help change my opinion here. if you want a desktop pet, go get a cheaper better one. if you want an idle game, i guarantee you that there are 50 idle games below 100 reviews that are better than this one. can't recommend.

10/10 super cute

Transparency doesn't work with Linux so sadly that means no fun desktop features for me (dev's looking into it but no promises) but the rest of the game is entirely playable and dare I say fun and enjoyable Also any developer willing to put in extra work like that for Linux as a platform, even if ultimately unsuccessful, has earned a positive review in my book
